I'll leave that to the mods to answer... and THEY do not even show up as one of the "There are currently X users browsing this thread. (X members and 0 guests)"... so I have noted.

I can Understand a Mod wanting to be Invisible.

What I can't figure out as to why a Member would want to go "Stealth"?

Why do you "understand" about mods wanting to be invisible?

Because sometimes people get Mad during a Heated Thread and post something they maybe they will Regret Later.

If a person looks down and see that there is No Mod watching the Thread, they may be inclined to Blast Off a Reply that they wouldn’t if a Mod was present.

By not Knowing if a Mod is Currently watching the Thread you are on, it may make Some People pause and consider their reply more closely when in Blue Thunder Mode.

Of course, this is just my Opinion.

I would think that a mod's mere presence would induce a more-civil discourse. Keep us all in line by "the look" lest the Hammer of Ban come down upon our noggins.

I think it does.

But the Mods can be Everywhere All the time. Like I said, that's just my Perspective on why a Mod might want to be Invisible.

Why do you think a Member might want to be Casper the Ghost?

I stay invisible for I mostly hang in chat threads, so if they "see me" and I am not posting it brings attention when I may want to just hang in the shadows and read without posting.

I could see that.

Or maybe I should say, I won't see it, that is, if your Invisible. You know what I mean.

I have the same reason as Starry, some times I am lurking from work and I can't post all the time , if people see me they star addressing posts to me and I am forced to respond and some times I can post but I am not in the mood to post, I rather go on lurking :D

Gotcha...

It is starting to make sense.

Being Invisible is A bit like The Lounge then, it only appears once you've logged on?
I had no idea this Forum even existed.

Don't feel bad.

I've been around for over 2 Years and Never Noticed an Asterisk next to a Members Staus untill a few days ago.

there are 2 asterisk, the one you see on your own name when you are going invisible and the one next to an user name on the avatar, the last one has an unknown meaning to me
