My question is ive been vaping for a little over a month. Im about ready to get my first mod and i was thinking something along the lines of the puresmoker icon or v3. Ive been reading a lot and i like those alot and they are in my price range. But if i were vaping a 3.7v mod say on no LR attys would it be worse than vaping a ego battery with an LR atty?

I really want to get into the mods but dont want to spend money on say the 3.7v icon if im going to see no improvement but a slight battery increase and appearance. Or would i be better off going with a V3. The reason i was considering the ICON was mainly for size. Im always on the move so i want something thats still very mobile and i can go places with without it weighing my pocket down. THanks for any help!

Your eGo probably isnt htting a true 3.7 - - add the LR atty and it apes a 5v experience not a 3.7v one.
You could use a true 3.7v mod and find it more powerful than an eGo with a NORMAL atty but not feel as powerful as with an LR atty - make sense?
If you add an LR atty to a true 3.7v it will feel even more powerful than your current set up.
If you want to have your current set up using a normal atty thena 5 v mod may be what youre looking for.

3.7 volts is going to be 3.7v either way you look at it. The LR atty is only going to give you a simulated 5-6v experience. It is still 3.7v either way. The problem with the LR atty's is that they tend to burn out a bit quicker than a regular. You will however notice not a slight, but rather huge difference in the length of battery life when you get up over 600mah batteries. My screwdriver seems to go on forever while my titan510 needs a new charge after about 45min to an hour of use. To each their own however. If you like the icon or v3, do it. Trogs screwdriver is also another great device which will accept a LR atty if you decide to go that route. However, to the best of my knowledge, there are no adapters to step up the SD to 5 to 6v power aside from machining your own sleeve.

You might want to keep in mind that a lot of the 3.7 mods out there will allow you to change battery configuration to get up to the 6V mark, too. There is a noticeable difference between the hit of a Riva/eGo and a true 3.7 mod, but a 3.7 mod is not as much hit as an eGo type with a LR setup. However, if you get a good mod and you decide that you really like the HV vaping, all it requires is a change of battery styles. And don't underestimate the convenience of having a 2600 mAH battery versus even the 1300 of an H016, especially if you like the LR atties/cartos (or the widely available $7 batteries).

My reason for going with a mod is that it is all mechanical, no buttons to go bad, replaceable batteries, and all in all more durability. The icon and the Prodigy V3 are both excellent choices as is the EGO. If you go with the Prodigy V3 you can get the 3.7 batteries and have best of both worlds or go with something like the Buzz for a variable volt type device. If size is an issue then maybe take a look at something down the lines of a Little Sister box mod that you can dial in i think 0v to 6.?V

Lately I have using my V3 with 808 caromizers and sometimes i switch to 3.7v with LR cartomizers..Right now its Elite Vaporworks French Vanilla at 6v... so tastey!

I don't know if you call the all popular Tornado or the eGo a Mod... but they are also closed as in not automatic, fired by the inhaling force. They are manual; fired by a button.
My first ecig was the Green Smoke... when you want to switch from Anlalogs, some don't want to research, they just want to get something in their hands.
I wish I had gotten an Ego/Tornado but maybe i had to learn from the auto GS to appreciate better: longer batt life and varieties of juice and atomizers etc.
btw the GS carts give a great vape... the batts just die too soon and take forever to charge. I remember waiting hours while both batts were out.

I got a BB from altsmoke as the Silver Bullet and the Omega were out of stock.
Now that i have a few mods, I like the fact that the BB is so well made and reliable.

2 Tornado batts (the big ones) and a couple attys and a charger costs me about as much as a BB, but i imagine they are going to come in very handy since i share with my wife.

I personally don't need 6volts or rarely 5v. (except for cartos)
My favorite is 3.7v or even less, w/ an LR510 atty for dripping.

the puresmoker v3 lets me do that as well. It can be 3.7v or 6v with the quick change of batteries. Id like something smaller but to its versatility, decent price, good reputation, an its nice looking design draws me to it. Because even if 6v isnt for me i have options such as using a HR atty to drop it to around 5v or use it at 3.7 with a LR atty. I just wish they made the Icon slight bigger around and it would have been able to fit other batteries to be able to vape at 6v. There are batteries to let it vap at 6v for the ICON but they would die in an hour and im not getting a mod to have to change batteries every hour and it defeats the purpose of being small because to vape at 6v with it id be carryng around like 6 or more batteries a day.

As much reading as i do theres just so much out there i keep bouncing back and forth trying to make a decision. But i have time im going to sell off a bunch of stuff i have like some of the 20+ variety of batteries and some of the 400+ml of juice i have lying around. Hopfully all that will pay for my mod.

well if the BBBox Mod (Big Brother) proves reliable, it is priced quite a bit lower than most VV PV's.

btw, I'm finding my new Tornado big batt hits a tad harder than i like it to with LR 510's, but doable, and the reg 510 is ridiculous imo... lots of gurgle, not enuff vapor.

I have a power amp for a PassThru that starts at 3 volts; don't know what it is actually putting out, but it's perfect for my LR 510's and 306's. If I put it to the next level; 5v, it's too much.

So it this a classic case of VV needed, both low (under 3.7) and high (up to 5v)?
