I think what's missing is the butter and sweetness. A lot of Chocolate to me tastes more like cocoa powder. Chocolate is one that really seems to do better with steeping. That all being said here's a link to a Almond Joy Recipe ThunderBall posted that looks pretty darn good:

Good Luck. :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

Thank, Steve. I can say I liked the milk chocolate more than dbl for this recipe as well as a few others. The dbl seems to be better mixing with stuff that is already sweet. However, the toffee may have been just what I needed for almond joy. I was going to get a vial of 'smooth' as well and try that.

Their White Chocolate strikes me as sweeter and richer than the others. I've been known to add a little of it to Double Choc for just that reason. They combine well.

I thought about grabbing a vial in my next order just to see what it's like. Guess I will do that!

Consider trying a tiny bit of a nutty tobacco.

tobacco for an almond joy mix. I don't quite see the connection. If it's the nut taste I would think a little AP or almond flavor would be better. As far as enhancing the sweetness or thickness of the chocolate I don't see where tobacco comes in. I would think to thicken maybe .05% marshmallo and to sweeten a little sweetener. Hangsen chocolate cream may be a good choice but it's more of a creamer sweeter light chocolate. The actual Almond joy itself is more of a dark semi sweet chocolate.

I exclusively use their milk chocolate flavor because it's light, sweet, but not without some complicated undertones.

However, I'm mixing that at a very small percentage in a little cinnamon redhot flavoring and a lot of menthol. I'm only trying to add a note of smoothness and depth to the recipe.

Just from the scent, I don't think it has the right notes to do an Almond Joy or Mounds (everybody always ignores the Mounds, durn it). Maybe a dark chocolate for the depth and a sweetener to bring it up closer to the milk chocolate they use on Almond Joy (and Mounds, durn it)?

I enjoyed my first batches with milk choc. better than the clear dbl. The clear dbl. doesnt seem to stand out at all. I'm thinking I will go back to milk chocolate, possibly add smooth and/or something creamy like marshmallow and perhaps a bit of toffee. I haven't worked on a flavor this long!

Go very light with the marshmallo like a half a percent. You don't want the taste of marshmallo just it's thickening effects. EM will add a bit of thick creamieness and a touch of sweetness but again only use a half percent. Both can be used at the same time I do it for my deserts and it has worked wonders. If it's a lot of sweetness you'll need to use sacarlos (Usually found as sweetener) but I would try the latter first.

Plain old marshmallow or toasted marshmallow? I think I have both sitting around heh.

I meant a bit of tobacco to bump up the chocolate. I suggested a nutty one since he's already got nuts going, but it doesn't have to be. A tiny bit works for me. It doesn't sweeten or thicken, just makes it a bit richer.

It may work depending on the type of tobacco to give it a bit of a bitterness as found in dark chocolate. Can't quite say which tobacco would do that off the top of my head but it is an interesting idea.

I wrote a blog a while back on enhanceing chocolate but that really refered to sweet chocolate

Understanding the flavors you’re working with and how they interact and enhance 101.

A chocolate recipe and why it works. An example on why other flavors enhance the base flavor.

Chocolate is very hard to get right and it's even harder to find a chocolate flavor that works. With a little work and experimentation you will find that flavors that you think would ordinarily not go good together actually work good to enhance the base flavor.

base 35PG/65VG/12 - 18mg (your choice)
Hangsen Chocolate cream 5%
TFA Hazelnut 2%
Hangsen toffee 1%

Now here's the break down of why this flavor combination works.

The hangsen chocolate cream gives the mix its chocolate base

the hazelnut does not add a hazelnut taste but in fact enhances the chocolate taste.

The toffee does not add a caramel taste but adds a sweeter creamy taste to the chocolate.

The heavy VG base gives a sweeter thickness to the entire mix.

Steep for a week or 3 hours in a UC. Out of this world chocolate vape.

Good luck and happy vaping.
