Which two 18650s for DNA167 (only 50-60W .15-.45 builds).

I just bought a VT250S dual/triple 18650 DNA250. Will be using it in dual mode. I have a 3X 18650 reuleaux dna 200 already but can't use dual mode. It's too big in pocket as 3X 18650 for everyday hence I just ordered the DNA167.

I've been using LG browns in the reuleaux with no problem. I don't vape high wattage as noted. I will probably start vaping some new tanks though but not sure what, basically I want smaller tanks. All I use now are TFV8 premade coils (.12) or dual Clapton builds in RDA(usually .45). But maybe the premade coils in whatever I end up getting as new tanks (maybe baby tfv8 or some smaller aspire dual coil etc) will matter, but either way, 50-60W on a .12 or .45 ohm coil isn't high wattage and so whatever new tanks won't be 'high wattage' either.

So I think all I need is highest mAh possible. Is there anything better these days for my application that the LG browns (3000 mAh?)? Maybe something protected? Or protected would not actually be preferred (I have no idea with batteries, I just ask and then buy) Thank you.

EDIT: I WILL be leaving them in the mod and USB charging with the DNA's integrated balanced charger like I did for over a year with the rolo DNA200 if that matters. I might rotate them every couple weeks but I never did with the rolo and there is still zero difference read between the cells on a $500 multimeter. I read since I'm not vaping high wattage, the first cell might not be taking the most use anyway. I also have the DNA set to max battery life instead of max puffs (max charge to 4.1 instead of 4.2).

To avoid re wrap lesser quality & counterfeit cells only buy from reputable vendors.
I buy my cells here ---> Batteries and Chargers

When using a regulated power device resistance is irrelevant when calculating battery amp draw.

I primarily use Samsung 30s and I'm low wattage (lower than you even) and I get great battery life. I'd agree that the Samsungs might be great for your applications, and having something with more runtime, versus higher wattage capability is excellent for me. The Samsungs are also usually nicely priced and can be obtained inexpensively. I will be buying a few more pairs shortly now that the husband is vaping.

You need to be using a high drain battery to allow your regulated mod to function properly. Protected batteries are not high drain, as they typically only have a 4 amp or lower rating. Often times protected batteries will interfere with the protection circuitry of a regulated mod. Protected batteries are ICR chemistry, which fell out of favor for vaping use years ago.

The Samsung 30Q, Sony VTC6, and LG HG2 have the highest mah capacity (3000mah) of the high drain 18650 batteries. I use both the 30Q and HG 2; they typically can be found at a cheaper price than the Sony VTC6.

I would suggest that you DON'T use your USB port to routinely charge your batteries in the mod. The USB port is used primarily to install updated software, and to charge batteries for occassional emergency use. The USB port is typically the weak link with repeated use and is vulnerable to progressive physical wear and tear. For this reason alone, I suggest that you invest in a decent, inexpensive external battery charger (like the Efest LUC V4).

I’ll agree with everything posted with a caveat. The DNA boards were and are designed primarily for Lipo use rather than replaceable batteries. As such it has both robust balanced and safety charging features. The USB port is also designed better and less likely to fail than a typical board. I would have no issue using the usb charging option although there is no harm in swapping sets and charging externally and perhaps some good as you rotate through sets extending their lifespan.

thanks again. I'll pick from those 3 3000mAh cells.

As for physically ruining the usb on the chip from constantly in and out with the charging plug, I have no problems with mine. to be honest I think dust would be more of a problem. And bigger problem than that would be leaking tanks which I have had tons of juice run down my mod but clean it and it never had a problem.


The DNA200 was designed more for lipo packs. The 250 is for both lipo and dual/triple cells. According to this they sort of interviewed Evolv President.


The DNA 200 was designed specifically for use with LiPo packs whereas the DNA 250 is designed for LiPo packs and replaceable high-drain 18650s.

I would NOT USB charge anything except a DNA via usb though if it's multi batteries. Maybe some newer chips have caught up with evolve, but I know evolv and trust it. I do have an xtar sitting right here I use for my dual 18650 protected headlamp but I choose to just charge the mod overnight in a place that it can't start a fire and I would wake up anyway. It's also a bit safer to have escribe max charge to 4.1 instead of 4.2 volts.
