I can see picking up something cheap to see if ecigs will work for you, but once you know they will...

Why keep buying cheap ... junk???

You could afford to smoke, but you can't afford a quality mod?

I smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day, so my ProVari paid for itself in 10 days.

COME ON PEOPLE!!!

Take a crowbar and pry a little bit of money out of your wallet and get yourself a decent mod.

And another thing...

Quit complaining about the cheap ... thing you just bought that leaks, or breaks, or gives you dry hits.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

Just ranting... I feel better now...:)

I prefer not to waste my money on overpriced junk therefore having a larger quantity of reasonably priced junk. My junk rant.

Yea, I'll admit I should have been a little more specific... sorry! I'm still new-ish and I have had WONDERFUL experiences with SO MANY people here, but I've just had a few bad experiences with people and they just so happen to own Provaris.. I am in NO WAY saying that I think EVERYONE who owns one is mean or unkind. Sorry about that! One person said I was all but an idiot because I couldn't calculate resistance and volts when I said I didn't understand, for the price, why Provari doesn't have VW. I'll be honest, I still don't know how to do all that so maybe I am stupid, but at a month and a half in, I didn't realize that was a requirement!

MrsP,

You are SO wrong!

I don't own a Provari, and I'm a complete jerk. So there!

Have a day.

Nope...Sometimes you get more than what you pay for....

My MVP2 is a perfect example of that.
If you know your ecigs then obviously you can get a bang for your buck.
But if you're comparing an MVP2 to a VTR for example, paying more money will get you higher wattage, voltage, etc as we all know.

And what I meant by my first post is that, if you pay $20 for something and expect it to work as well as a $200 mod, then that's THEIR fault.

I see your point, but if you don't know anything about ecigs then you shouldn't be spending big money. However, if you know what you're buying, then the more money you put into it, the better the product should be.
A $20 fasttech clone obviously isn't as good as the original. the quality, craftsmanship, etc, are totally different.

It's still not as simple as "you get what you pay for". My FT Kayfun clone has a better quality/price value ratio than the original SvoeMesto version (and that comes from someone who uses a SvoeMesto Semovar Mod). The original is better but it is not four times the quality.

You get what you choose to buy. The price you pay for that item is then irrelevant.

Wow! That's rude. There are some people like that here though & I've run into them as well. Since you're new I will let you know that you can put people on your "ignore" list so you never have to read their posts. Click the person's name & you will be taken to their profile page. The option to add to ignore list will be in a list of options on the left. :) Very few have made it to my ignore list, but those that have I don't miss one bit.

Oh, I didn't know that, that is really good information! I haven't run into many people like that either, that was the first of the very few, but it was enough to make a mark!

VW is about more then not wanting to do the math. I am familiar with ohms law, and I prefer VW anyway. I love to switch my flavors around all day. I like variety, and have no interest in finding an all day vape. As a result, I carry several cartotanks around all day, and I switch them all day. The resistance is different for each one, and I have no desire to adjust the voltage all day to account for it. VW lets me set it and forget it, yet provides an option to adjust if the desire strikes. Also, the resistance of a coil does tend to drift as it's used over time. I don't need to adjust the voltage to account for that drift with a VW device. It offers more consistency.

"quality" and what's "worth it" is all in the eye of the beholder anyway,,,,,,

I vape like a freight train,,,I can buzz through an MVP2 battery in as little as 5 hours,,,,,,,that same battery lasts my youngest daughter 4 days, and I do believe it would last my oldest daughter 4 WEEKS,,,,

what I need, and what's good for me vs what is good for them are THREE DIFFERENT THINGS.

I do not for the life of me understand why people don't get that,,,,,,

Seems more than a few around here are confused by the words Cheap and Junk.

Honestly the Thread Title is incorrect. There most certainly is Junk that cost little i.e. Cheap Junk. Unfortunately there is also plenty of JUNK out there that cost much to much for what it is. i.e. Expensive Junk.

People that buy Junk cheaply normally Knowingly take a gamble they will get their moneys worth from the item and are not expecting a lifetime purchase.

That said: I normally search out Low Cost items that work and Not cheap items that are known to be Junk.
Have I been burned in this approach - Yes
Have I had good luck in this approach - Yes
For every invested Dollar Lost, I have saved close to 10 times as much.

If I had to estimate, minus e-liquids, 98% of the items I have purchased over the past 18 months is still in my inventory and working.
Believe it or not, every piece has its time and place for use.:)

I've been buying e-cig stuff since 2006 and the expensive top notch stuff back then would be considered total crap nowadays (I threw away a box full of old stuff last week, probably worth over $500). So I don't think "you get what you pay for" applies in that context. And sure, there'll always be something "better" if you shelve out more money but not everyone needs or wants it. In fact, I rather buy 10 different things to play and tinker with than spending the same amount of money on 1 that lasts me a lifetime.

why? i can think of lots of reasons...

- Because its all they can afford

- Because their "cheap junk" does the trick for them

- Because "cheap junk" is all they have access to

- Because they know that (if all other things equal), 5 volts from a $30 mod, "taste & feel" exactly the same as 5 volts from a $250 mod.

- Because they know that not everything that is "cheap" is neccesarily "junk". Just like not everything that is expensive is neccesarily good.

that being said, it would be interesting to hear what you consider "cheap" and "junk".

Interesting metaphor for the ProVari and 8 track tape, but not applicable for a number of reasons.

Cassette Tapes did not become the media of choice until a little company called Sony created the Walkman and basically created the idea of a wearable personal music system. The 8 track tape was technically superior to the cassette and it was not until improved tape formula and things like Dolby noise reduction were introduced did the little cassette approach the quality of the 8 track tape. At this time there is no alternate format for vaping. We all vape a mixture of PG/VG via a coil and wick arrangement. A fundamentally new paradigm in vaping would have to be developed, which incidently would obsolete ALL of our devices, not just a ProVari, to make a ProVari obsolete.

2. Current vaping innovations seem to be moving to higher and higher wattage mods with cartomizers/clearomizers using dual and quad coils. While these "higher wattage devices" allow us to vape at higher power levels, the fact still remains that we are still vaping at normal wattages per individual coil. Despite this fact, a properly coiled Kayfun can fly circles around an Aerotank even with it's single coil design. Multiple coils and sub ohm coils are the flavor of the month, but these "innovations" require more powerful power supplies (batteries) to drive them.

There is nothing at all to suggest that a ProVari, Protovapor XPV, DNA20 or DNA30 will be obsoleted in 2 weeks and complete garbage in 6 months.

In 40 years? Our current devices may have as much in common with future devices as an Iphone has in common with a rotary dial telephone.
