I have everything I need to quite these cigs. The vaping was going good, but now because I "feel" like I shouldn't smoke, and move to only vaping it's like I want to smoke more! I keep making excuses like "well my higher nic juice will be here soon then I will start only vaping" The things is I really don't like the taste of smoking so I have to drink something or chew gum when I do it I don't like the way it makes me feel.

So goes the question "why am I an idiot!!

I know it's called addiction and I've smoked for 20 years blah blah blah but I thought this would be a piece of cake!

Stick with it Shan. I smoked 40 a day for 50 years and I swapped over with no real problem. That was over a year ago, just before Christmas 2008. My lungs were shot, but have improved a lot since I quit. Just use a good strong juice and you'll be getting more nicotine than you did with fags. I started on 18mg, rapidly increased it to 36 mg, and then went back on 18 about 9 months ago. No problem.

The wife and I feel the same as you do.. keep working with it, it will happen. pretty soon it will take - give it some time, cut back on the lit torch and sub your PV when you go outdoors. I am down from 1.5 packs a day to a pack in three days vaping in between.
your not an idiot - after all, you made a great choice to buy a PV and start heading in the right direction...;)

You're NOT an idiot!

For some the transition to vaping can be easy, for some a little challenging, for some very challenging and for others just not do-able. I think that the hardest part for everyone is that you've got to train your brain to accept PV's and vaping as the new way to smoke.

There are over 4,000 chemicals in regular cigs and nicotine is not the only one that is addictive. Over the years the tobacco industry has put additional chemicals in cigs to keep people hooked and addicted besides just the nicotine. You've got to convince yourself (your brain) that even though you may be missing a few other chemicals that were addictive in cigs (the reason you still feel addicted to them) that you are getting the most addictive of all - nicotine - and you will do better.

Just tell yourself that you are no longer going to be controlled by big tobacco, high prices, smoke, nasty taste, smelly clothes, furniture, skin, hair, vehicles,. No more flames, no more butts, no more ashes and ashtrays, no more smokers cough, difficulty breathing and getting out of breath just getting dressed or taking a shower (how incredible is that!). You control you and nobody else can. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Hmmm... How did I do???

Hope this helps!

Just leave your smokes at home when you go out and in the car when you are at home. this has helped me a lot. Every time you want a smoke, just get out your PV and puff puff puff away. Spend time getting more carts ready when you aren't puffing on your PV. Try anything to stop yourself from wanting to hit that analog. It's all about self control.
It's kinda like why 2 people stay together when they don't care about each other anymore. They just want to stay together because they don't want to never see that person again. Same with smoking, you don't want to be without it since it's been so close to you for so long...even if you don't like it.

You can do it!

The best advice I can give is to not worry about quitting tobacco. For many of us, the stress and panic associated with the thought of giving them up totally can set us up for failure. Rather, tell yourself that if you REALLY want a cigarette, you'll have one. But instead of immediately reaching for the cigarette, you'll first try to vape through the craving.

I held back some much higher nicotine liquids for just those occasions. When I felt the need for a cigarette, I'd spike my cartridge with a few drops of the super high stuff, and it really seemed to help.

But whatever you do, don't beat yourself up. For some, the transition seems to occur almost magically. For others, the road may be a little bit longer and might have a few more bumps along the way. Please don't forget to celebrate the fact that you've managed to significantly decrease your tobacco intake. That's no small accomplishment.

Yeah, just keep at it. It took me eight month or so to convince myself an e-cig was enough to leave the analogs behind. I went down to five a day for quite a while then to one and finally none. Even then I'd go for a week no problem and want a smoke so had one, always regretted it though so in the end didn't bother any more. It's a great replacement, just takes longer for some of us that's all.

Instead of focusing on quitting smoking, put your focus on using your PV.

Pay attention to all the variables in place when the PV is really working well. Type of liquid used, length of draw, battery charge etc.

Put your focus on finding how to get your PV to peak performance all the time.

If you feel the need for a smoke, go ahead. Just don't beat yourself up if you do!! Always be kind to you.

Common result with this type of approach is to have the number of times you light up simply reduce to nothing at all on its own............

In my experience, non-nicotine withdraw usually peaks at around 2 weeks. If you quit cold turkey with the PV, the urge to smoke can persist.

5 hours cold turkey and I was running for a pack of cigs.
2 weeks on nic gum (cold turkey on tobacco) and I was running for a pack of cigs.

But when I slowly lowered my tobacco consumption to nothing, using the e-cig to keep nicotine levels steady, I've experienced no withdraw and desire to smoke is very low.

Also, I wasn't able to do this until I started vaping 36mg juice... actually used 48 for 3 weeks, but that wasn't pleasurable. So I settled with 36mg and didn't start lowering the nicotine content until after I quit analogs entirely. I'm currently using 22mg (which seems plenty strong now) and will be lowering to 18, next bottle.

All have given you really sound advice. Make it easier on yourself. Take on the attitude you are not quiting smoking, you are switching brands... Instead of malboro to winston, you are switching cigs to vap'n.

Focus on what is working for you.

For me, the amount of nic made no difference at all. NONE! It was the vapor production. I went through the SE stuff, to a e-pipe, to a e-cigar, to 901, to a pen style 801. Finally went to a mod. Ended up with the Silver Bullet and Prodigy. Both give max amounts of vapor. Now I like the 510 with either SB or Prodigy V2. I also still use the 801 on both and getting nice fluffy plums of vapor. That is what did it for me and it seems effortless in hindsight. But in reality at the time I was frustrated until I hit on what satisfied me. Who knew it would be vapor production.

I never thought I would be able to give up cigarettes. They were my closest friends. The only ones that never betrayed me, never left me, never judged me, always relieable. But, they were truely nasty and I am so glad I vap now.

Again, take this easy and focus on what you want, divert you attention away from what you do not want. And above all have fun with it.

Well said, I couldn't agree with you more. I never thought about the "switching brands" state of mind. That will probably help a whole lot.

Most of my friends have all had to gradually go from one to the other, and some have actually given up. I myself have gone 4 months without a "real cig". My wife insists on calling tobacco cigs a "real cig" implying that her e cig is less real, and I remind her it's not less real just more like a different brand. That is what helped me get passed the difference, I was a Newport smoker and I use mostly dk tab, and Ry flavors, not even close to a Newport. I think for me it was the difference in flavor that helped me not think of it as less than a tobacco cig just a different flavor.

Not sure If I helped at all but I thought I'd share.

Best of luck and don't give up.

Think of the person who has heard about the ecig and hasn't even considered checking it out---an idiot.

Or the person that has tried it and said, "With this, I could actually quit," and then doesn't go any farther---an idiot.

Then there is you, who is putting forth the effort---a very smart person.

So it's going to take a little time, and so you have an analog now and then along the way.

Just keep trying, and eventually you will be smoke free.
