Hello all... I just got home, it was a crazy 24 hour period. We got to Springfield at around 1 AM, got a few winks, then went to the hearing. There were many great contributors (great job Treece and JustJulie), Steve spoke with his normal passion for the industry. It was clear today that the legislators were pretty uninformed on the whole issue, and it really seemed like our voices were heard. I'm am cautiously hopeful moving forward. They delayed the vote to gather more information on the issue, and they are looking to re-convene in a week. If need be, we will be making another trip down next week.
Just bring all the leaford lanyards you have in stock. We will tarynn spin upside thier heads until they throw this stupid bill in the trash!!!

I've heard 20, but I would guess it was closer to 30. As soon as the ecig bill was done being discussed, the room pretty much cleared out.
Even if it was 20....I am sure that is more than lung association lobbyist, Kathy Drea. expected.....or wanted. She's likely not accustomed to having her wishes questioned.

I don't think she was the only one surprised by the turn out. I think the reps were pretty surprised as well. It was very cool to see and hear their reactions to the powerful messages that were delivered by many of the speakers.
It would be great if there had been even more people there. If I was less than 3 hours away I would have come in a heart beat.
Next week there needs to be a bigger showing.

He really did well... I was very proud to be a part of V4L. If it's back on the agenda next week, we are going back. I apologize to anyone if there are any unresolved issues lingering at the moment. I'm going to do my best to get caught up the rest of the week.
I was there with Mark and Steve and all. The above story is an accurate reflection of what I saw. I came away with very good vibes! More support than I expected in the audience AND on the committee. I think they were a little surprised by the amount of response.
As Kristin says though, the job is not done....simply set aside for more info/input.
ps. I got the feeling that the chair realized the votes weren't there and started wondering about possible amendments to attempt to get the votes. It didn't sound like the American Lung Assoc or other proponents were too keen on that.....
Just my gut feeling is all .....I am NOT a legal eagle type and really am out of my element when it comes to political process so take this with a grain of salt. I'm sure those more familiar with the process can elucidate and speculate far better than I!
I've been at work all day and unable to access computer - too crazy busy. And dying to get home and hear what happened. This is just wonderful news... I'm so proud of you guys, and will be cheering you all the way. Thanks so much! I have an insane schedule but will really try to get down to Albany when the NY bill comes up. The Feds can undo everything, but if the states keep setting this sort of precedent (I know, it's not over yet), we really have some ammunition.
