I agree with the previous posters who compared juice to the aging process of certain food & alcohol.
I purchase made-to-order juices, and also some that are pretty fresh (perhaps within a few days prior to ordering, is my best guess).
My method is to simply let them sit in a dark cupboard. I'll give each bottle a shake or two each day. I'll remove their caps for maybe a few minutes here & there. That's it.
Countless examples, but I'll just talk about the one I'm vaping as I type: Waffle, by Backwoods Brew. A fairly popular brand, as it ranked #3 on a looong-running thread here on ECF asking for people's top 5 juice brands. From what I can gather, a fairly small mom-&-pop operation but which obviously has a following.
Anyway, on the bottle's label it has a "born-on date." It was mixed the day after I ordered it.
Per their website, BWB recommends a minimum 3-day steeping time for this particular flavor. Well, I received it in the mail 3 days after the born-on date. I let it sit until it hit room temperature, filled up my tank, and
Pretty tasty! Maple syrup was the dominant flavor, with some waffle taste, followed by a bit of butter taste.
Fast forward another several days. The maple has toned down somewhat, and the buttery waffle is now more pronounced. The juice's flavor has definitely changed to something even better.
Some people don't "buy into" the whole steeping thing. Who knows.. maybe their tastebuds are off, maybe they haven't experienced made-to-order and/or very fresh juice.
All I know is what I taste, and I'm certainly a steeping subscriber...
