It says Cliff Stearns (R-Fla) has made a statement that "Before the FDA takes any immediate action, it should put forward scientific evidence that these products are harmful or unsafe."

It also lists another 2 reps seen using e-cigs, Duncan Hunter (R-Calif) and Collin Peterson (D-Minn)

The link to 'Main Page' says it is for Greensmoke.com, but says 403 (permission denied)

Wikipedia says this

Stearns is a member of the Electronic Cigarette Association and supports the use of these products.^[15

Except for e-cigs, EVERYTHING this guy stands for is 180-degrees opposite to me. But he is a bear for running house hearings and investigations.

I think we should offer to support him to investigate the FDA, the American Lung Association, and other groups that receive both Pharma And Federal money, with an eye to taking away the money, about 1 minute after any deeming regulation that would send us back to combustibles is issued.

AND find out if the FDA ever read, counted, or classified the comments they received and the studies Bill Godshall provided them. Bill said in his FDA testimony that in the past, someone at the FDA ordered his people to not analyze a scientific study he sent them.

The FDA needs to be held accountable for ignorance like this. It cant be any more clear what the true agenda is. I just dont get how they get away with it? What is the chain of command here? who do they directly report to. Sorry for not knowing this.

Pharmaceutical firms pay the majority of these fees. That statement is from wikipedia. Is this the kind of bias that fuels the decision making or does it go further than that?

2Coils: unfortunately this IS most likely the kind of bias that runs the FDA. The FDA is part of the Health and Human Services Dept and is led by Margaret Hamburg, who was appointed by Obama.

Cliff Stearns? He is out. New Rep is Ted Yoho, conservative tea-party member, and I don't know his stance on electronic cigs.... maybe I should find out.

To answer the question of this thread, Cliff Stearns was a Republican Congressman from northern Florida who lost his primary race last year (to a Tea Party Republican). So Stearns is no longer in Congress.

I've heard that rumor.

and Congress rarely takes sides against the FDA and BP.
