So I picked up an IPV2S and an IPV3 and I wanted to know what batteries you guys recommend? Usually just use mechs but I wanted variety. I know for the IPV3 I should always use the same pair of batteries ie. charge and discharge at the same time. In essence "marry" the batteries. My problem is this, I have like 6 Sony VTC's (3's 4's and 5's) but I want to buy some new ones. I had a purple Efest in the past but shorted it out on a hybrid mech (doh!) so never really put it through its paces. A little info on how I plan to use the devices- The lowest I sub ohm is .3 for RDA's and about 1.2-.8 on kayfuns plus I just picked up an Atlantis with the .5 coil pack.

I recently saw the MXJO 2500mah 35a batteries but not sure what to think. I know the Efest was reliable the short time I had it... any others? Should I go MXJO or purple Efest?

Baditude, what do you think?? (always give great advice, so I'd love your input please :))

Thanks in advance! :vapor:

The IPV3 at 150 watts will draw almost 30 amps from each battery when battery voltage is low. The resistance doesn't matter, you set watts and the mod puts that out no matter what the resistance is if it is in the correct range.

You can still get VTC4 from some suppliers, but be careful that they are reputable or you could get counterfeits. RTD Vapor have them in stock. They also have Xtar branded VTC4, but I think they are a bit longer than the Sony branded batteries.

I have not seen anything I trust that shows the MXJO is actually 35a continuous. I suspect it's 20a with 35a pulse like all the other 20a batteries out there. Here's a thread about the purple Efest. They are 20a.

Baditude is away for a bit. Hopefully he'll be back soon.

Always draws upwards of 30A per battery when low? Well bugger me with a fish fork that's ridiculous. OP - May want to look into 30's then. Orbtronic also has an SX30 which is a 30A battery that is well liked and not insanely pricey.

How do you charge your IPV3..my friend got one and there is a covering on the adapter that can't be removed. Looked it up and it seems they covered it because it was unsafe so you need to charge externally?

Yes the batteries should be pulled out and put in a quality 18650 charger. The built in port is apparently one heck of a hazard.

I may be misunderstanding something here with these comments or my ohms law as it relates to regulated mods... so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Inorder to get your set wattage, with the voltage of the battery is lower, the PV will increase the amperage pulled from the battery to make up for the lower voltage and achieve your desired wattage... therefore it won't ALWAYS pull 30amps from each battery, but may depending on your wattage setting.
In either case, its always better to have a higher amp rating, even if you don't go up that high.

Always go off the continuous amp rating, never the pulse.. some pulse ratings are measured doing longer pulses, but still better to error on the side of caution and only go off the continuous. You "Can" pull more than the continuous amp rating without causing the battery to vent, but that doesn't mean it won't vent or that you aren't damaging your cells.

There are only a few companies that actually make battery cells - Sony, Panasonic, LG, Samsung (I'm sure there are a few others, but thats off the top of my head). Most of the other brands just rewrap existing cells with their branding. I think the Efest purple 35amp 2100 mAh batteries are rewrapped VTC4s and the purple 2500 mAh's are the the LG HE2s.

Another Poster mentioned buy VTCs from a reputable source like RTDVapes... I error on the side of caution here and buy all of my batteries from them. There is also illumination supply and sun vapors that have been listed by lots of users here as reputable sources. There are a lot of knockoffs out there and its not worth saving a few dollars to risk venting a battery close to my face for pulling 20amps from a battery that said it was 30 amps but was really only 10.

Be safe, glad you're doing your research here first :)

I've been using MXJO's in my Ipv3. I've also used LG HE4's. Current set up is 0.36Ohm and I set the Ipv3 to 50 or 80w depending on the juice and how open or closed off I feel like running my Competition Doge! version 2. The MXJO's will easily last a day. The LG HE4's are done for at around the 12 hour point.
