I am using the multi functional trust fire charger. Thank you for your example. You see, I haven't seen many others complaining of this, you would think there would be more. How can I have THIS many bad batteries? I don't get it. Like I said, I have another brand new charger and will run them through that next. Oh and if I've been using them longer after the drop off and getting mad at them but suffering like I have been, it takes about 2 hours to charge them.

I bought 4 of the Trustfire blus 900mAh batteries from DX months ago to use with my nicksticks. One of the 4 came in DOA, the other 3 did perform as expected but have now lost most of their usefullness. They last sbout 45 minutes now and I have quit using them. I have about 10 of the Ultrafires and 2 of 8 were DOA. The others dropped off too fast to suit me.

The Ultrafires are slightly bigger in diameter and fit really snug on the Protege. The Trustfires are slightly smaller in diameter and just a tad longer than the Ultrafires. All of these batteries list a life span of only 300 cycles. But, they don't say they will last at original performance for 300 cycles. I'm using some of the new Trustfires from DX with the fancy wrapping. DOn't know if they will be any better. I'mm try the AW brand next they seem to hae a better reputation.

Truth is they are all produced by the same factory possibly.

Lucky ... I don't think its the charger, since the one I first started with showed 4.2V+ from the get go ... If you love protection, i suggest AW ... but then again ... AW may be just a myth for all i know, but the candlelight forum members live and die by their AW's ...

You want AW (Andrew Wan's) email address Lucky? He may offer you a deal or something. Probably quite a bit cheaper than trying to go through a website!

how big of a drop off are you talking? what should the performance of any of these batteries be like? they start around 4.2 (way above rated then drop off to 4 in an hour or two? any which way the battery is still above rated voltage... are the batteries supposed to stay at 4.2 for 8 hours then go lower? i have 2 ultrafires and the 2 original batteries ... they all seem to me about the same...

Monk ... The protected battery I got from Lucky, dropped from 4.2+v to roughly 3.6v within about 30-40 minutes ... I then used my own Tenergy Unprotected Battery (its roughly 3-4 weeks old) Started just a hair lower if my memory serves me correctly, and roughly 5 hours later was at about 3.5v ...

So, in essence ... Lucky's Battery drained the same amount as mine ... except hers did it in half an hour and mine did it in 5 hours ...

That's the reason I don't even use the protected Ultrafires I have ... they just have never performed well.

Also ... I checked her switch to see if perhaps voltage was leaking past the switch ... Turned my multimeter to a reading of 2v (so I could see even fractions like .001 or the like) but was getting .000 across the board. So voltage definitely wasn't leaking.

This is exactly true, so I am pulling out a brand new charger right now and trying the first 2 that bombed so fast on it and see what happens just to know I tried everything.

You know, guys, now that I think of it.....I had a small Cisco LP mod and was using the unprotected trust fire 10440's in them and I would get sooooooo mad at them too because they wouldn't last past 1/2 hour. So thinking about this, was using the SAME charger. Maybe it COULD be my charger, Steve. Thinking back now. hmmmmm

My problem with the li-ion batteries is that they do great when new but when they start having a short usable cycle they are worthless to me. I'm one that hates to throw away anything but I have some that are really at that point. I need to let go and give them a proper disposal and get on with the newer ones. They really are expendable just like the atomizers.

I wish I had a access to a real battery tester that would produce a performance chart. They have them available and the RC guys use them but they are expensive. It's not worth spending that much money to test cheap batteries.

My biggest dissappointment has been in the 18650's I bought 4 2600mAh 18650 Tenergy batteries. They will last almost 3 full days before reaching minimum voltage. Problem is that they drop below optimum vaping voltage in less than 24 hours. I can tolerate using them for another 24 hours but it really isn't the best performance.

My favority PV is the passthrough. You get consistant optimum vaping voltage all the time. It really doesn't get any better than that.

I wish I could use a PT, but I only pretty much use 510's now and they taste awful at 5V IMO. Every time I've tried it, didn't like it. When I use 901's on a 5 v PT it seems to kill them quickly or they get all hard draw and clogged. Dang I wish vaping was not so high maintenance. lol

I admit that the 5v experience is different. You usually have to taylor the juice to get the best taste. But once you get it, it's great! I only use the 510 and it may be a little better at 5v than the 901 but I can't say that because I've never tried one.

I also admit that the higher voltages will tend to kill a atty that is poor mechanically. But if it is a strong atty with good resistance it will actually last longer at 5v.

I am very happy with 510's at 3.7 volts if I could get at least some consistent peak performance that would give me several hours. That's the frustrating part.

Well, the 18650 may be the 3.7 for you. I think I would be satisfied using a 18650 for a day and just swap batteried when the voltage drop happens.

One hour + report and it won't be very helpful I am afraid. Still no noticeable drop off. It was a pretty heavy vaping hour too. I am using the Tenergy charger though. I have a Trustfire charger but I don't use it much. My protected batts are only about a week old. Are yours older or did you have this issue right from the start? BTW an hour and half seems really short to charge these guys. When I put the new 14500 in I put a 16340 (880mah Ultrafire) that was still going fine on the charger and it is still red and thats been about an hour and a half. Did you buy all of those batteries at the same time?
