Please explain exactly what this petition will accomplish.

btw...I have signed it, I often commit futile and meaningless gestures.

Honestly, I am not sure what it will do to help other than let them know there are thousands of us out here that don't agree with what the FDA is doing about e-cigs. If we don't voice what we want, one day we might not be able to voice anything. Americans sit back and stay quiet and don't speak up enough. The right to be able to buy larger amounts of soda was banned in New York. Also, trying to regulate the fast food chains. How ridiculous! Many states are banning smoking anywhere at all in public, even on the sidewalk or in your car, or even on your front porch. Some have even made it illegal to smoke in your apartment if it is adjoining another apartment. Can't Americans see that if we continue to let the government slowly take away our rights, that it will just snowball. That's how they do it, slowly and gradually while no one is looking, and hoping no one will notice and just get used to the idea of all these darn rules and regulations and bans! Right now in the State of Florida it is illegal to smoke anywhere on any of the college campuses, including even in your car out in the parking lot. Now that's just wrong!

What is it the FDA is "doing about e-cigs"?

I'm not trying to be contentious, but there is a lot of hype floating around here. We don't know what they're going to do, or even what they will be allowed to do yet. I see people posting who seem to genuinely believe based on what they read here that e-cigs have already been banned and we're just waiting on D Day.

Right now they're working on their proposal. I don't think anyone here knows exactly what that proposal will be.

I agree with all that but what good will this petition do? I think the FDA already knows there are 100,000s of vapers here in the US, a petition isn't going to change that knowledge one bit.

Now if all the people who signed the petition took the time to write a letter explaining why they vape, how it has helped them, why it is better than cigarettes, and included copies of some of the studies done, then mailed a copy to each of their elected officials that would make an actual difference in what is going to happen to us in the future.

Petitions at anything more than a city government level are pretty much worthless. A million Vaper march on DC would be much more effective.

Yes, & you can be sure there were petitions against everyone of these laws. Repeating the same thing over & over, expecting different results is the definition of in....ty(not accusing anyone). Besides, a freeman demands/exercises their rights, while a 'subject' petitions. If one has to get 'permission', it is no longer a right. Back when I erroneously believed that it mattered, I signed more petitions then I care to remember. But when the fda does what it has already decided, those that didn't sign will shoulder the blame for being silent.

We are exercising our First Amendment right to petition our government. By meeting the 25,000 signature requirement, the White House staff will review it, ensure it’s sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.

This is the way to let the Executive branch know what we want.

You are 100% right, we dont know what the FDA is going to do. But look at the FDA's history with e-cigs. The e-cig is not a popular device with our FDA. If one hasn't done their research on this subject, I urge them to for the sake of our industry.

I agree and in theory it sounds like a good idea. The problem is alot of our elected officials get their campaign dollars from people who want to see our e-cigs go away. Many of our reps are watching out for themselves. I dont mean to sound so pessimistic. We should write letters, though I wouldnt bank on them changing many elected officials opinions. I am not just getting my info from this forum. There is a wealth of information out there to be read.
