Something stuck in my mind yesterday after scanning the language of this proposed ordinance and got me to thinking about it again this morning. Here's the section:

[/B]

Now, we all know that in this country, anybody can sue anybody else over just about anything, but the fact that the authors of this proposed ordinance thought it necessary to include a whole section about it (I haven't quoted the whole section, which is quite specific about whom to report to and notify, and how monetary damages/fines may be assessed), and to legally define them as "Private Enforcers," is chilling, and scarily reminiscent of another time and place where private citizens were encouraged to report their neighbors to the authorities...

(Also, notice the insistence on the term smoking, thereby reinforcing the dogma that e-cigarettes equal smoking.)

I had to go back and find this for myself. I had not previously been able to read this far into the document without my blood pressure skyrocketing.

I am appalled at this clause. And the fact this was funded by tax dollars (more specifically the state of California) is nothing short of terrifying.

I think I'll show this to a local rabbi, maybe it will get passed up the chain and create some waves.

States shouldn't be relying on smokers for so much of their income if they truely want them to quit. How many have died from vaping - or even gotten sick? The list is full of questions that would be uncomfortable.

Pbusardo was throwing around numbers on his website. He mentioned per his calculations, New York City stands to lose $1,500 per year, for every pack a day smoker that quits. Sure they are not exact figures, but think about that! Anyone who still thinks vaping doesn't have an extremely rocky road ahead is seriously naive and mistaken!

Wow I was going to start a rant thread. But after reading tripe like this. Tell me they arent sparying chemicals into the air to
make us sick numb our minds. Tell me they arent deliberately dumbing down our schools.
Tell me they arent adding additives to our food to make us sick, and tell me the govt really cares. Its all a buuch of BS
since I have started vaping the blinders have come off even more. I do believe David Icke when he speaks of the reptillain agenda.
Yes I do believe those at the top want to keep the 99% enslaved whilst they they life like parasites off the sweat of our brows,
and the spilling of our blood.

Wow on the NY stats.
Feel for you. With States becoming more independent in their law making, your state will be the first to rip this away from its citizens. NY dictators like Cuomo, Schumer and the like live for punishing their peoples.

I don't know about where everyone else lives, but here in Chicago it's pushing an average of $12 a pack for analogs. If everyone suddenly switched to vaping, that's millions in tobacco taxes the city loses every year. Once state like Illinois begin to pass laws stating that ejuice is under tobacco substances, they'll tax it to hell like they do analogs. It scares the crap outta me. Time to learn to DIY eh?

Or find another source :) According to this article from last year about cigarette smuggling into Chicago, "In a recent study, University of Illinois at Chicago professor David Merriman found 75 percent of cigarettes in Chicago didn't have the proper tax stamps."

Cigarette smuggling on the rise as taxes skyrocket - Chicago News and Weather | FOX 32 News

If they lowered the taxes, they would probably bring in more revenue.

I don't know what city you are referring to, but if it's Chicago, don't you think they should already know this? And if they don't, I'm glad you pointed it out. Maybe in addition to cracking down on smuggling, they should also take this info to the city council to show them how much they are losing by raising taxes so high.

I live in the far suburbs of Chicago, so I never had to pay these ridiculous prices, but if I did, I wouldn't have bought from a smuggler, but I would have definitely traveled far enough out of the area to stock up for myself.

I would like to send this to them:

"I am a non-smoker and have been for 1.5.
A local government is wanting to force me out to inhale second hand smoke. Is there any way I can sue them for damages to my health because their law is forcing non-smokers to inhale smoke? If so could you provide me with something to help pursue this?"

I wonder if they'd be stupid enough to supply the ammo to take them down.
