Why can't I ever taste my vapor?

This is my first post on this forum and it has to do with a problem I've had since I started vaping a year ago.

I've never smoked a cigarette in my life. I think they're disgusting in more ways than one. I picked up vaping because it seemed like a fun hobby and I enjoy it... when it works, which is rare.

My problem is that I have problems being able to taste my e-cig liquid. No matter what device I use, what juice I vape, or what my power settings are, unless I'm using a mech mod, I virtually never get any kind of taste out of my e-cigarette. On the rare occasion that I do, I love it, but 90% of the time I just get thick, dense, completely tasteless clouds from my e-cig.

Right now I'm vaping what would be a very delicious lemonade flavor from my roommate's spare iClear 30 / MVP 2.0 (I lost my Nautilus BVC / Sigelei Legend V2), but every time I hit it, I taste absolutely nothing.

What could cause this to happen to me? I am extremely frustrated and every time I try to research this on Google, I get nothing but information about vape burnout or vape tongue. It seems like I am the only person who has ever had this problem.

Could you possibly have vapor tongue? I went through a period where I couldn't taste my juice either. It eventually came back and never happened again.you can do things to help. I did a trick chocolate tasters do to help taste again. It's spelling freshly ground coffee several times a day and it is supposed to reset your taste. It worked for me, but not for my husband, he had to just _wait it out. But it's worth a try. I also started making my own juice, I can make it to my exact taste . Just something to consider. Meanwhile, try the fresh coffee grounds and see if they help. Good luck.. hang in their.it does not last forever.

Sounds like you have my problem. I have always had trouble with sweeter vapes 90% of the time it's almost like a perma vapers Tounge and for about a week out of the month I can taste everything so well.... my suggestion to you is to try backwoods brew casablanca and halo Tribeca these really shine for me even when I have max vapers Tounge they are strong Tobaccoish flavors with some mild sweetness

btw if you get casablanca it needs to steep for at least 2 weeks.

This is how I get rid of it and I can breathe a lot better during allergy season/winter. I was skeptical at first but I am on board for sure now, I use it probably twice a week.

I can agree with the the above post. I have nasal problems and can change liquids, but it doesn't taste any different. You can try the nasal cleanse, and it might help. When I cook, the tastes are there, but I am told I use too many spices and herbs. So, either go stronger, or try the cleanse. Or maybe try a decongestant. Good luck!

I have to say, I've never tasted any juice very strongly in my mouth, as I'm inhaling. I taste it more on the exhale, as a scent, rather than as a taste, and if it's a sweet ejuice, I can taste the residue on my lips. But vapor doesn't seem to create a strong impression on the tastebuds the way that food and drink do.

Maybe I've had vaper's tongue ever since I started in January and never realized it. I can tell the difference in my virginia and my blueberry muffin, but more as scent than taste.

When I first started vaping I got tons of flavor on both inhale and exhale but as I got closer to 6 months of vaping I get only exhale now.... kinda sucks I don't know what happens but I basically became immune to tasting as much as I used to vaping.... it's a perma vapers Tounge for me if I stopped vaping for a few months maybe it would go back to the good ol days

EDIT: actually with strong tobacco or cinnamon vapes I still get a taste on inhale but with sweets it's strictly on the exhale only now... very weird

That really is odd... the only thing that's really made a difference for me, in being able to taste it in my mouth, is adding sweetener -- I still don't really taste the actual flavor of the juice on inhale, but I get the sense of "sweet" -- I get the blueberry muffin flavor when I exhale, and then the residue of it on my lips.

One thing that's really good about vaping, I'm finding out just this morning. I seem to have a cold -- and it was really kinda hard to tell I was getting one, though I thought my throat felt a little scratchy last evening. But vaping with a cold is so much better than SMOKING with a cold -- if I smoked when I had a cold, it seemed like it set my throat on fire, and then would bring on a solid 5 minutes of coughing. Vaping with a cold doesn't seem bad at all; no throat-burn, beyond what I normally get as TH, and it doesn't bring on the lengthy bout of coughing either. Maybe just because my lungs are pretty much cleared by now. I do seem to have an abnormal amount of sinus trouble, the usual mucus of a cold, but it's not nearly as much as I always got with a cold. And I don't seem to have that awful smell in my sinuses as I always used to, as a smoker with a cold.

So, muffled taste or no, I definitely prefer a vaper's cold to a smoker's cold. :)

A couple of things I found to help.

Drink water, lots of it.

Brush your tongue and the roof of your mouth. Or get a tongue scrapper. Get as far back as you can without choking to get as much mucus coating off as you can. (This also helps with general halitosis issues btw).

Eat an apple. For some reason after I eat an apple (Granny Smith is my favorite) all my flavors pop. I do wait a bit after eating the apple before I vape again.

Try a citrus flavored juice for awhile. Orange or Lemon works for me.

I've tried the coffee trick, and it didn't work for me.
