Well it took half a year of practicing the art of coils, but I've finally figured out my threshold for vaping heaven. Which is as follows:

-single coil: 1Ω on the freaking dot, 10 wraps around a cute little screwdriver that came with tridone, which is a little smaller than a 1/16 drill bit. (micro-coil)
-volts: 5 (25 watts on the freaking dot)
-airflow: 1/8th" right in front of that puppy
-juice: VG all the way baby! (although I still like my mixes if I'm "pushing the limits", but "In Vino Veritas" by Virgin Vapors is the bees knees)
-wicking: thick'ol cotton slug though the coils and the tails tucked underneath in a big'ol cloud

On my brass monkee mod and RDA, I don't think I'll be able to go much more extreme as the title says, my flavors started to improve and improve, but now they are starting to taste like concentrate if you know what I mean.

-Tell me your flavor setups comrades! No matter what it may be, no judging in this thread. Just copy my stuff above and delete all my crap.

-I forgot how much nice it is to drink a little firewater and vape! Better than cigarettes that's for sure! Almost euphoric.

I am going to start building my own coils very soon, but will be on my regulated APV so it will be limited. I hope to really be able to pull the flavor out of my juices! What gauge wire are you wrapping with and what are you using for the wick?
Thanks
Brian
Welcome to the club! :p I'm wrapping with 28 gauge, which is what most people wrap with because it's a perfect medium (plus if you want a thicker gauge like 26 or 24, you can twist it with a power drill until it breaks and you have a thicker wire). My vamo is regulated too, it sounds like high watts because the ohms I use are kinda low, but you can use a measly 5 volts on a 1ohm coil (10 wraps around a 1/16th inch drill bit) and it equal 25 watts, its a pretty hell-atious vape!

-I have a mechanical mod too, but I think they are kind of overrated unless you really want to get into fancy dual coils and quad coils and stuff. But in my experience I've found one big coil the size of two smaller ones waaay outperforms. Also if your thinking about going into the 1 ohm sub-ohm area, which is pretty nice in my opinion, drill your airholes to 5/65th inch or 1/8th inch because it makes a WORLD of difference. I was literally stunned the first time I drilled out my cap, it was at least 2x more vapor I couldn't believe it. :vapor:

Oh yeah, my fingers have a feel for it now. Plus I'm kinda wierd, I build two or three coils at a time and check the ohms on the multimeter, and if they don't match what I want at the time I wrap one more/undo a wrap etc., and I've wrapped so many of these coils spaces are non-existant, I pretty much wrap it right the first time by muscle memory :p

-I think you'd have the same experience as I am if you were looking to replicate if thats what you mean :D, god knows that's how I found my sweet spot was by mimicking rip trippers and the veterans on ECF.

I'm new to rebuilding I used 30g wire, 9 wraps around a small screw driver ( sorry not sure what size ) it came out to 1.9 ohms wicked with Cotten. Oh it's on my Kay fun clone great flavor and nice clouds 50/50 MBV raspberry/sour yum.

Nice RBA's are much better with the higher ohms, the more surface area the better! If your looking for a more instant vape try around 1 ohm or so, about 6 wraps on your screwdriver should work. I hear they are a little harsher on the throat hit though (unless that's what you want), I'd give 28 gauge a shot it's pretty universal, or twist your 30 gauge and crank the voltage a little. Also I gotta show you this vid on how to wrap coils with a screwdriver, it saved my fingers and kanthal for sure:

Do you have links to the next video? Is it a series?
Thanks
Brian

Yeah no prob, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Here ya go:

Once you get everything you need and start fiddling you'll see how simple it is, I think the only thing that really confused me at first was how you setup your power on dual-coils, which after someone explained in lamens terms I got it, you build two coils the same size, and then half that size to get your ohms (2ohms together =equal 1ohm coil, my battery and brain almost exploded lol.

Do you think you will be able to repeat the experience with a new rebuild? On the dot consistency, that is.

Not to steal the OP's thunder, but yeah, I can turn out microcoils that are within .1ohm all day long now. It did take some practice to do, but it's not all that difficult.

Now onward. I began building PT2 heads with silica, then graduated to microcoils wicked with cotton. A huge difference from stock, and I was really pleased. Then I got a small dual coil RDA, and that really changed things. I tried the stock built coil in it (a Smok scar), and it was OK; good flavor, OK vapor. Hmmm. I built 2 microcoils, came out at 1ohm total wicked with cotton, and a little better, but still not quite. I rewicked and kept the coils, but I played with the height they were above the air holes in the deck, and wow! Very impressive for a $10 device. Awesome flavor and a good amount of vapor too. I am hooked.

I still love my PT2's and Iclears for going out and trouble free operation. Truth be told, the PT2's with home built microcoils are very close to the dripper taste wise, but still muted in comparison. A small price to pay IMHO for the convenience. I am not going to kick them to the curb any time soon.
