At this time, I have no intention on quitting vaping. I always loved smoking, just didnt love what it was doing to me, my health, my kids, my home, my car, my reputation, etc.

I enjoy vaping, but I do not enjoy all of the, as you said it, chaos, involved with it. It is fairly new, and with any new technology, it goes thru its churns and modifcations until they get it right. I just wanted a replacement for smoking that wouldnt make me sick, debilitated, or dead. Vaping is that for me. However in my quest to figure out the simplest and cheapest way to make the switch, has been nothing short of chaos. I'm grateful that I honestly believe I've had it a lot easier than the people who jumped on the vaping wagon when it first came out, but it's still all so very confusing for the newbie. And it doesnt help that there are no stores where you can go see and touch and maybe even try. No, it's a matter of fork over the money for a maybe. As I said, I feel I've been fortunate in this, as I havent spent all that much money getting to my bottom line of what works for me. About $450 on hardware that I will continue to use until it dies a natural death, but I have what should last me about a year and it's a helluva lot cheaper than what I was spending on cigarettes and I'm already so much healthier which is of course the main idea and motivation for vaping. I've spent about $180 on hardware that I no longer need, and have sold off $80 of it, and looking to sell off the rest. I'm set with what I need and works for me. Now to just get to that break even point and start on the money savings that will hit me in about 3 weeks. Cant wait. I'll feel much better about this after that day comes :)

I agree with a lot you’ve said…I think a little chaos is going to be a given when one begins vaping…I was lucky too…I didn’t invest a lot of money before finding something that met my basic needs…’Course the grass always looks greener as they say…It’s only natural to want to make sure there isn’t a better way…The hard part is keeping everything in perspective…

Although ECF itself could give the impression of controlled chaos….Imagine what it would be like not to have a site like this…..I know for a fact I’d still be smoking analogs if not for this place…

My last say on all of this would be to suggest that all vapers should have a well stocked "base system"….Something at the minimum…will provide a pleasant enough vaping experience that you know will keep you from smoking cigarettes…After that…it’s all a personal preference/luxury as to how much time and money you want to indulge in….

I'm all for keeping it simple, I'm a couple months in and I'm still using the 2 Egos I got to begin with and I'm even still using cartridges! I just want something to keep me from wanting to smoke and so far that's been all I need. Only thing I've bought so far are a 5 pack of atomizers, blue foam, and a bunch of juice. Some people get really into it and turn it in to a hobby, I don't want another hobby, I just don't want to smoke! I'm just waiting for the day where I feel like I don't need anything and can put it all away for good!

It was a couple threads about the Darwin that simplified things for me. It pointed out the wattage of whatever I was vaping mattered the most. Found the hardware combinations that produced this somewhat reliably, found I like 50/50 VG/PG juice, found the flavors I can DIY easily and enjoy.

The hardware portion of vaping is in it's infancy, but I am hopeful that a system that will supply juice to a heater of some sort, at a constant rate, without leaking, and last more than 2 days, and doesn't require constant maintenance will be developed, SOON. I don't care a wit what it looks like, people can stare all they like!

Yep, I can't wait to be there myself. I've still got some learning to do, but I'm pretty much into a good zone right now, and in a couple more months, I believe I'll have the smoothest time. I don't mind this phase too much though, it is helping me, and I will be able to make it easier on those around me who decide to start.

 for finding a comfortable spot!

First off...I simply love your avitar...precious! I am waiting for my Rivas to die then I'm getting a bottom feeder, hopefully a Reo. As far as juice I use Kickbassvapor and Madvapes...Happysmokes for my 4.99 atty...which last so far 4 months...I'm a minimalist (or so I try to be) too much stuff makes me nervous!...Happy vaping! Oops...was speaking of Salemgold's avitar...sorry

Thanks for clarifying, precious just doesn't seem apt for mine. Speaking of minimalism, it's so hard to be one in today's day and age. Or when you find the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/pay-forward-pif/85781-deals-steals.html thread!

The e-cig experience does get costly and complicated. I'm about 2 months in and have spent several hundred dollars trying to find the right combination of juice and equipment that will keep me off the real thing. I've decided to stick with whats worked so far and resist the temptation to try the flashy new mods (vv, Ego-T). I mostly drip the Joye 510 and Riva and occasionally fill some carts if I'll be driving or unable to drip. I' haven't had a good experience with cartos but may give it another try sometime. (Can anyone recommend a SR 510 carto that works well?) I have the Riva for the occasional LR atty experience. I retried some least favorite juices on the LR atty and actually liked them. Glad I didn't toss them in the trash. I spent lots trying different juices from different companies but now know what I like so I'll spend a lot less in the future. The best part is I still have no burning desire to smoke a cigarette. The trial and error and money spent has been worth it.

Im with you Copperhead, Took me awhile to jump into the e-cig family mostly because it looked like a lot of work, time, you had to be a rocket scientist, and anything but relaxing. Analogs were so peaceful, pop one in your mouth, flick your bic and its done. I guess as most folks here view all of that as relaxing, and thats a good thing. But for me, I like my KR808, XL batts and cartos. Heck its enough work just looking for the best prices on those. LOL..

I spent so much on stuff to start with, most of which has hardly been used or is still in the box/wrapper unused. Best money I have spent so far is on the tornado tank atty's, my last purchase in fact, around 7 weeks ago, only thing I use now. I Diy my own juice, but only in 5ml bottles as I have not yet found a flavour I love, lots that I like, but I want one I love to make a bigger batch of. But even mixing my own juice takes about half an hour every 2 weeks. Half hour of cleaning once a week. otherwise it's just a 10 second re-fill of tanks as and when and that's me done.............simple :)

Though I do want to try the LR version of the tanks and I will purchase a GGTS with an avs at some point...............but these are things I want to try and not things I have to have now! Otherwise I just need some more nicotine and a few more flavours and I'm good for the next 6 months I'd say :)

Did I start this topic? Lol the op took the words right out of my mouth. My coffee table is also a carto/juice/carto condom graveyard.

Its not the cost that bothers me,its the bleeping hit or miss nature of this stuff. I shouldn't have to search out one particular battery that this bloody carto will decide to work with, I shouldn't have to play scientist with every bloody piece of equipment that decides it doesn't want to work correctly. just once id like to pop on a carto and everything just works, it eats up so much of my time and is becoming a constant headache. 90% of it is the flipping cartos, why can't they just work? Why won't carto a work with battery or passthrough b? Its just so annoying.

For better or worse I think one thing that's glossed over is yea, there's an annoyance factor that sometimes requires the patience of a saint to keep from dumping the whole lot in the trash. Frankly its starting to get on my last nerve.

I agree fb, as much as I enjoy vaping the ultimate goal for me is to be done completely and the last thing I need is another hobby. I spent about $400 on a couple of 510's, a couple of eGo's and juice, and I'm hoping once the tackle box everything is stored in is empty I can just be done for good. Of course, like I tell my curious friends, if I throw it all away tomorrow, it will have cost me $400 to quit smoking for good, and I would be okay with that after many other failed attempts that were just as expensive.

This exact same level of tolerance was building in me with my eGo's. Finally tried the tank and while decent, just didn't sit well with me. No big problems but the occasional dry vape, sweating cart, etc, still bugged me...admittedly in ways that it probably shouldn't.

Rolled the dice and bought a GoGo kit. So far I am finally very happy. Full batt, full carto, good to go. Finally free to just simply vape. I was not near to chucking everything but I could smell it coming. Now if the GoGo can just hang around as an ongoing solution...

All I really wanted when I started all this was a cheaper safer way to smoke..at least part of the time. No one was more surprised than I was when I discovered I much preferred vaping and I was one of the lucky ones who just stopped without even realizing I had done it. It took a while at the beginning to find the right equipment for me, but in the end that turned out to be a simple Nicostick with a 901 atty and a DIY juice that included Anise and Coffee flavors combined.

I keep the makings of new Nicosticks on hand in a small box, and the DIY juice makings in a cool dark cupboard and that has been all I have needed for the last 2 years. I do keep a stick type on hand for social gatherings when I get together with smoking buddies, and I really got a kick out of ordering a bright red one for Christmas time, but other than that I pretty well have my vaping down to being as simple as smoking used to be. Not to mention that I am old enough to remember happily buying special Christmas boxes of cigarettes too, so even that is not all that different.

As to costs NOW (not in the beginning when I was still finding out what hit the spot for me) they are running consistently at less than $10 per month, averaged out over the year including absolutely everything.

It really all comes down to what you want out of it, there is no right or wrong way to do it. Personally I am grateful to all those who are pushing the envelope and getting into modding and so forth, without them I would not have found my own path to vaping bliss, simple though it might be!

i have lots of juice but my everyday rig is a simple mega ego passthrough with LR 510 atomizers. it gets hooked up to the pc or car when im doing that, if im mobile it last a good long while, and with good juice it tastes and vapes great.

that said, i soon will have a shiny new GGTS and AFS system, that should complicate things, i hope not too much though.
