Sounds like you've got the right approach - just because you're supposed to try to sell people something, doesn't in any way mean you should compromise your ETHICS - like not getting them into something dangerous.

I've mentioned before the idea of a B&M having classes.
If you have the time to do it - maybe evenings or weekends - you should suggest it to the owner.
People WOULD pay a small fee for a class.
If I owned a shop, I'd have classes ALL THE TIME:
vaping Basics
Basic coil wrapping
Advanced coil building
DIY juice

And I'd get at least some of the participants loyally buying all their supplies from me - at reasonable markups. Supply business that most B&M's lose to online vendors, because there's no added value to buying from them.

Welcome to the entitlement generation. Chasing clouds isn't what this is all about to many of us. It's about quitting a deadly habit and learning something in the process. Oh and discovering new flavors we never thought we'd like, or at least for me anyway.

Good way to put it. Also the liability factor plays a major part.
If I build a coil , it's perfect. You go home and either overcharge your battery, or short something out and it blows up. Guess who wins in court.
But HE said it was safe. He made it for me.
You lose and they win.
I just tell em to search YouTube. That's how I learned.
And then explain to someone that can't pull their pants up or drive the selfs wants to know why he can't check everything with his ego twist. And won't spend the money in a meter.
Darn I'm getting grumpy in my old
Age.

I used to work in car audio and young kids will always be young kids. Eventually they might grow up to learn that having someone plop some stuff in their stuff doesn't necessarily produce the best outcome. They would hear the demo car and go - I want that! Well of course you do, that's $8,000 worth of gear making the front door shake. "Oh well I only have $1000?" Guess what, you don't get to do what we just showed you unless you buy stuff intelligently and do the labor on your own. You have to pay to play, in other words. Or learn and do. Neither seems to be a great option these days.

Your other option is to give a class yourself - local parks and recreation department, non-credit community college class, etc. There's enough to cover in 8 weeks and it's a decent source of secondary income. You can find information on teaching online; course outline, how to make class lesson plans, handout materials, etc.

It does sound appealing to offer classes. But between work and being an elderly care giver. Not enough time in the day

Maybe talk to the vape store owner. Particularly if vaping IS allowed in the shop. Maybe set up a biweekly mini vapenight in the shop. For 2 hours your customers can come in. Sit and chat. Get problems solved with their gear. Swap stories and visit with each other. Maybe do one on a Sat afternoon and another in the early evening on another day.

That will do a couple of things.
1. It will get people in the shop. People in the shop = sales
2. It will create a sense of community and loyalty to the shop = sales
3. People will compare gear and want something new. Which happens to be right there for the buying = sales
4. Problems will be solved so people will be less frustrated and less likely to give up on vaping = sales but more important one more off the cigs

I wish your shop was close to me. Then again I am too shy to ask for the help. When I go to places (not just vape shops) I feel like they look at me like some old person that is not cool enough to get it. I just wish I was brave enough to ask and not just judge people by the way they look at me. But any advice you want to give here I will take. I learn better in person though. Lol

you just gotta impress them with what you learned on your own and on here....then they'll stop looking at you like that!!!
seriously!

like a girl in IT ...
1. they think "girl - doesn't know anything" get weird looks
2. find out "girl - does know stuff" get booby looks
3. accept "girl becomes just 'one-of-the-guys' while she beats them at Borderlands 2

Hahaha meanckz, well said :)

And yes, I also think it's the entitlement generation. "I cannot do that / do not want to bother, so you gotta do it for me!" - Naawww. not really :p

I personally have been vaping for 2 years and I buy my atomizers with the heads that you can change. Changing those and doing a little dry burn when necessary, that is not rocket science.
As to building coils - forget it. To me (personally) it is not worth the bother and I cannot see well enough either (50+ generation, wears glasses). - But bother somebody to do the work for me? Huh? Not in a month of Sundays! :p

Those evening classes may be a good idea!
But beware of the Physics-challenged :D (not physically, but Physics, such as Ohm and Volts and Watt and Ampere and stuff... ) - Tee hee, I remember some poor, very patient vaper trying to teach those things to three blonde ladies (one of them myself). Forget it. Just forget it :D
