You'll have a vastly different experience with a better topper, imo. I love IB Tanked cartotanks on my Provari :)

Seconded! I've found that my Protanks and ProVari just don't play well together. They do a little better on my Zmax but I vastly prefer cartotanks on both (not that the Zmax gets much use, anymore.)

Make sure you haven't tightened the tank too much. I know I screwed my iClear 30S on really tight the first time I used it and got very little vapor. I knew something was wrong because it had been fine before using it with the 30S and just did some reading around the forum and figured it out. I love my Provari mini--with the 30s clearos it is just terrific all the way round. I vape around 4.3 v with it.

thats low for a protank. my protanks with a 2.5ohm head need to be above 4.5v to shine and normally i keep them at 5v.

Whereas I am vaping a Protank on a ProVari right now: 2.8Ω @ 4.5v. Works for me. :)

ETA: I'm getting nice fluffy clouds, but I'm also vaping about 50pg/50vg (I'm not sure, since I mixed some 100% vg into my regular juice).

Oh sure now I read this after a bit the bullet last night and purchased a mini myself . I hope it is just to do with your topper .

You can search around. By comparison, it has the fewest complaints.......I checked........a lot. I wouldn't sweat it.

and, if the PTII is muted, I cannot wait to build my coil on my Kayfun this weekend. I don't think I will be able to handle it.

Hi Ocelot
Only had the provari 10 days and just got some more batteries, I have tried to control my spending lol.
I don't like direct dripping as I'd rather fill her up and vape whilst at work for a few hours, dripping seems a bit time consuming for me.
I will invest in a good atty, like a kayfun clone.
But I'm greatful for everyone's input, keep them coming.

You have nothing to worry about.

In almost 5 years of posting here and being a member of this community this is one of a bare handful of complaints Ive seen about a Provari much less a Provari versus a Vamo.

Im guessing its either the topper, Do we even know if its a genuine Protank? Those heads shouldnt be tasting burnt at 4 volts.

User error

Someone just wants to argue

Or bad taste...it does happen. Some people prefer cheap over quality.....You should see my friends house, tacky doesnt even begin to describe it.

Sorry zapped, defo not here to argue.
In fact it was this forum that actually made me decide to get the provari, I heard such good things about it.
The protank is genuine with the stamp on the metal ring and I'm using genuine coils that come with the atty.
Let me just clarify about the slight burnt taste.
It isn't quite a burnt taste but seems to be on the borderline, as if it will start to burn if I crank up the volts anymore, hence the reason why I back down the few .2/3 volts.
But I agree with other posters on this thread, the protank mini defo has muted flavour on the provari.
Perhaps it is just not suited together. But my main concern was the fact it's great on one battery (vamo) and not good on another. I always assumed it would be great on the provari.

These might help you in your search to try new things:

The first page of this thread has discount codes that are supposed to be permanent, but who knows? It hasn't been updated in awhile; however, on the last page there is a post from February 2014 that links to the second site.

ETA: This may have been asked and answered, but I didn't see it. When was the last time you changed the head on the Protank? And what ratio of pg/vg are you using?

Sorry forgot to mention that I use the vamo at 5watts but only 3.5-3.7 on the provari.
Would this explain the difference in vape.
I haven't tried the vamo in volt mode yet.

Hmm, you are comparing apples to oranges here. The Provari does not do watts, only voltage. The Vamo can be used in either watts or voltage mode.

I may certainly be wrong here, and apologize if so, but if you are vaping in voltage mode on the Vamo, of course 5 volts will blow the hell out of 3.5 to 3.7 volts on the Provari.

I recommend checking your settings on the Vamo to see if you are in the volts or watts mode.

What you should be doing is using the volts setting on the Vamo, and match it to the volts setting on the Provari and see what the results are.

Just to clarify I was using my protank mini at 5watts on the vamo and 3.5-3.7volts on the provari.
I haven't tried using volts on the vamo to compare since my provari arrived, but will give it a try.

Ocelot.
I'm using a uk vendors liquid which is 1.8% nicotine and is 70%pg and 30%vg.
My heads are a few weeks old but I regularly rinse and dry burn them, probably after every 3 tanks on the protank mini.
I actually cleaned my atty today at work, filled up with juice and used it on both devices. I had much more flavour and thicker smoke on the vamo. This prompted my thread on her this evening.
P.s thanks for the link

I think a couple of others have already mentioned it but I would seriously consider the IBTanked tanks.

They are my absolute favorite topper for my ProVari. I do have several ProTanks also but I don't like the way they vape on my ProVari in comparison to the IBTanked tanks.

You can pick one up for about $26 plus the cost of a cartomizer (which is only $1.50 if you buy them from IBTanked). I have had wonderful results with them and I spend a lot less because the cartomizers last so much longer than the head coils on the ProTank for me.

The flavor I get on the carto tanks just blows my ProTanks out of the water!! I LOVE them!!

I really hope that you find something that works for you. I just love my ProVari and I hope you get the same satisfaction from yours!!

Good Luck and Welcome to ECF!!!

Not my intention to argue either, just giving possible reasons for your difficulties.

I use a carto tank on my Provari and couldnt be happier with it.

I use a Protank to try new flavors out because its so much easier to clean the heads but they severely mute the flavors (not always a bad thing with new juices) when compared to my go-to setup. Its even more noticeable with high VG juices.

With a 2ohm head at 3.5 to 3.7 volts youre running 7 watts or so on the Provari versus 5 on the Vamo?

Something is definitely wrong.

Try swapping the heads

Thanks for the comment.
Do you know what size fits nicely with the provari, not overhanging, and what ohm cart would you recommend. Sorry totally new to this and haven't quite under stood this ohm thing yet.

That is exactly what I do too. I use the ProTanks just to try out something new. I don't want to prime a new carto if I don't know if I will like the juice. If it tastes decent in a ProTank then I know that it will be outstanding in the carto-tank.
That is one situation where I prefer a ProTank over my carto-tanks.
But for every day use it is carto-tanks all the way!!

It's interesting the IBTanked devices are so popular in this thread for the Provari. My goal is to own one of each type of vaping device, mod and atty, and I had not tried tanked cartomizers so the IBTanked device was what I ordered in tandem with my Provari. It's a great vape. I got the 3.0ohm cartos and at 5.5 volts the vape and flavor is outstanding. I love the crackle of using a tanked carto!
