Ok easy question to answer. Because we can and we always will!!!!!!!
I work in a shop that caters,( believe me it's personal in our shop. Your part of our family)
I just have a hard time when people come in and buy something that they have no clue about. They spend the money and then bring it back to us to change a wick, or build a coil, or the famous "I don't care, as long as I can get the great big clouds".
I try and try to explain the concept to them. They see me with a KFL or a rm2 with micro coils. When I get to the math involved, then they all get "The dear in the headlight look".
I've had people offer me money to build them a coil that would vape like my Reo's. Will I do it.
Easy answer. NO, NO, NO, NOPE, NO WAY NO HOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I want a big vape like you got. So if I buy one of them I'll bet that big cloud, right?"
If you know what your doing.
Well you can do it for me.
Just glad I still got that job.
If you don't know what your doing, then don't fall on my shoulders. If you can't change a wick on a vivi nova, or kanger T2 then learn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now if you have a disability, then we go to the better page. You bet. I'll do whatever you need to help. When you come in with a white cane, or a disability then I will bend over backwards for you.

If your young and able. Well I'm not your momma or daddy.
Thank you ECF for letting me get this out.
Vape strong and live long to all:vapor:

LOL! "I want great BIG clouds!"

Can you sell them something simpler? Suggest a DC or BCC to 'em? Explain to the little newbs the awesome power of VG? The reason I'm asking....too many years as a flippin' beancounter. I'm feeling like it's time to jump the accounting ship and go sell vape gear and juice. I'm interested as all hell in what you've got to say, TNT! Seriously!

If you want great big clouds then I'm the wrong person to talk to. I just use a mech with a 1.4-1.8 ohm. Even my KFL is set at 1.9.
Honestly I don't care what it looks like. I just want it to work. And provide good flavor and TH.

I was snickering a little bit at your post though I totally can empathize with your position.

You see we just sorta got a vape shop in this one horse town. The local tatoo parlor/headshop/adult toy store just added some vape gear. From what I have heard it isn't much and none of the workers know much. That has sort of left me with the "I wonder if I can screw up my courage to walk into that sort of place and teach them a thing or 5 (with my REO +RM2 of course)."

I wish your shop was close to me. Then again I am too shy to ask for the help. When I go to places (not just vape shops) I feel like they look at me like some old person that is not cool enough to get it. I just wish I was brave enough to ask and not just judge people by the way they look at me. But any advice you want to give here I will take. I learn better in person though. Lol

Walk in my shop. (rules forbid saying it). I'd rather help someone who is shy and doesn't know than a punk kid who thinks they know everything. And then don't know anything. I'll explain all I can. (thank you family here at ECF for that information). It's the ones that want to push 8 amps out of a 2 amp battery.
I just don't want to hurt anyone. And I won't be responsible if I build a coil and it shorts out and blows out your battery. Or worse.
My preference is based on what I've learned. Not from what someone told me to do. And I owe all this to ECF and it's members :toast:
I've got my way. You have yours. Most don't like my juice. OK. I don't like yours either, but I'll at least try it to confirm that. Mine just smells good to you. Yea you ought to taste it. Thanks HHV and Aroma.

I've spent a great deal of time teaching friends and co-workers how to build their own RBA's. My philosophy: I'll pack my kit up, blowtorch and all, and come over to your house if necessary. I'll bring you enough wick and wire for several months. You can hit my PV while I'm there if you want, to remind yourself why you want to rebuild in the first place. I'll even let you borrow one of my nicer RDA's to practice on until you decide if rebuilding is for you.

Wrap a man a coil, and he can vape for a week. Teach a man how to coil, and he can vape forever.

Amen to that. I've offered. It's up to them now.

How about offering a "Build a Coil" workshop on a slow sales night. Charge for the workshop or they have to buy their own device from your shop to participate. I am surprised that I have not heard more about Vape 101 classes and such held by local vape shops. I think they would increase sales and help teach your new customers how to use their equipment. Just a thought. It could be fun.

I am a new vaper too, so this is just from my perspective. The only knowledge I have about vaping has been learned from all the good people here. The first week I was vaping I thought, oh, if I want one of those I could just pay someone to build the coils. Now I know that even the most perfectly built coil can be trashed if not used properly. I have never attempted to build anything. Still in reading and learning mode.

Edit: I just want to add that I do appreciate your work behind the counter at a vape shop. You serve a vital role.

I did research on ECF and bought my first setup online. When I found a vape shop 30 miles from my house I went. I talked to them for a good hour and only bought some juice and an Evod. They were very patient with me and my 100 questions.

Hanging around a vape shop for a few hours just to listen to the customers that come in is both highly amusing and frustrating :D Not nearly as easy to handle on a daily basis working with those customers as many of us that love to vape would think I suspect ;) Don't get me wrong, i'm sure there are many great customers that are great to work with but I also know there are more then a few that will try ones patience :glare:

Its great customer service to continue to do everything possible to help someone that has a disability and needs the help but lazy is lazy and those people need to learn to do for themselves.

May I suggest that if you don't want to service newbie cloud chasers that you vape something that doesn't produce clouds in front of them? Of course customers are going to want whatever they see being used and if they are new, they can't have a clue about what is behind it, what's required or what's safe. The most exposure people have when walking into a vape store for the first time usually comes from a kit sold at a convienence store. There's a good chance many of them would choke on their first cloud or TH anyway.

Several shops around here do offer to rebuild for customers and people take them up on it - at first. Most walk out knowing how to do it at home for convienence, others need to see it a few times to get the confidence up and those shops also have a corner for rebuilding including the tools. Things ike ohm meters are helpful. Customers meet each other there and I can guarentee you that most walk out buying more than wick and wire. That's only happened within the last 6 months and I've seen the transition from buying everything online to buying mainly local within that time. A store can't buy advertising that effective. One serves free coffee (avoiding the health license).

My issue is that I'm not interested in mechanicals or rba's at this time and there isn't much that isn't industrial looking. The stores are vacant of things I might find interesting. Not everyone is satisfied with a boring ego for long. If I had started vaping today, I'd probably be looking at a mech and rba based on what's available. That pushes responsible stores into training their customers on how to jump from an ego to mech safely, including helping them with rebuilds or lose them.

im like my parents if you dont get it on the 1st discussion then your screwed :toast:
