It seems like 1/16" air holes seem to be the most common. I prefer my air holes around 1.2MM. Why?

I'm a mouth to lung hit guy. I do have RBAs set up with 1/16" & some with even bigger air holes for blowing them crazy clouds with direct lung hits. With 1/16" I can take short mouth to lung hits with good vapor & take lung hits too. But the lung to mouth hits on 1/16" don't satisfy me for some reason. I tried to get used to it but I keep going back to the smaller ones.

I have various caps that I can swap whenever I want. The air holes on them are #56 (just under 1.2mm), 1.25mm, #53 (1.4mm), & 1/16" (1.6mm). I use #56 on my Mini 2.1, 1.25mm on my Grand, & sometimes #53 on the Grand too. 1.4mm is just about the biggest that I like. I don't like airy draw but I also don't like to feel like I'm trying to siphon liquid either.

But these atties all have small air chambers which I prefer over larger air chambers. With larger air chambers holes size has a different affect as well as how close the coil is to the air hole. With the 1.2mm range, I like the coil very close to the air hole. This gives me more thicker vapor & much better flavor. But if the coil is too close to the air hole it will affect air flow. With a 1/16" air hole, there's tons of vapor but it's not as dense & for me the flavor is not as rich.

I like right around 1.0-1.1Ω on my Reos previously with 28 awg Kanthal wrapped around 1/16" music wire. Starting today the same resistance but with 27 awg wrapped around 1/16" music wire. And I still use Ekowool in my Reos. :p Everything else I wrap around a smaller .055" music wire & use rolled cotton.

The RM2 comes stock with a 3/64" air hole which is also about 1.2mm. But I'm not using a RM2. So there you have it, that's my story, what's yours?

I really don't like anything larger than the RM2 and ERA/Hornet size hole or around 1.2 as you have measured.

I take pretty short drags mouth to not quite lungs. Preferred ohms, depending on rba, 1.3 to 1.7 ohm @ 3.7 volts.

My juices are sweet, light colored, mostly butterscotch based, 50/50 PG/VG, and not very complex except for newly discovered Vaper Craze Monkey Business.

Reomizer 1.0 was way too airy for me.

I feel the same way. I actually can't understand how people can manage direct lung hits, even to this day. Maybe I'm doing it wrong(didn't know there was a wrong way to breathe). Shoot, when I was still smoking I didn't know that people directly inhaled from cigarettes. I was always a mouth -> lung guy. It's why I prefer my Cyclone. Slightly tighter draw.

My Novice has a very narrow slit, it seems about as airy as 1.25mm or so but seems to offer better coverage of the coil. I'm gonna try to do it on some clone attys I have to see what happens. I bought this little kit to use.

I plan on putting it in a mill and clamping the topcap vertical in the vise. Don't know how they will do on SS though. I've got some actually slitting saw blades at work with very fine teeth but don't have a proper mandrel for them. This was cheap enough to let me know if its worth fiddling with.

Its different for all of us there is no perfect air inlet size . If there is I wish someone would tell me :)

Totally agree. I find that air chamber size affects air hole size too. With that said, I don't like huge air chambers, that alone makes the draw feel too airy. Not so much an issue with most any RBA that fits a Reo though.

Yup, I'm with you on that too. I doubt rebuildables will ever slow down in innovations, much more to come, that's for sure!

It will be interesting to see how it progresses. Even though I missed the first couple years of ecigs I know its really still in its infancy. Its gonna be great to see the changes at it develops.
