I keep hearing folks talking about juice that eats at plastic tanks. What should I avoid? I'm about a month into vaping and I use an Apollo Ego with T3 tanks. So far I'm vaping mostly menthol, as that is what I used to smoke, but am leaning more and more toward flavors like mango/peach and watermelon. Don't really care for the super sweet dessert type flavors, which are fine for the first few "oh, that tastes just like a cupcake!" moments, but tend to be too rich to puff on for long. Also, any recommendations as to juice vendors that may be up my alley would be appreciated! So far I've tried my local vape store's stuff, and while it was fine, the guy that runs the place is such a snob I can't bear to give him my business, and while the stuff I ordered from Apollo with my kit was fine, I feel like I can find better.

+1 for MBV. I am a fan of theirs. Good juice, great prices, super-fast shipping, and if you are fast use happy4th for 13% off your order. If you miss that, use code ECF for 10% off anytime.

I make no apology for being an MBV fanboy, I do vape other suppliers juices, but when it comes to bang for your buck, MBV is hard to beat. Their fruits are usually excellent but may need a flavor shot or two (which you can specify when ordering) for maximum flavor, but at 15ml for $5 you can afford to experiment what works for you.

What causes the tanks to break exactly? Is it a chemical reaction of some sort? I must admit I would be sceptical about inhaling something that breaks plastic...

Generally it's citric acid that will cause them to crack. Cinnamon is another and anything that contains oil (orange oil, lemon oil, etc). Not all orange and lemon's are oils so don't panic there...most vendors don't use them as they aren't good to inhale for long periods of time.

My understanding is that it is a chemical reaction upon the plastic "polycarbonate" with certain flavors, many of which fall into the cinnamon or citrus flavors. Certain molecules in the plastic bond with certain components of the juice; as more and and more molecules break their bonds with the plastic and bond with the juice molecules, the plastic's mechanical structure disintergates by cracking or melting. This is why you can often see "strings" in the juice attached to the cracks in the walls of the tank.

If it isn't already obvious, don't vape that juice any longer. Consider it contaminated with the leached chemicals in the juice.

I've written about this phenomenon for my blog. I have a video demonstration of a tank melting. The above list of flavors known to crack tanks. And I've provided photo examples of juice delivery devices that are safe to use with these juices. Just find the title, "Something Safe or Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors" and then click the title to view.

My favorite flavors have grown to be among my favorite flavors. One vender happens to be my favorite and specializes in fruit flavors. The name is Dripeez. My favorite is the Golden Apple, that gives you the taste and scent of biting into a Golden Delicious. It's also great with some Cinnamon or Rum flavor added. I also give high marks to the Pear, Lemon & Lime, Orange, Kiwi, Watermelon, and Cinnamon. All of these juices are all-natural, all-organic flavoring. Your choice of pg/vg ratio.

I use only pyrex cartotanks, the majority being IBTanks, so that I have no concern about what flavor I decide to use or try.

Thanks for the clarification. That makes sense I suppose. Eating too many oranges wouldn't be very good for your kidneys either :)
