I get that -- and I totally agree that wattage isn't everything, but there is no real gain with buying provari. I love the fact that it is a US mod that has such a high markup -- but if that money is to justify a warranty -- I could buy 10 equivalent mods to keep on the shelf in case i made one release the magic smoke... I could also point out that extended warranties are a bad investment in general...
Ok, this is why I bought a Provari. Actually, I have bought two and was gifted two more. I purchased my own Mini & Standard Provari, and was gifted another Standard. I was recently PIF'd a P3 which I've only had about a week.

I did my research prior to buying my first regulated mod. Everything pointed to the Provari as being the "gold standard" of regulated mods. It was made in the USA, including the superior and immensely accurate processor. Your last puff will always be as good as the first with each battery. It had a long history of being extremely reliable and durable, even despite some pretty impressive accidents and abuse.

I've owned my fair share of Chinese-made regulated mods, half of which either died an early death or broke. China doesn't repair their products, they expect you to buy another. "We make cheap. You buy cheap. It break? You buy another." I got fed up having to buy a new mod every 2 - 6 months, so I decided to spend the extra bucks on a Provari so in the unlikely event that it should dysfunction or break, it could be repaired. It became an investment in my quest to stay off of cigarettes. I believe they are such a great value that I own multiple Provari's.

Why Provari?

People may not have the same perspective as me, and I'm fine with that. Buying my first and subsequent Provari's was the best money I've ever spent in vaping. I've not had any problems with any of the Provari's, and I have peace of mind knowing that if I ever do I can get it repaired and returned back to me in about a week. I also appreciate the "smoother vape" its processor provides, subtly better than the "rattlesnake" chips of my other regulated mods. I also admire the fine production quality of the threads and fire switch.

what was the problem with it?

nothing tehdarkaura ... just not for me.

my sweet spot for vape is 7.5 watts on a Kayfun Lite v2+ ... and not much is going to provide those 7.5 watts smoother or more consistent than a Provari.

plus, there is no possible way that box mod would last 5 or more years ... it is new tech, sure ... but it is also cheap tech.

its all buck and boost circuits there is no magic :) and in 5 years i'm pretty sure I would be ready for a new mod anyway.

lets agree to disagree -- you guys like your provari's and that's great.

I like the fact that you are both outspoken supporter of an american company -- maybe one day they will broaden their product range and I can be a proud provari owner too :)

Now I'm with you on that!!!

I'm not even sure why they are so behind the times. Poor business model for sure but with the explosion of vape gear in the past year or two I bet even they must have had an increase in sales. If they invest some of that money into research they should be able to make a safe affordable unit in the 30-50 watt range at the current price point. Still have a goofy shape though.

Now for a great USA product thats powerful enough for the times we have Zen. A vape shop I go to when I'm in the city has a ZNA30 thats calling my name. At that price point I do have to give pause. That pause gives me long enough to notice the single battery. They also have a Kayfun V4. Out the door with a Provari/Zen and V4 plus battery and tax and a bottle of juice is pushing $600. Gotta kinda wonder how many people quit smoking on a 600 setup.

yeah, I don't know what it is about the chip ProVape uses ... but IMO, there is something to it over an eVic or Vamo.

The thing for me though ... I've reached the peak of my vape journey and have zero desire to change anything about it.

I can honestly see myself being just as satisfied vaping these 7.5 watt Provari/Kayfuns 5 years from now as I did one year ago.

You will do just fine with a Provari and a Nautilus Mini with bottom vertical coils. I own two Provaris (2.5), one of which has never been unwrapped since I bought it months ago. I bought it for a backup "just in case". Two days ago, I decided I would look again at the version 3, and while I was looking, I noticed the 2015 classic, which I had never seen before. Comparing the 2015 and the P3, I opted for the 2015 classic. It's $50 cheaper, and I like the look of it better. I already have batteries, a charger, and the Nautlus mini, so I didn't need a starter kit of any kind.

I didn't really NEED to buy another one, but I like the improved features and the fact that it starts out as a mini (which I didn't have), goes longer with an extension (one included), and even longer with another extension (which I ordered).

If you're interested or think you'd be interested in low-ohm vaping and cloud chasing, this won't do it for you. I'm only interested in staying cigarette-free, and I love this mod. Provaris are solid as a rock, excellent quality devices, made in the USA and backed by a great company. I know if anything ever goes wrong, I can send it in and get it fixed. Not to mention that I ordered the 2015 classic on Thursday, and mine is already out for delivery today (Saturday), all the way from Washington to Texas. Two days; that's fast!

I can't say enough about the company; they're great!

Good luck to you, whatever you decide!

Edited to say the mailman just delivered my prize. It is beautiful! I know I'm going to be happy with the versatility of the different sizes and the added features. Now if I can just learn how to use the menu...LOL

Provari's are solid reliable devices and if you are a content low watt vaper it should serve you well without buyers remorse. As far as the end all to buying new devices that again will depend upon if you are a content lower watt vaper, and even the content low watt vapers end up with an over abundance of Provari's lol. If you are still finding your way on your preferred vaping style it might just be another mod purchase on the road to discovery.

If you think you might want to expand and experiment with other options I would suggest to look at the SX M class. Not a USA made mod but the build quality is nice and will meet your current vaping style with the added benefit of TC for your Nautilus if you choose and will allow you to experiment with other directions without requiring a new device. Of course the SX M is not time tested like the Provari, but for me having both I find the SX to be a contender.

OP, I think I read in the thread you pulled the trigger on a 2.5? Congrats on the purchase.

The problem with a ProVari Haters Is that they have never had one. So they will never get it.
I assume you've had the mods I have?? And all the others that don't prefer Provari.

What things didn't you like about them??

Under your policy of having to buy everything (I say buy because I have used Provari and not liked them but maybe the magic kicks in sometime down the road??) things could get expensive.

I have been fortunate in that I can often tell if I like or dislike something before I buy it. Or in other cases like the Zen and SX M I have something to dream about.

All the mods you have? All the money you have spent searching for your perfect vape. Found mine in the ProVari!!
Good luck in finding yours!

Its interesting that a person listing what would cost me over 600 dollars in there sig line thinks I spend alot of money.

Since I switched to VW I've bought 3 mods which combined wouldn't buy a Provari (iStick 30 $45+IPV2 Mini $35+IPV4 $65). When I shopped for Provari is when I bought the iStick 30. If I had stayed at that level its all I ever would have needed. Good little box and at todays prices I could buy 10 of them for one P3.

Like you I collect mods. But I like to try new things. Some I like and some I don't
