You mean you dare to challenge your peoples addictions to cigs with an alternative that is actually working well for you and thousands of others? What were you thinking...lol.

I acknowledge you for vaping with your friends and for getting off the "stinkies" in the first place.

Way to go!!!!

Me, I took over a year after signing up for this site before I finally pulled the trigger. In my area smokes are $5 a pack; and a lot of people stuff their own, making it even cheaper. Price is not going to sell them. They have to want to quit. Add to that the constant bashing of ecigs in the media (calling them far worse than analogs on the radio today!), and you've got an uphill battle. I would suggest letting folks know what you're doing, that you're quite happy with it, and say no more unless they ask.

I have concluded that actively trying to convert a smoker is liken to converting an overweight person
to lose weight, making an alcoholic stop drinking, making your kids .....
It won't happen until they decide to just do it.

You can still passively try to influence them, draw things to light for them, sometimes.
Pressing the matter only builds the wall a little thicker.

One of the most effective things that I have found when explaining to people about the benefits of vaping is talking money. That, for some reason, is what people will really listen to.

I usually give them a very brief explanation of "It's an e-cigarette. It works by vaporizing liquid that has nicotine in it, which you inhale. The initial kit/set-up that I got was about $60.00. The real cost savings is that you can spend only $30.00 a month on the e-liquid, compared to say $180.00 for a pack-a-day habit of traditional cigarettes. That combined with all the other bonuses like I'm not out of breath, not having the tobacco "scent" on me all the time, and being able to quit traditional cigarettes made it a great choice for me. IF you are interested, I can give you a card with some information, and my email address if you like. I'm always happy to help others quit smoking traditional cigarettes and save money."

I've only converted family members and close friends, but I'm always willing to talk with folks about them, but I try not to press. I have handed out the cards I made, but have never had anyone email me. I can only hope that they make their way to ECF and become analog free.

My mom was interested immediately when she saw my ecig. I bought her a riva kit and it is still in the box.

My brother thought they were a joke for months, but approached me last week and said he finally wanted to try it out. I have him all my ego supplies and he has been cigarette free since Monday.

Just goes to show that they may not be interested today, but I'm sure they are thinking about it.

People don't like being preached to.

This is a very important factor. I switched to vaping and quit smoking because I wanted to and I was ready. Nobody preached or pushed me one way or another which probably would have got my back up to some degree.

I vape my eGo at work and just go about my business saying nothing to anyone about it. I wait until someone asks me about e-cigs, then I will tell them my story and let them make of it what they will. So far there are a few who are quite interested and in time may just take the vaping route for themselves. If and when they do, it will be their own free will decision which allows them to far more easily justify the choice of dumping tobacco for the healthier alternative. I have a brother I'd like to convert but since he is a hardcore smoker like I was, I have to let him observe and come around to it on his own. I know that if I push him he will dig his heels in. Each in their own time.

You got a number of good responses. You appear to be young (20's) which means you are much smarter than your friends. I believe the average age of vapers on ECF from several polls is around 45 - 50. Most younger smokers have not started to feel the affects of smoking and thus do not want to be bothered with the effort it takes to switch. Even though vaping is an easier method to quit tobacco than NRT products, you still have to WANT to quit, IMO for it to work.

Just keep vaping and some of your friends may eventually realize that you are much smarter than they are.

wait really 45 50 thats weird im only 23 lol thought that was about the average age

I made the full switch a bit over a month ago, and just recently bought an IGO to replace my KR8, and after listening to my mother say she wanted to try it the entire time, then after about a week of trying to shove the KR8 gear down my mom's throat, I finally came to a realization, people will, given the opportunity, try it on their own.

This weekend I filled carto's with 6 different flavors, charged both batteries, and left it all in a nice carrying case....I haven't seen the case in about 4 days now, so I think she's finally giving it a shot...but it took me just shutting up and going on about it in order to make it happen.
