Why do I get "hoarse" when I lower my nicotine level???

I was a smoker for 27+ years. When I quite and started vaping, I was at 2 packs a day. I started with 24mg of nicotine and dropped my level every couple months. I am currently at 6mg. Every time I lower the nicotine level I get hoarse. Is this just me???

possibly when you drop the nic the throat has a chance to repair its self and the "repair" includes a bit of a breakdown of the abused tissues to be replaced by new tissue... just a theory

My throat can get a little dried out and sore if I vape too much (generally chain vaping).. is it possible that every time you lower your nicotine level, that you go through a period of vaping a bit more than usual? (Until you even out on the new level of nicotine)

If so, you might just be drying out your throat for a short period every time you lower your nicotine level.

That is possible. I do vape a little more when I lower the nic level. So I'm not so "emotional" while adjusting to less nic.

So just adjust a little more for it, and realize it will happen. Adjust by having some throat lozenges handy when you reduce your nic and try and drink a bit more water during that time as well.. perhaps gargle with a saline solution if you need.

I was a pipe smoker and started vaping because I developed a cough, I started at 18 mg and am now down to 3 Mg. I don't recall ever getting horse because to this. As with the pipe I drink a lot of liquid when I vape.

I will have to agree with the others who say you are probably vaping more when you lower the nicotine and suggest drinking more fluids.
