Alright so last month my Tesla 160w box fried itself. I love the box and I decided not to send it back to fasttech I have heard that their turn around time on the holidays can be up to 4 months. I need my mod sooner than that and I'm in love with my box so why compromise? I have never purchased a singular chip for a mod so I was hoping to reach out to those of you who have replaced them, bought your own or like to tinker!

Questions I have

Best bang for my buck?

What are the differences between chips other than safety and protection?

Are some chips my better than the other for example a dna chip Vs an Sx chip.

What I am looking for:
Temp control
Up too 160 watts or greater (for my TFV8 tank)
Safety, safety, safety
Simple menus are nice but maybe not a must I can learn.
I also enjoy puff counters and battery monitoring.

Thanks for looking and hope to hear from you all soon!

IMO, the best DIY chips are the DNA's & the Yihi SX j's.
How even now a days DIY'ing has become a hobby, as it is cheeper just to buy a premade mod!
If you look around you can find a good mod with either of these chips, for about 100$ or less.
By the time you assemble all the parts, your not saving any money.

Personally I like DNA's better cause of the E-Scribe, But both are solid well built & performing chips :)

I appreciate the input. It's not a total DIY saving money wasn't the theme here. It is that I have a box that the chip fried in (bad chip) I love the box but I don't want to deal with the long turn around and the chance of getting another faulty one from the factory. So going with a superior chip in a mod box that I have fell in love with seems like a positive choice for me. All I will need to do is buy a chip and an up and down button to fix my box I have everything else or it is salvageable.

If you're talking about inserting a new, non-Tesla chip in the unit, be prepared for headaches. Unless you can find an OEM of the Tesla chip, swapping for something else id fraught with problems, from button activation's to having to employ a screen that doesn't fit the cutout for the current. Also, are you sure the problem is in the chip, and not some bad solder point elsewhere in the box?

As Steamer pointed out, if you want a safe, TC chip, it is DNA or Yihi board with a DIY mod case if you insist on building your own. But retrofitting one of those chips into the dead Tesla is an invitation for all sorts of problems.

Thank you for the suggestion. Yes the problem was the chip I was using it one night and all I heard was a pop and had to pop my batteries out as fast as possible and unscrew the inside plate because it was catching on fire. I had used it for a month no issues. I put fresh married battery's that I bought new for the mod. They were authentic lg's. Everything was normal. The chip in the mod was supposed to have 3 safety shutoffs and the board burned before it could I guess. Sad stuff really. I love that mod.

For reference here is the box and board. This was the extent of the damage.

Given it was only a month old, have you checked with the vendor or manufacturer for repair or replacement under warranty?

Manufacture I can not find their warranty information or where to contact for returns. Most of what I read about Tesla contacting the company who you purchased from. ( fast tech) around this time of year getting a return product could take over 4 literal months. It would be great if Tesla had a US based warranty contact.

1. Fasttech has a US return center.
2. Fasttech is in China, they have different holiday seasons than western countries.
3. Fasttech has one of the best customer service policies in the industry. Far better than most US modders. You should contact them before bashing them.

My orders average 9 days to California from China with the free shipping.
It wont take 4 months.
