Both nicotine and PG are rarely available locally.

We DIY folks have some vendors for that stuff. Here are some of the more popular ones:

1. Wizard labs
2. E cig express
3. My freedom smokes
4. High Desert e-cig supply
5. DIY flavor shack
6. DIY one stop shop

If you are new, you might want to try out one of their kits.

Also, note that we have a DIY subforum. Please be sure to read the posts on nicotine safety and handling.

Good luck

There are a lot of good recipies fo e-liquid. I see VG is readily available at Walmart etc. What about PG, where do I get that? What about Nicotine? Is that readily available? I think I want to DIY my e-liquids.

Hi hvac999, You won't be sorry DIY. Its fun, cheap and easy.
Also look at DIY E-Cig Supplies & E-Cigarette Liquid | Make Your Own E-Liquid | RTS Vapes
After you find flavors you like in smaller amounts from say, Wizard labs, you can save money on larger amounts at RTS.
You can also find PG and VG on AMAZON.COM

i am pleased with both from Wizard or RTS Vapes - they both have more flavors etc than i thought possible. Sometimes it really does come down to how picky you are about the bottle it's in! I have some from a Canadian vape store and the bottle has a needle top with a cap that is ideal for refilling a tank fed RBA.

The prices vary a bit too. My math sucks so i tend to buy my 36mg nic in PG, then just add 50% VG to it. The last little bit is flavor and pfft - unless you have an allergy np!

I'm big on goodprophets for my nic base, been using it for a decent length of time, very attractive price on their 36 mg/ml (frequent sales).

Tractor supply runs about $20/gallon for PG USP, it is fine to use. "USP" is the key -- that establishes strict standards for purity, restricts certain specific potentially harmful contaminants. A gallon lasts a long time, but it's cheaper than buying little bottles from DIY suppliers over time.

USP PG is USP PG. I've used more than a few gallons from TS and it is pretty good so don't let the marketing on the label fool ya'.

And remember PG producers are quite a bit like Red Gold canneries. There's all kinds of different labels pasted on the exact same stuff, but in this case there are specific standards that have to be met to have that "USP" on the label.

Seriously make sure you take all the precautions suggested for mixing your own. I was fortunate to have a family member who'd been mixing for years before I got involved. Whatever you do, do not start out with a very high nicotine concentration, and make sure you're getting it from a reputable source.

Lot's of great suggestions so far; just wanted to put on my "paranoid" hat and scare you good so you think twice about every move you make :)

I wish I could like that twice!^^

All too often I see more experienced DIY'ers suggesting 100mg/mL nic because it is a dollar or 2 cheaper.
Imo Anyone new to DIY should, *at maximum*, use 60mg/mL nic. Even then, they should be wearing eye protection, gloves, and thoroughly clean up after.

The LD50 is around 60mg/mL. That means around half of a mL of 100mg/mL can kill you! I'm talking about horrible nicotine overdose, then heart palpitations, then death. This is the concentration that can kill you, let alone enough to make you sick.
If you have ever seen a 1mL syringe then you know- its not that much.

Be careful!

So, seeing as how Wizard Labs is closed for a few days and I've got time to put a list together... other than nicotine and VG/PG, I've been looking for a decent "stuff you need to get going" kit. You know, gloves, maybe syringes (though I'm getting quite a collection of those here already), etc. I notice a few places have starter kits, but they're either "coming soon," or obviously don't contain what I'd need.

Kits were mentioned earlier in the thread -- any suggestions on one that's particularly good for a complete noob looking to get started? Even if it's one of the out of stock ones, just to see what would be in a good starter kit?

And how 'bout stuff a noob might not think of... like stuff I'll probably want to put in my juice that I don't know I want yet. I mean, I know I need VG, PG and flavoring, but... is there anything else that's a must?

I know a lot of this info is scattered in various threads around the forum, but you guys have so far been so informative for this lurking noob that I figured I'd ask while you were paying attention. ;)
