When you are ready to graduate to the adult world of vaping get yourself some good tanks. Hassle free. Just grab and go. Use your tanks with a quality box mod and you have made it to the big time.
Take it from someone who has been doing this for 5 years started with the most basic cig look alike and has owned every single mod, atomizer, battery, cartomizer, clearomizer, tank, and drip tip combination ever manufactured.

there is nothing magical about dripping that instantly makes stuff taste better, just people who cant build proper wicks tanks![]()
You're not going to get good performance out of an RDA at 7 watts. That's not what they're designed for. It's like getting a Camaro and expecting it to ride as smooth as a sedan.
I bought an IGO-L to test flavors with and for that, it is great. However built with a 2.2 ohm micro and cotton yarn wick, it really tastes no different than my ARO rebuilt with the same coil and wick. Ok there is a slight difference but it's only enough to be noticeable if I swap back and forth between them. It's definitely not enough to make me want to switch to dripping full time.
Now I am using them on a regulated device at 7 watts, so there might be a bigger difference at a sub ohm level on a mech or something.
In my experience, flavor comes from coil position and chamber size more than the build. You're very limited with a tank.
Well it's true you're not going to get a huge improvement vaping at that watt with an RDA. However there are some factors that are different depending on coil placement, chamber size, etc. I got an Igo S a year or so ago just to use to test flavors & once I got my placement on that dripper set right there's a definite difference in flavor with the dripper over any tank. In fact it was so much better that several of my juices actually got USED because they tasted super good in the dripper while not being as great in the tank.
HST they definitely do their best work at higher watts. But for me personally, once I started using my dripper I used my tank less & less & now I use a dripper exclusively with a Reo. Going back to tank after using a dripper was just not as satisfying.
Any tips then on placement?

Get it very close to the air hole & not higher or lower but right in front of it. For me it took a bit of fiddling at first because I was obsessed with having the legs on my build the same length. It turns out that, at least with the drippers I have, having the legs the same length doesn't allow for getting the coil where it should be. In the Igo S I use I build it on the left side (negative post closest to you when looking down over it) & the negative post leg is super short while the positive leg is longer. So it's sort of at an angle where it nearly aligned with the edge of the building deck, but just short of it. so then when I put the cap on it's about 2 mm in front of the hole directly in front of it (hope that makes sense. I can't post a pic right now but someone else might be able to provide a pic).
I do not like box mods at all so the REO was out for me. My first dripper mod was a K100 and it was a good beginner dripper but really didn't have much to attract me to full time dripping. I went back to pens and my SVD but it just wasn't the same. I upgraded to the Vanilla mech mod and am now a full fledged dripper. I have a simple job that gives me 10 minute breaks and I drip then. Sometimes I take a pen and take a quick hit in the break room now and then (they allow it as long as no one is eating). But the Vanilla has the boldest flavor and the triple coil offers me some nice hits. The drilled holes in the atty offer massive clouds that I could never have imagined (just looks impressive, doesn't really effect vaping that I now of. At home I purely drip and love it. I suppose most people assume or have decided that dripping is inconvenient. I get that, but love the experience and so I am a full-fledged drip advocate.
not for me. 5 of my 8 vapes are RDAs but tbch i still struggle with setting up coils properly so i'm pretty sure i won't be able to figure out RTAs. dripping at my level is easy enough but the tank thing (genny, etc) i just don't see happening for me any time soon. still trying and learning at this point.
