Where to start

Hi, I do not use e cigs as yet but would like to convert for both my budget and my health. Thing is, I have no idea of what is good and what will suit me. I've read many posts in this forum and viewed several reviews but still have no idea which to start with. I know me and I know what will keep me from using them to replace cigarettes.

1. It has to feel natural. Things like unatural weight, surface and taste will all put me off. I know, I know - it won't be perfect but the closer to a natural feel, the better.

2. It has to be easy - I want to be able to just pick it up and puff - no messing with filling it every time I want to use it, no cumbersome filling processes and you don't need a degree in engineering to put it together.

I do want vapor and I would like a natural looking "red" light. I think the blue would just feel wrong. I normally smoke non-menthol lights and while I'm open to flavor variations - I do NOT want something sweet or fruity.

I want this to work for me and I want it to be a success. Currently my smoking habits are out of control - basically I smoke without thinking about it and many times can't even remember having a cigarette. I work from home so this makes it very easy to just burn through a ton of cigarettes without realizing it.

All e cig companies claim their's are the best. I'm hoping that the folks here can put me on the right track.

Thank you.

If you want it close to natural, then you're looking at the super minis. The 510 is all the rage now. A good little unit. Close to cigarette size. The only differance is it has a manual battery, where you have to push a button to active it. Others have auto batteries that switch on automatically. I don't push any certain type or brand on people. Read up on the 510 - M401 / 402 - RN4081 - 801 - 901, and see what you think. You'll have folks pushing models down your throat, but the choice is yours. Check them out, and then people can answer your questions.

They'll havce to be filled. No real way around it. Just don't get sucked in by the 1 cartridge = 1 pack of cigarettes BS. I cartridge is only worth a couple of stinkies. That's why we get juice, and fill them ourselves.

This may not happen. The e-cig is an electronic device, and requires care and maintenance. You don't have to be a rocket scientist, but it does require a learning curve.

Hundreds of flavors are available.

Thanks for the response. I did read the New Members Forum post about the amount of nicotine in a cartridge and how much you smoke a day. When you get the juice and fill them yourself - how often do you need to do this (I'm sure it varies by how much you smoke) but is this something you do once a day? once per "pack", once per cigarette?

Read up on the 510 - M401 / 402 - RN4081 - 801 - 901, and see what you think.

What is the brand name for these models?

Thanks again for the response

Take a look at SmokeStik too. I have it and a 510 (manual). I do like the SS for its convenience...and it does look like the real thing if you get the white. It takes just a little bit of time to adjust to the extra weight (and I doubt there any that do not weigh more than the real thing).

Just a forewarning though...you will go through some cartridges so order plenty extras. Although theirs are fairly reasonable, it didn't take me long to realize that I would start refilling them.

Here's my take. I had all the concerns you voice when I first started vaping. Black? Blue Light? Button? Gimme a break!!!

Now I was prodded into the black by my 15 year old who found the technology for me after begging me to quit and the one simple logical reason.. My ecigs are not disposable... White = Dirty eventually.

Blue Light - much less chance of someone making a stink about 'Smoking' no cig is blue on the end

As far as my first ecig, I actually contacted Dave at Rocky Mountain Vaper and he spent some time explaining things to me. I wound up chosing the 510 manual.... first of all... the battery is sealed so newbie mistakes like flooding the atty would not wind up gumming up my battery. There are no primer puffs to heat it up before you can get a good draw. No whistle tip, since I haven't used that since they were additional filters to put on analogs. Didn't like em then.

No ecigs is going to feel like the real thing but I think my 510 is pretty close.. it took me a few hours of use to get used to the thing but have been happy ever since. From everything I read your first ecig will not be your last but I can say I am very happy with my 510. The only reason I am looking for a backup model is in case parts become scarce for the one I have.

Trust me I was VERY skeptical at first but have not looked back with a regret so far. You can always order prefilled carts (those are generally limited in flavor) but you should at least TRY refilling. Its really not that hard.. just a few drops on the filter, let it sit five minutes, and you are good to go. Most liquids come in dropper tipped bottles anyway.

BTW don't believe what you read about a cart equaling a pack of smokes.. That may be what is in them but it is definitely not what you get out of them. This may be due to residual juice on the cart material.

I simply fill about three carts if I am going to be out for the day. Otherwise topping up is your best bet.

Once you get the juice, you fill a bunch of cartridges and replace the plug. When your cart runs dry, you simply plug in a filled one. Your vaping habits will determine how many carts you'll need in a day.

There are reaqlly no set brand names for the models. Many places take these models and brand their name on them. You're best to go by the model numbers.

I have M403 gold edition with orange LED from litecigusa. I love it. Very close to analog.
It is light so you can hold in the kisser. Using with USB pass through its performance rivals 510.

I also have 510 but it is to heavy, wide and long for me.

BTW M403 same as M402 and M401 just different battery lengths.

I'm getting a lot out of this thread and thank you for your input - but have to ask. As a serious newbie I am not sure of some of the terms you are using - Is there a glossary in the forum some where? I'm sure once I get into this and learn the vanacular many more of the forum posts will make better sense to me.

I tried two or three models before my sister-in-law put me onto the SKYRL. It not a manual so all you have to do is pick it up and use.
It's the closest thing (for me) to the real thing. It's a mini so it's not all that heavy. You don't have to take the prep draw with it (even after it's sat over night). You don't have to kill your lungs trying to get a good drag. It gives good vapor. Basically, the Skyrl is very very very simple and soooo very easy. Even reloading if you should change your mind about reloading.
The company is from the USA but don't know if their product is actually made in the USA.
A minus for the cig is the 30 warranty. During that time, they will honor any bad parts which is a plus. It's a personal grip because I'd like a longer warranty but from what I hear, not too many companies who have longer ones back them anyway.
My only problem is one battery died on me only after a few months. You get two complete e cigs in the starter kit and, thank goodness, the one remaining battery is holding up like a champ.
If I was you, I'd get two starter kits (four batteries, four atomizers. I can't remember how my cartridges, but about the average).
After my original order, my sister-in-law, and I combine our order to put in a $100 order so we can get the free shipping. So if you decide to go with the Skyrl, tell them that she (Janet Harris from Mackinaw) recommended it. To do that you have to leave a comment in the comment box when you order.
One last remark. I still use the other models, but only at home and sometimes I get so fed up with them, I'll go get the Skyrl. Right now I wish I had a .... load of money because I'd order the makings for a 100 complete e cigs.

I've really taken to heart a lot of what's been posted, read much more of the forum, viewed more reviews, etc...

I have decided that the vaping experience is going to be much more important than the appearance of the stick. I hadn't thought about catching flack about it looking too much like an analog. Also upon reading more - you have convinced me that a manual is much better (like - really - I can learn to push a button lol).

At the moment, based on info about vapor, throat hit and various reviews I've seen/read I am leaning toward a 510 Titan from Totally Wicked with mega manual batteries and a pcc. Just a couple more quesitons regarding this:

I know the 510 is a bit larger than a mini - is the size and weight an issue? - how well is it balanced?

Also - a question about a usb passthrough. I work all day at my computer from home (logo and web design) and a usb passthrough "sounds" like it would be very usefull for me - however even the videos I found of other passthroughs kind assume basic knowledge. Does the passthrough "replace" the battery? i.e. you remove the battery and attach the passthrough? Do users feel using a passthrough is cumbersome or awkward?

In you "subjective" opinions - is the titan a good choice?

Thanks again
Connie

On the back of the charger is the model # 808 & the insignia C E

On the cord to the charger & don’t think it will offer any help in IDing it.
(UL) E203743 NISPT-2 18AWGX2C 105 degree C VW-1 GRAND CSA 210456 NON-INTEGRAL SPT-2

On the plugin
CRUDOT CRC E214177

I don’t know if this will help IDing it as DSE-103

I’d really like to find out though: Is there any up close & personal pics of the DSE-103—would love to take a look.

I did find some pics on the Internet and it could be the same. Charger is different shaped but it's got the inserts to the cart that make it so easy to refill and it's the only other one I've found that has the screw top lid.
Jim, have you used it? I found a few bad comments and would really like you comments. Anyone else who has used it too.

The DSE103 sure has better prices.

Here's my take on how to make it as "natural" as possible... fill up as many carts as you'll smoke in the morning... make it part of your routine... then, when you "light up" just use it. Switching out cartridges is extremely easy, just pull the dry one out, and put the fresh one in. Piece of cake. The maintenance is not a big deal. Definitely different than smoking analogues of course, but worthwhile. THE IMPORTANT THING is that while you're vaping, that it feels like smoking. To me, the vapor production of my 510 is a close approximation, as is the feel of the drag. I love it. The physical size is different, a little bigger, but that takes so little to get used to it.

Bottom line, try it out, places have intro kits for as low as 30 bucks... you'll love it, and forget all about how "authentic" the experience is... that's what happened to me. (I wanted the autenticity too at first, but now, a week later, I'm like "who friggin cares?!?")
