This is all heresy and conjecture, but I think Al Gore invented it. No just kidding. I had someone who had a friend who knew a guy tell me it was born from the nebulizers doctors and hospitals use to treat lung disorders and asthma attacks. Nebulizers and atomizers work slightly differently, but the end result is the same. A nebulizer uses a sterile base (not sure what) mixed with small amounts of medicine, then by some process bring that mixture to a cool vapor for inhalation. Some smart person replaced medicine with nicotine and flavors, found a safe and readily available base (PG), and voila! Bring to a boil (atomization) and inhale. I don't have any hard facts to support this, it's just what I was told, and it sounds reasonable to me.

A little ole Pharmacist in China was bent over his microscope one day shortly after his dad died from lung cancer, and suddenly the lightbulb over his head exploded in a bright flash of inspiration.

    Actually: ;)

I can't remember what the base is, but I work in a group home for people with intellectual disabilities, and one of my client's uses a nebulizer every now and then. That's interesting that he's almost kind of vaping! lol

    Wow is right.
That link leaves out about 20 years worth of history that basically forged the term vaping.
Skips from an obscure '60s patent to Hon Lik in 2006.
There weren't e cigs in between but there was a huge vaping scene, which is where the term "vaping " came from.
I saw my first vaporizer in 1991.
I dont want to break rules here but no one gets to rewrite history.
