Why did you choose your e-cig?

I'm a born-again vaper, but ended up sticking with the same style e-cig that I tried three years ago. First, I had a Duo. Now I have a V2 and I couldn't be happier. I think you call them cig-a-likes? I'm very habit driven, so I went for something familiar and didn't think that anything even existed outside of cig-a-likes. Now that I know there are other types of devices thanks to this forum, they interest me, but they all seem like so much work!

What device did you start with? How did you come to the device you use now? What made you try it?

Edit: I'm not familiar with how a lot of devices are made. I know the company I use tests their devices. If you mod yours, isn't there a possibility of a safety hazard?

I started with Premium then V2 starter kits that i got fairly cheaply thru Groupons. Because i'm a cheap S.O.B., i realized continuing along the cigalike path would be expensive and that there had to be a better way. Google eventually led me here.

You might be misinterpreting the term "mod". Most folks buy "mods" that are built by established companies, some of which have excellent reputations (and some, well not so much.)

If you like V2, then an ultra-conservative way to step up might be to either buy one of their packs of empty cartridges and order some ejuice from one of the many vendors you will find mentioned here. Or, do like i did and go to Youtube and search "refill V2 Ecig" to learn how you can refill the drained cartridges you already bought. (Did i mention i was a cheap S.O.B.?)

If you can tolerate refilling either your own used V2 cartridges or refill the (very expensive) V2 empty cartridges you can buy from V2, you will have a good idea of what to do next, especially if you spend a few minutes per day reading posts from other newcomers here.

Since my V2 days (all of a month or two ago), I have bought an ego Mini, and an eGo Twist, and just received a Vamo--all very cheaply.

That said, I still occasionally refill my old V2 cartridges and use them when i need to vape in stealth mode, since i can hide them in my palm.

Good luck!

Thanks! I'm with you on the cheapo part. My second V2 order was liquid after I figured out which flavor I liked best. Also ordered their Liquimax clearos instead of the expensive blanks. Now that I know other companies have cheaper liquid, I'll probably give some of them a go.

I see that the eGo and Vamo devices are popular, so I'll probably look into them as my next upgrade. I'm just leery of having to take everything apart. I feel accomplished just refilling my carts and clearos, no less cleaning the individual hardware pieces. lol

I started with Blu and it didn't work out for me, I stopped into a local store and got to try out an eGo style battery on a clearomizer and was awestruck. I bought a kit with a basic 900mAh battery and 1.6mL clearomizer. I absolutely love it. I've been just over a week, not even wanting an analog. I'm going to be getting a variable voltage battery soon, though, probably a spinner.

A basic ego battery will give you 650-900 mah and really is no more complicated than your cigalike. Screw your carto or clearo on it and go. The caveate though is I don't know what connector the V2 has. If it is 510 then the same ones will go on an ego if it is not you might need an adapter or new cartos and clearos.

Basically it will give you much longer battery life between chargings.

i *think* V2 is referred to as KR808D. Definitely not 510 or ego. I don't even think there is an adapter to go from V2 to either 510 or ego. V2 sells adapters to other cigalikes but not to any standards like 510 or ego.

That sounds exactly like my story V2 - eGo - Vamo! I'm sure it has to be a somewhat common progression though. I wish I would have just bought a Vamo or mod of some sort to begin with, but I had the need to have that cig-like appearance at first. Now I just want good taste, consistent hit, and vapor that does it for me. I feel satisfied where I'm at with the Vamo/atty. I think finding juice that I really like is my next quest.

Started with a Blu Cig 3 yrs ago...didn't last. Went back to analogs aftr a month. After I heard about new devices from a friend, I ordered two ProVari's and Vivi Novas for me and my wife. That was 8 months ago, and haven't had an analog since. Love vaping, and will never go back to stinkers! Smoked for 25 years...never again!

I never held an e-cig of any type before or since I got my ProVari V2. After about a week of using carts and drip atomizers I got an
AGA T2+. I think I'm good to go for a while. I'm sure, had I gone with a cheap one to start (that didn't meet my expectation) I would have gone back to regcigs . But their is a chance had I seen promise in the vaping solution I my have started climbing the ladder. I wanted to give this solution every chance for success and I had no intention of becoming a collector, so I went for it. I have no regrets. The ProVari works great the AGA T2 works great and I haven't had a regcig since I took this thing out of my mail box. It has paid for itself already. My son (32) hasn't had a regcig for about a week now (I gave him a ProVari for his birthday).

I'm lazy so I brought this over from another thread. LOL

Yup. (and i didn't even mention the 510-T starter kit i wasted money on before i got the ego)

i wish i'd started with the Vamo, but apparently this progression is common. must be a rite of passage :)
