Hey Hope everyone's day is going well! Thought I'd ask for some feedback about lung issues. Anyway I have noticed a whistling sound in my airway when I take a deep breath and exhale, as well as a heaviness in my lungs which just started. It is a slight whistling sound but still concerning. I have vaped for 4 years and had not run into this problem until now. I don't know if it will go away?? First Off, I have never smoked and am 18. I knew it would hurt my health and lungs, so from family stress of an abusive parent I used high nicotine levels and E-Cigs instead. I have mild PTSD from an account with a gun aimed at me and my life end right before my damned eyes so that;s where this vaping emerged. I also have never heard of this Diacetyl problem until now, and "popcorn lung" concerns me since I am wheezing and all. Great question I have: Can the amount of diacetyl in vape juice cause pop corn lung in a period of 4 years and will my wheezing go away? Any feedback would be appreciated!

Sorry to read of your situation.

Concerning your physical symptoms, you should see your doctor. This is vaping forum and its really not appropriate to ask for medical advice here.

To the best of my knowledge, diacetyl has not been much of a problem for a couple of years now. Most, if not all, commercial e-liquid manufacturers have stopped using that flavoring agent; to use it would be suicide for their business. The "popcorn lung" thing was a sensationalized social media thing and had very little to do with vaping. A simple Google search will show the topic is "fake news".

I agree with the previous comments; see your doctor.

I am a 55 year-old, 30+year pack-and-a-half/day, smoker. I have been cigarette free for the last 5 years thanks to vaping. Because of my smoking habits; I found deep lung hits the most satisfying. I am not a fan of the throat-hit sensation, often associated with PG; so I preferred high(er) VG content.

After 3(ish?) years of vaping; I started to become aware of a heaviness in my chest, and morning congestion and phlegm, that was similar to when I smoked. I had read that VG might cause these types of feelings in some vapers.

I moved my PG/VG ratio back closer to a 50/50 ratio (40PG/60VG seems to be about my sweet spot now); and it helped my situation quite a bit. I have also moved away from muti-coil, high-vapor producing, atomizers; in favor of single-coil, restrictive airflow, atomizers; to reduce my overall exposure to excessive vapor.

This is only my own experience. I am NOT qualified to diagnose, or recommend treatment, to anyone about anything. Please see healthcare professionals to make sure it is nothing serious.

I did the exact same thing about a year ago and it completely reversed my symptoms.
