cartos, the filter type things that screw on cig-alikes use some cotton type to hold the liquid

and drippers/rda's dont have a tank and you drip the liquid on your wicking

but these options don't hold as much liquid as a tank can

cigalikes would be a serious downgrade in vaping experiance for most people

drippers are used a lot by people building their own coils ...

hope this was of some use, if i understood the question wrong do tell :p

Your question is a little confusing. All atomizers (the thing that holds/vaporizes the juice) use a coil (made from various metals like kanthal, titanium, nickel, stainless steel) and a wick (usually cotton or rayon). The atomizer is connected to the 'mod' that contains the battery and is the power source for heating the coil.

Tanks come on configurations that can have pre-built coils (coil and wick pre-manufactured as a single replaceable unit) and/or rebuildable decks (where you build and wick your own coil). In pre-built coils, the most common wicking material is cotton.

Dripping atomizers (RDAs) require you to build and wick your own coils.

Tanks hold more juice. Dripping atomizers hold very little juice and require you to apply juice much more frequently to maintain the vaping experience.

If you are really interested in dripping atomizers, just do a search and you will get a ton of information.

Hope this was helpful.

instead of tank based I heard people building their own vapors but using cotton instead of tanks for the juice what providers supply this?
It sounds like you're talking about an RDA or "Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer." The "rebuildable" part means you make your own coil (although there are rebuildable tank atomizers as well, called RTA's -- all of them together are called RBA's for "ReBuildable Atomizer") and the "dripping atomizer" part means that instead of a tank reservoir to hold your juice, you just open it up and put drops of juice directly onto the wick and coil (the wick often, but not always, being made of cotton). You'll get somewhere from "a few" to "several" hits off of this, depending on everything from your style of build, to the size of the atomizer's "juice well," before the wick dries out and you need to reapply more juice.

If you don't mind a long wait shipping from China, check out FastTech for a great selection of affordable clone RDA's. If you find something you really like, and want to support its creators you can go ahead and buy an authentic one for 10x as much from wherever they make them, but clones are a great way to try things out first before you invest in something you're not sure you'll like. Or, if you don't care about the whole clone vs. authentic issue, they're a great way to try out lots of different models, without breaking the bank.
