Why ArcticFox (custom FW for Joyetech) - garbage, although the quality

ArcticFox is, in some way, the best FW. It is based on MyEvic and the first version of Arctic fox was called MyEvic NFE Edition , but it always was closed-source project.

It has a configurator with a PC and even for android, a lot of opportunities for an ordinary user ... And what if the user is not an ordinary user?
Discussing something on the fox forum is almost pointless about adding features.

Firstly, it happens because the arctic foxes consider themselves are smartest guys in the workd, and their users are stupid. Therefore, even if some option they enter, then a month or two will argue that this is not necessary.
Secondly, because 1-2 people are working on the development, the work is slow .
Third, developers can lie or, say, not talk everything. For example, now the firmware is supposedly not available, but there is nothing technically very complicated to break into 3 screens (medium, small, large). If the code was open, you could easily add the things you need to behave.

Develops consider it normal to ban dissenters in their topics or, at best, just ignore them.

Fourth, the Arctic Foxes have their own ideas about ergonomics. They are afraid to make the interface unconventional or too geeky. For example, even in the smallest devices, you can almost double the number of displayed information using different hacks

For example, comparing the current main interface and the prototype for small screens

As a result: AF dig a hole to themselves and other users: to themselves - because their development speed is slower than with the participation of the community. Users - because they need to wait a longer release, and some features will never be introduced.

Perhaps this is a question of donations, but again, they usually pay (if the product is ready) not for the finished free product, but for its development . Perhaps, if development is understated by such artificial methods, then there will be more donations, but ... Honestly, I think that in some parts it would be happy to pay someone or receive income from donations rather than dig yourself.

PS: I somehow custom saw, on MyEvic too based. Although I'm not a programmer, I managed to bring to the usability and geek state. True, this required more time and effort for KUDA than if Af had been opened.
Roughly mud - that MyEvic, that SurMyEvic - are usable only somewhere for 3% of the vapers, and not even geeks.

If you want to help with the development of the firmware, you can join the about on Telegram: chat ..../betterjoy

PS: I working on BetterJoy. If you want to make it too, you can join the project or even make your own with your commints.

I know you're working on your own firmware, which is great, but not everyone here uses third party firmware and dissing another developer here instead of their dedicated forum isn't all that cool.

There is an area here for negative reviews of vendors, but I'm not sure even this would be a good fit there as artic fox isn't even sold but a freebie made by a person /group of developers doing it because they want to, not sitting around making apps for phones looking to make a living from it.

Good luck on your project.

Yep, it is extremely low to pimp a product by bashing another one.
The bolding of the words "ordinary", "slow", "lie", " are afraid " & " development "
show a lack of integrity & maturity on your part.

Both are conglomerated messes that I have no use for, the one on the left (marked Geeky) is outstandingly horrid.

If you don't like Arctic Fox and think you have a better idea, put it out there and let the users decide.

I think geeky sucks. I don't speak geek. I'm too old to learn geek. I want a simple, third party application that lets me customize my mod with an intuitive interface and keeps it simple.

If I go to McDonalds, I don't want a pimply-faced kid trying to explain how to make a Big Mac and ranting about why the Whopper sucks.

Go make a better burger, kid.

It's not absolutely true. I like AF, but as developer or 'child developer', for me it just art.

Imagine bad constructor and good LEGO and posibilily to make copy.

Bad constructor was imrpoved and closed this source. So, if you wanna play, you could use only bad constructor or see ready model from better. It's not art, actually.

I will add that I use Arctic Fox and find the criticism misplaced. It works better than the joyetech stock firmware. It isn't quite escribe but does come close to giving that level of control.

If you have something you feel is better, tell us why it is better. But don't bash a decent project

None of it matters to me....yours might be a million times better. If I'm using a regulated mod, I set wattage and go. I'm not a temp control guy.
But your approach to introducing your product needs some work. There are reviewers that feel the need to bash other reviewers to establish their credibility. We have one or two of those right here on ecf. Nothing turns me off to whatever someone is selling like bashing other products to sell it. It's a weak position right out of the gate.

If you are the maker of BetterJoy, but you say you are not a programmer...WHAT then actually did you change?
Just the interface/graphics? Don't get me wrong....I consider the firmware of my vape critical and rely on it that it's safe to use...that those who modded/wrote it know what it does. When someone says he is not even a programmer (means: You don't even know what the firmware does in code)...this doesn't exactly create confidence.... Just my $0.02
