I recommended outside because of the pictures of the sink and ceiling from the last incident with a Mech mod that has been beaten to death.

But her batteries are out of the mod, so just plain venting, no big boom. A battery venting in the open, while relatively violent, can easily be contained in something like a sink, tub or LiPo bag.

But then my cat my get to it, this way the door is shut and no one gets in. As I may have already said, this is a spare bathroom that's only used for storing my juices. It's never used.
However, I plan to bring it to my work battery recycling center tomorrow. I'm not going to go through the hassle of returning it

Just Me. But I really think if there was going to be a Problem with that Battery that it would have Occurred by now. And Wouldn't pop up out the blue the 1st time you turn your back on them.

Would I attempt to Charge or Use it? Absolutely Figgin Not!
Would I put in in the Trash? No.

But would I put it back in its Original Packaging and wait for an RMA Number? Sure.
Brilliant!
Bravo!

it's really unknown. Could it simply take a weather pattern change and change in pressure or maybe humidity change or maybe nothing. To me it is akin to always treating firearm's as if they are loaded. Better safe than sorry

That tab is outside of the cell.

Imaginary environmental variables would have to penetrate the air tight, water proof cell to affect it.

That has NOTHING to do with that button.

;)

I just felt better having it in my bathroom. Just in case. It's probably fine but I don't want to risk getting battery acid all over my woman's cave
No battery acid.

Toxic fumes and flames if it vents.

The electrolyte doesn't like oxygen or air.

Keep it somewhere well ventilated and fireproof if you're concerned, preferably outside.

I'm just glad I didn't try popping off the button!
THAT would be potentially dangerous.

You'd risk opening the battery and creating toxic fumes and flames.

And you'd risk a dead short.

The positive post you can see.

But the negative is at most a mm away and consists of the whole casing of the battery.

To pry the button, you have to touch both.

That's the safest place to put a battery in, porcelain (I believe it's made of ceramic not %100 sure) is pretty much fireproof. Every time I've seen a house that burned down the ceramics are what didn't burn.
Except it's inside where the toxic smoke and fumes can contaminate the entire home.

I would be concerned with a venting battery flying out of the tub and bouncing off the walls. If those were in my possession they would be in the back yard sitting in a metal garbage can until they were to be shipped back which maybe be overkill but what the heck.
Good option.

But the pressure won't build up to be such a projectile without a mod around it.
