In the next twenty years ultra thin film lithium ion battery technology will dominate the market as will nano-electronics allowing full powered mods to be as small as a pack of chewing gum. Wicking material and resistance wire will be a thing of the past replaced by an induced injection system that precisely meters juice into an induction heated chamber where it instantly vaporizes. Self cleaning so no maintenance or fuss just fill and vape. Electromagnetic charging allows the mod to "top up" automatically anytime it's within close proximity of an electric source. User selectable variable vapor density and vapor temperature will be the control parameters rather than watts or volts.
:)

.................................... OR ..............................................

Twenty years from now vaping will have returned to its roots, an underground fringe activity. The $5 per ml juice tax imposed by most states after FDA regulation in 2016 wasn't the triggering event, nor was the 2018 ban of RBA's or any device not specifically owned/approved by BT. It was the clean-air child endangerment laws of 2020 passed by President Horris Pill ex-CEO of the world's largest phama company, Nico-Sticker, that turned the tide by making the act of vaping in public a class A felony.

Backed up by satellite technology that can detect an unauthorised vape cloud from outer space and dispatch FDA enforcement drones to the scene of the crime in minutes.

Actually I'm a bit more optimistic. I think the hammer will come down but it won't be completely banned or even completely restricted to BT cigalikes. I can see it still being possible to put your own setup together. More expensive and difficult, mail from China, and all that. But as long as there is some wiggle room left people will go on pushing the envelope. I can see an endless battle with the regulators, lawsuits, new getarounds, new regs, more getarounds. PV's will be sold as flashlight batteries. Someone will figure out another use for tanks and use that to sell them. And think how many tanks there already are in the world, I've got a dozen of them. Tinkerers will figure out how to enhance the BT gadgets. Not sure how the nicotine regs will be evaded, but I have confidence in the ingenuity of people. Having it become an underground activity might even make it more attractive. Sooner or later they will give up trying to stop it.

Can you imagine a world where we have to explain to a cop that our mod isn't for vaping, we just use it for :censored:.

in twenty years, I see the majority of smokers converted to vaping or quit all together.

I see BT owning the vape industry and totally controlling nicotine.

I see refillable open tank vape devices becoming as popular as the typewriter.

I see taxes the same as smoking .... vaping isn't going to be any cheaper than smoking.

I imagine walking along the beach quietly when I see in the distance something familiar. As I get closer, it becomes clearer....Its a mod! A giant mod held by a giant hand! I am excited at first and then filled with horror as I realize - its the hand from the Statue of Liberty holding a mod (the torch was replaced in 2024) and that's when I realize "Damn you! You blew it all to hell" and then the apes start chasing me again.

I see us all being mod makers to get around being limited to BT cigalikes. Individual components will be available, and we'll either have an underground option for nicotine or learn to like 0 mg.

Stock up on the nicotine and brew your own juice. I have enough in the freezer at 10% to last my life and that of my progeny.

there will be something called the NicStic... its gonna look like the new pop-up sharpie markers, instead of ink it will be nic juice. Simply push the top cap button and out pops a "felt" nic soaked protrusion, lick it and get your nic.... no "dangerous" second hand vape filling the air. Descrete, simple, and most likely expensive as all hell... and ohhh yea... non refillable :(

and when it is invented... remember I mentioned it here first ;)
