Why can't a PV be desinged to work on a conventional Alkaline battery pack, or maybe even a Big one you could put on the table next to you.

Conventional alkaline batteries lack ther high A/h needed for vaping - it would require a large amount in series to achieve the required current. However, i see no reason why a lithium ion pack connected to a modded Ego or similar device with a cord would not work.
