PG for sure is hygroscopic which means "the ability of a substance to attract water molecules from the surrounding environment through either absorption or adsorption".

The one plus, at least for me, is that I drink very little soda now. I used to consume mass quantities of Mountain Dew everyday and have cut that back to maybe once per week.

And look on the bright side, water is good for you ;)

Here is the wiki entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hygroscopic

PG and VG are both humectants, and yes they do make your tissues feel dry as a bone! If you don't drink enough H2O, your tissues can become so dry they crack open and become very sore and sometimes inflamed/and/or infected, especially in your nose and throat, not a good thing! AtomPunk is right on, you can't drink too much water ~ a couple liters every day. PG and VG are also very good anti-bacterial solutions, so with proper hydration and vaping you should be able to fight off colds etc. better. But your tissues were meant to be moist, and your lungs need to be moist enough to cleanse themselves, a plus if you are an EX-smoker, because with vaping you don't inhale tar anymore! H2O really helps in your re-hab.

My skin dried out so much as well. Both my borther and my sister have had psoriasis for years and I would get a patch on my right elbow from time to time. Since I started vaping though, its been bad on that elbow. But I have never been a big water drinker. Thatsa changing now and as long as I keep hydrated, my elbow doesnt get bad at all.

Oh, my gawd ... that's not gonna happen! LOL
Two liters is not a lot, that's ridiculous. Makes come to mind that TV commercial (forget the product) promoting some fiber suppliment, where the woman is eating raw vegetables all day long. But, I do drink a lot of iced water (just not 2L per day).

Sorry, but when I read that part all I could think of was "The Coneheads", and it made me LOL!

I've never been much for drinking water. I've always been a coffee/soda all day person. Now that I'm vaping, I'm drinking more water in the form of Kool Aid and tea. I still drink coffee like crazy in the morning, though.

That explains a lot....I started a water pill around the same time I started vaping to control blood pressure..and I thought that was the thing making me so thirsty! I didn't used to be that much of a water drinker but for months now I've been making an effort to get at least half a gallon in me. Now I'm really glad I was already doing that...cause some days even after half a gallon of water I'm dying of thirst later in the evening.

Yeah, slight tightness when vaping VG for hours, but it subsides quickly. The thing is I'd started getting this randomly before I was vaping, it's one thing which put me off the cigarettes. I think it was brought on by doing a lot more running recently and working my lungs much harder. After a few weeks I hardly get this at all now, except after extreme bouts of vaping, and even then it seems to be getting less frequent. I also have a lot more breath when running, which is great, and my muscles tire less easily - possibly lower CO levels in my blood.

I do get a bit thirsty when vaping, but not to the degree others seem to. I always drink a lot of water and, being English, tea. Beer works like a charm to cut through any dry mouth feeling, just thought I'd pass that on ;).

Two liters is NOT a lot. For example a large ice tea from McD's is only 2 oz short of a liter. I picked one up at lunch today and only have 2 or 3 oz of mostly melted ice left, and I had a 10oz. coffee and a 10oz OJ today before lunch. So if (after I finish my tea) I just drank one 16oz. glass of water the rest of the day - I will have drunk 2 liters. I will probably drank at least twice that much.

I had been taking diuretics for my blood pressure the last few years - but after I started vaping I realized I needed to knock them off - I have been loosing too much liquid through vaping to afford to loose more.
