Hon, if you're just 18 now, STOP with the cigarettes before they OWN you!! And, you're in here asking questions, so that doesn't make you a loser!

Anyway, I vape so I could kick a 40 year smoking habit. BUZZ?! Are you serious? All cigs did for me was clog my nostrils, kill my sense of smell and taste, wear down my good stamina and give me sinus headaches and an upper respiratory infection at least once a year. Get a buzz on life while you're still young!!

I have a son who is 19 and addicted to cigarettes. At first I couldn't understand and I was pretty mean to him about it. He didn't start till he was 18. I felt like it was not second nature for him, so he couldn't be addicted like I am addicted.

You smoked for 40, me 25 years, some ten others 5, we should try to remember it is addictive for everybody. Yes he is young, and hasn't smoked as long as others. But the addiction is still there. It's just harder for some of us to understand.

I remember being 19 and some one took my last cigarette and I slapped her clear across the face and yelled some nasty obscenities at her..... Not my character at all. That was purely from my addiction.

I don't think I ever got a buzz from cigs except the first time I smoked. I have never got a nic buzz from vaping before. But it does make my craving for nic go away and that's all I care about. As long as it keeps me off cigarettes it's all good. I smoked for 10 years or and I tried everything else. Cold turkey, gum, patches, everything and then tried vaping and I've smoked a cig or 2 after I started but I've been smoke free for about 5 months now. That's why I vape.

Not to get too personal but a friend of mine died a while back. Seizured in my car. Tried to get him to the hospital and he died in my passenger seat. I guess I have a little bit of ptsd at this point which is why I started smoking cigarettes. I quit yesterday and bought an ecig because I could tell it was getting out of hand. I wanted to quit before it got worse. I did away with alcohol too so I'm pretty clean at this point. Nothing but my ecig and I feel like a new man. Right now it's a crutch but I think it'll just turn into a hobby later. I'm smoking 24mg of nic as I write this and I hope that within a few months I'll be down to 3 or 6mg

I'm sorry. It sounds like it fueled you to take back your own life though so, silver linings.

One note I will make is, don't force yourself to use lower nicotine if you don't feel ready. Doing so will just disappoint you and frustrate you. When I was a vaping noob, I was huffing 36mg nic juice. 3 and a half years later, I'm at 15mg. Less than that and there's not enough throat hit to feel good to me, at this point. I'm working on it though, and perfectly satisfied with the fact that I haven't had a cigarette in my vaping career.

I have a bottle of 12, a bottle of 18 and a bottle of 24 so I'm just kind of playing around at this point truing to find what feels right. 24 gave me a stomach ache and 12 did literally nothing. Hopefully 18 will be the happy medium.

Sorry to hear that! Good for you on cleaning out bad habits/addictions. I smoked for 37 years and vaping was the only thing that helped me quit enough so I could do it. That was 2 1/2 years ago. After nine months I was nic free, but I still had pangs for a smoke. It took me about 14 months to really get rid of the smoking addiction.

I was down to about 2 ml a day last year and thought I might stop. Then I got interested in it again and vaped more for a while. I'm vaping less now, but I think I'll be vaping for a while still. I enjoy vaping and the habit does not feel like an addiction.

I vape to keep from smoking. I'm 21 months into it and on occasion still have a strong desire for a cigarette. I do well when I'm not around smokers but when I am around them I sometimes find myself craving one really bad. I just remind myself how much better I feel, smell, and taste and the cravings go to the wayside.

A lot of people vape because they lie to themselves and say their not addicted to it.

I actually hear a lot more people on ECF say they are addicted to vaping nicotine than not. I use a bit of nic once in a while, but not often these days and when I say a bit, I mean around 2 mg. I find 3 mg too much, LOL. I really doubt nicotine has much to do with the addictive side of vaping though because IMO vaping nicotine is not particularly addictive for the vast majority of people. Then again, a substance is not even required for addiction to happen so I'm sure vaping is addictive to a small percentage of vapers also.

Last weekend my wife and I spent a bit of time at our neighbors. I didn't take a PV and we spent about five hours over there. After we got home I took the dog for a walk, we had dinner, watched TV for an hour and I then realized I had not vaped for a while. Yes, the first vape after that was quite enjoyable, but I really don't consider this addiction. When I was addicted to smoking, that scenario would have been totally different! I also really find my evening chocolate chip cookie really enjoyable, but I don't think of that as an addiction either, though I do miss it when we're out of those cookies ;)

I realize my thoughts about vaping are generally my opinions and I try to be clear about that. Your quote above is stated as fact. I believe you are mistaken. OTOH, if you have data to support what you said, I would appreciate seeing it. I am always up for learning something new :thumb:

Rye, no one can really state their opinion as fact and I was stating my opinion in response to the question posed. Its my opinion that many vape because they are addicted to nicotine, have given up tobacco or as often said their tobacco addiction, and have now moved onto vaping with nicotine. If someone was only vaping for flavor or fun then why add nicotine, unless of course you like the nicotine or are addicted to it??

Also unless you have not noticed there are many unsubstantiated statements being posting everywhere on the internet as facts, it happens every day in life, we just need to be able to realize that a lot of facts people post are just opinions and should be considered as such.

I started vaping about 10 days ago because I wanted and needed to get off cigarettes finally. In this short time, my breathing is noticeably improved and I love that I don't stink anymore.

It's been truly amazing. One day I'm smoking, the next day I'm vaping and not even thinking of cigarettes. And this after 37 years of cancer sticks!

Now I'm waiting for my MVP2, Nautilus w/BVC's, and new juices to arrive. I'm having fun with this!
