Hello:).
Just wondering, which points are the most important to keep clean in my mech mods to keep up conductivity? Just where the metals meet the battery? Or.... The whole thing?
Also how do you recommend to clean them? Toothbrush? Soak in water? Or rubbing alcohol?
and what's the deal with nolax? Does it help? Does it help on all types of metal or just certain kinds?
Thanks!

Contact points can vary depending on where the switch is located. Contact at the battery ends is the place to clean. On a side switch mechanical mod, the button usually presses in and makes contact with a "pole" that comes out of the end cap. That would be an extra contact area to clean (end of the button and on the pole). I sometimes also brush off the threads with a tooth brush to make sure there's good contact on the end cap and the 510 connection head.

Don't forget the 510 connection itself. Clean out any juice that may collect there with a paper towel. Every so often, I use alcohol on the 510 connection to make sure I get out any accumulated dried juice. Rubbing alcohol or high proof vodka/everclear (PGA) works to remove the juice.

usually every so often i just lightly clean the threads and pin in the 510
but usually once a month i clean the threads on the part of the mod i unscrew to insert the battery, the switch contacts, the end cap threads, the pins that touch the battery and even wipe down the spring if it has one.

what and where to clean has a lot to do with what mech, how its built and what its made of,

keeping threads and contacts clean in some cases can really cut the voltage drop on some mods.
