Why do my Evods suddenly flood? Frustrated with it.

Lots of things. Pressure has a lot to do with bottom coils. First off, a change in temperature (ie from a climate controlled building to the warmer outside) will do it. Going from the fifth floor to the first floor will do it. Sitting it on it's side for too long will do it. Looking at it the wrong way will do it. Pulling too hard will do it. Pulling too soft will do it. Letting your cat take a hit will....you get the picture ;)

I don't think any of those things have to do with his problem. From what I read, it appears that even after changing the coils, the evod is still leaking. Unless he rebuilt the heads improperly, I would assume it is cracking. If he is sure it isn't cracking, then I would go back to assuming the heads aren't properly built, either by him, or poor QC by the factory if he bought em.

Leaking comes from:
Crack in tank - allows air in/fluid out
Missing/Damaged/ mis-fit Seal coil to upper pipe. Always slip the seal up a touch and let the pipe Seat it as needed.
Lose coil - coils can back out when removing base to fill, always check before reinstalling base.
Flavor wicks Damaged, Missing, improperly installed.

Tank is a sealed unit
Wicks FILL the slot
Seals secure the Coil Head - Bottom and top.

Sure, that's what logic says. However, how about the time I was vaping along, about 1/4 through the tank, and it just sprung a leak. A replacement head fixed the problem, and it hasn't happened since (well over a month of near daily use on this particular evod). Clearly it wasn't a crack, 'cause it would still be leaking. The factory head worked fine for several tanks, and then boom! That means the flavor wicks and seals were all working fine as well. Something changed, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it was.

Are Evods glued together? I checked for cracks & it isn't. I wonder if the body became dis-attached due to some kind of glue?
Is that possible? I've checked everything I can think of.

There's definitely a joint between the plastic tank and the threaded metal ring at the bottom, but I think it's press-fit and not glued. Which reminds me about the leak my wife had... I don't know how it happened, but her evod clone separated at that seam just enough to cause a leak. I pressed it back together (using my thumbs and a laminated counter top) until it clicked; I'm assuming the press-fit snapped back together. It worked fine for another week, and then did it again. I pitched it after the next leak...

The flavour wicks may have become displaced slightly.
Sometimes, when you draw too hard, the pressure causes the wick to move out of place. I.e. it doesn't seal the gap anymore.

It takes a bit of fiddling with the size of the flavour wick to find out what size flavour wicks works best for your liquid/setup and the way you draw on the bcc

I've had 2 EVODS die from cracked plastic.
I read somewhere that the way it's assembled, you can accidentally stress fracture the plastic as you screw the base back on.
One of them was working fine til I INVERTED it - THEN it leaked, cause the crack was up by the tip - initially...

I've only had EVOD issues with
a) loose head/coil
b) cracked plastic

Never had any wicking trouble - but I don't vape Boba's...my stuff's more like 50-50 or thinner.

Because the plastic is cracked.

I guarantee you, if your evod started flooding out of the blue, that is what it is. Happened twice to mine.

Often times you wont even know its cracked, unless it is flooding. Take a flashlight and look inside.

As long as the tank isn't cracked here is the fix. Pick up some white (preferably unbleached but white is fine) 100% cotton yarn from Wal-Mart (Peaches & Creme brand) or any Hobby/Craft store. Cut some yarn off (probably a couple of feet to last a while) and boil it for about 20 min and set it aside to dry.

Once an EVOD or ProTank head gets gurgly and leaky, remove the base from the body, pull the rubber stopper off the main shaft, using pliers pull the main shaft off of the top, then remove the flavor wicks (usually there are 2) and replace them with a single small piece of the boiled yarn. After putting the center post and rubber stopper back on, clip any excess yarn off with nail clippers. This has fixed the leaking problem on every factory head I have had so far.

After doing this they have never leaked again, not when changing temps, not when riding elevators up as far as 6 or 7 floors, not when laying on it's side, just...never.

This sounds exactly like the fix I was looking for myself. Looking forward to trying this as soon as I can get around to it.
Thanks, Scott....

No prob. I will add a couple of things though. first my experience with this is limited to the EVOD (I do not have a PT) but this has fixed all of my leaking and gurgling on the EVOD, since the EVOD and PT use the same heads it should work for PT as well.

Also since I got my ARO, the factory head that came with it has not leaked or gurgled at all. Since the ARO heads will work in EVODs and probably PT as well, I may try that as well. It could be the ARO heads are just better than the EVOD/PT heads. However, I am still using the original ARO head, so it is possible that I just got lucky with this one. Only time will tell.

NOTE: ARO heads do fit in EVODs, but EVOD heads do NOT fit in the ARO.
