Why are people still dripping?

Despite all the improvements made with cartomizers, tanks, ce2s, and so on, I still see a ridiculous amount of people who drip. My question is this, don't you find this completely tedious? If I had to drip some liquid after every 5-6 puffs, I'd have quit vaping a long time ago.

I know some of you are going to say the taste is what it is all about. I've done some dripping and I find no real difference between dripping and say using a ce2 clearo. And I mean, the atomizer itself is always going to sort of vary as it ages. Am I completely missing something?

Once in a while we get out the big tin of flavors and start sampling juices, dripping flavors from from blackberry to biscotti and a few dozen others. Quick flavor changes will always be something only an atty brings. I have a lot of flavors I enjoy once in a while but don't want a carto or tank full. If you only have a couple flavors you use then that flexibility isn't necessary. An atty remains a simple easy maintenance part of the vaping world, just more for hobbyists as cheap kits should evolve to simple carto setups. I use cartos and carto tanks most of the time, but for me some juices just taste best dripped on an atty.

Attys can also be expanded to hold .5ml or so, making them give much more time between dripping. The Bonut had worked for me and has given me extended vaping on an atty when I wanted it. An ECF member created it - if you search on the name "Bonut" it'll show up.

mabe. it is kind of nasty looking, i don't do it in public. I've been trying different atomizers and some just don't work well for dripping. also some flood easy and take forever to break in. I drip at home or at work and if I chain vape, I'll rotate 2 or 3 devices. it's heaven. I understand the whole thing where people like the plastic tanks, so far i've not had one equal the vape of a brand new poly fill cartomizer. the dct is alright for me if i punch the hole bigger. i like the draw to be on the airy side.

there is something indescribable about getting a perfect plume from dripping. for me it equals the pleasure of 3 good draws on a carto.

i saw someone describe dripping as 3 flooded hits, 3 perfect hits, and then 3 burnt hits, repeat. it does have a learning curve to it.

NO CARTO has the taste of a regular atty IMO. They either SUCK or taste like FILLER. No thanks.
Why drip? Because I like to change flavors. Because YOU GET THE BEST FLAVOR THAT WAY. I don't flood my atty either.
I think its preference but there's no RIGHT WAY TO VAPE.
However in my opinion, Cartos have a weird taste to them and I change flavors too much to use one of those big and silly looking tanks. Using a mod is enough, I don't need to look like I'm sipping on a microphone everytime I want some nic....

I am not a chain vaper, so it doesn't bother me at all! As a matter of fact, I went from cartos, tanks, to clearomizers, to now vaping attys! It is more of a zen practice, the way it feels to me. I don't think topping off a carto or squonking is tremendously easier or necessarily more convenient. Plus, I can change flavors at will! Is changing a bottle in a bottom feeder or changing a carto somehow easier than dripping 3 drops in a drip tip? I don't think so!

I like to view dripping as using a manual transmission...sure, using an automatic is more "user friendly", but I am looking for the most authentic vape as possible. What I get from dripping is what I deem to be authentic.

To each, his/her own!

p.s. Just like a manual transmission saves gas, so does dripping save juice!

I saw that bonut guy when he first thought of it though I've never personally tried it. As for you bassthumper what about ce2s? No filler.

As for sampling juices on an atty, dont you find the flavors get mixed that way? i.e., you have to ...in addition to dripping..clean the atomizer between each juice. Even more tedious?

A Ce2 tastes nothing like juice dripped on a good atty. In fact, there are huge differences in flavor when comparing attys as well.

And, there is a difference between the flavor bottom feeding vs top feeding too. I don't know why, and I've never read an explanation I believed. But here I am right now with a VVPV with a 2.0 ohm hh.357 and a VV REO Woodville with a 2.0 ohm hh.357 in front of me - both with juice from the same bottle and both set at 4.3v - and they taste different from one another. I like them both, but there is a difference in flavor. And, that's just fine with me, btw. The VV REO will be getting an i06 permanently by the end of the week when I expect my i06 sleeve to arrive. The VVPV will never have anything on it but an hh.357.

If I'm not using a feeder, I'm either using a carto on a tube mod or I'm dripping (depends on what my hands need to be doing other than vaping). I still occasionally use my MAP tanks as well, so I'm very familiar with CE2s having been using them for over a year. I like them, but they sure don't taste the same as a high quality atty.

One of the reasons I drip is because I like a lot of different juices. I have more flavors than baskin robbins. Dripping affords me the ability to enjoy as many different juices as I want to on fewer devices just by segregating my active attys by what flavors I've been using lately. When I start getting tired of a few of my flavors, I clean a few attys and start out fresh with a few different flavors.

I tend to not get any flavor mixing if the atty is handled properly. I am at work right now and I have my k-go and a carto :( I got probably 6-8 good drags off of this thing before I noticed a flavor drop, now it is basically just the essence of flavor. If I had my juice now I could top off the carto, but that would be just like dripping. I sure wish I brought my real set-up with me today.

Some people are masochistic, you know. I wouldn't drip all of the time. I do drip an atomizer when I try new juice out just to see if it is worth putting into a tank or a cartomizer but I've been using my stainless Bogies for about two years now and even more recently my Boge 801 fusions and I'll never go back, especially since I got my Phiniac tank. It's just too easy and so consistent.

If I had to have a tank, clearomizer, a carto for all my juices, I would go crazy trying to keep up with all the paraphernalia or just the cost alone. I have a ProVari with maybe 5 attys right now with 20+ juices. If you want 20+ tanks or even 20+ cartos then go right ahead, I don't think it is very economical or efficient. I am, however, looking into getting a repairable atty for my one beloved juice though.

Oh, and I only leave the house generally with 3 small bottles, one atty on my pv, and my pv....and a back-up batt! All kept in a discrete case!

I guess if you are switching that often then attys make sense but you've still got to clean them dont you? I've got about 10 juices. I can clean and refill a ce2 if i want to swtich juices. Get 1.5 ml in there and it last a good 4 hours or so. Course i'm not high voltage vaping, at least not yet.

I don't "clean" attys, per se. I blow them out if need be and dry burn. It takes all of 15 seconds and I don't do it often. Dealing with tanks and punching cartomizers, or leaking, or slide-y-ness, or cinnamon issues is just not worth it anymore to me. There is also a "new" juice delivery system coming out everyday that promises the world and delivers no real difference. I think sometimes the simplest method gives the most bang for its buck!

I love this thread by the way! Thanks op for asking a legitimate question, while leaving the thread open enough for opinions without all the bashing.

Good Job, op!!!!

I think the manual transmission comparison is spot-on! (Mr. Mann, that might have been a good point for your recent analogy thread!).

Advantages of dripping vs cartos for me:

- no concerns about leaking
- flavor and vapor production always stellar
- no concerns about juice consistency and wicking, etc...VG juices are no issue here
- easily switch flavors, can go back and forth between vanilla and tobacco in the same atty every other vape
- easy to try a new flavor without committing a carto to it

Never dripped myself, as I am currently highly satisified with using my clearos for now. The flavor to me is very good and, now that I have settled on 2-3 flavors of juice, It's very convenient to keep my clearos with me. 3 clearos with 3 flavors works great. I am, however, eyeing a bottom feeder (most likely the VMOD XL) and at that point I will definitely get some attys.

I was also introduced to an atty tank today, looks like a fun little project. I think we can all agree (us that are here on the forum constantly at least) that vaping is our hobby and we take joy in trying different things. Hence my order today for some CE3 XLs:2cool:
