I see new threads weekly, sometimes daily about how expensive vaping is.
I just got home from a trip to my favorite B&M where I purchased 240ml of my favorite 4 juices. I paid $90, that's 48 days of juice for me.
If I had gone out and gotten 2 cartons of cigarettes I would have paid +\- $110 and I would be dry in 10 - 11 days.

Let's do the math....
vaping = $1.88 per day (liquid only, satisfied with gear)
Smoking = $11.00 per day (killing myself slowly & hating every flick of the bic)

AND... I know without a doubt I could reduce that cost even more if I went DIY on the juice, so YES vaping is MUCH, MUCH cheaper, if you ask me.

Possibly, but what were you smoking to cost $110 for 2 cartons? In Alabama two cartons cost me around $64, granted they were Pall Malls and not Marlboro. I vape a good 20-30ml a day though. I was up to 1 pack of cigarettes a day, but about 2 cans of dip a day at the same time. I'm saving as long as I can fight the urge to buy new mods.

I did smoke Marlboro's, nothing else. Just couldn't stand the taste!

Let's use your figures....

2 cartons = $64...
2 packs a day = $6.40 per day ( we pay about a $1 less than that for 1 pack in Ga)

VS $1.88 per day for "in house" mixed juice

I'll take it!

Started Vaping about 3 weeks ago and I am into it a little over $600.00. It has been costly for me trying different tanks, different mods and juices but I have finally found what I like and I am hoping the expenses for this will drop drastically. Looking at it hindsight though, I would rather spend more now then to die a early death smoking the stinkies again.

And FWIW... I went through Alabama on my way to Panama City Fl about a month ago. My wife is still a smoker; she picked up a carton at a gas station and paid about the same there as she would have here in Ga.

You guys must be vaping really low-nic juice to vape 20-30 mls a day. Even 5 mls a day is high for me. I vape anytime I want (practically all day long, intermittently) and still only go through about 1.5-2.0 mls a day; that's a 30ml bottle every 3 weeks or so. At $7.50 a bottle from MBV, that's about ten bucks a month, nothing compared to the can of Drum I used to go through every 3 weeks. But I only vape 24mg/ml juice; could that be the only reason?

P.S. - My first pack of cigarettes cost me 50 cents.

Hope you don't only see it as money. Maybe some kind of self victory?

They're only just dumb numbers when you start calculating it till your solar calculator then runs out of power.

Oh course I see it as a "self victory". I have been addicted to the worst drugs on earth and now I can add cigarettes to the rather long list of things I have put behind me. I am talking about the financial aspect here though.

In the grand scheme of things (financially) cigarettes have had little impact on my wallet.

I agree, I'm just west of Chicago (burbs) and 1 pack of Marlboro is $10.75, in the city... even more. Last time I was at Navy pier, $15 for 1 pack. So yes, I do agree. However, the thing that kills me about most items coming out... brass and copper parts, even if coated in chrome. Talk about getting screwed... paying $20 or more for a device that, if scratched or flawed, will give you a good leaded vape.... Why we as a community do not insist of 100% S.S. and glass items is beyond me.

So far Ive spent way more then what I would have on a PAD but I also have equipment that isnt disposable and I have enough juice to last well into 2015 so it will be way cheaper in the long run and I actually enjoy it. For me its pretty much a hobby that just happens to be better for me then smokes.

Having already found the hardware I like long ago, and switching to DIY e-liquid, I spend about $90 a YEAR to fund my vaping habit. That's about $75 a year on e-liquid supplies, and $15 for 2 new batteries each year.

Compare $90/year to the probably $120/month I was spending on cigarettes. (Yes, that was my cost for my Marlboro Red's. I'm not going to compare vaping something I like to smoking a cigarette I thought was disgusting at the time)

My real worry is now that I am almost settled in on what I like and look forward to the vaping expenses slacking off, the government will see how much they are loosing due to big tobacco's loss of customers moving to the vaping realm and start taxing and regulating the very juices we fill our tanks with. IMO
