Are you actually saying you could by DIY reproduce the BMW RC1200 for less than BMW?
Pls, remember we are NOT talking about simply mixing a few liquids here and asking to make a 800% profit. If BMW, Harley...etc would do this, it would cost us well over 100,000 $ for such bikes. They would not sell any and would go bankrupt fast.
...and by the way I am NOT against making 800% gross profit. I am simply against paying for such an item if I can by DIY, very easily btw, do it at 10% or less than their asking price. Hence you don't need to justify those profits or yourself.
I do not resent the sellers and buyers of such goods in any way .

Thank you for that. That is my exact point. I can make a 2-wheeled motorized vehicle (and yes, I have built several custom bikes from the frame up) for lots less than a BMW RC1200 costs. Will it be exactly the same? Not hardly. You (we) pay for quality motorcycles because the company has certain aspects that we can't reproduce on our own. Just like in juice, I have a "Mothers Milk clone" recipe that I think is very good, but I still buy a bottle of Mothers Milk for myself because it is better than what I make and I enjoy it.
Whenever I see a thread like this it's a train wreck, it's bad scrounged episode, even by springer standards. And I get sucked in and represent the idol racy I keep within.
It's the same as the dumb clone argument. Some idiot yells it needs to stop being sold or the price is to high and some other idiot yells that everything is fine they would pay twice as much. And in the end both idiots are both right and wrong. If the market and customer base weren't there then it wouldn't be.

If you look back in the thread you'll see I posted some rather kids responses and it want until I made a comment about he cyclcal argument (the part you started) that I got a little bit in the upset side. The fact that I am explaining that to you shows your laziness and lack of ability to have a conversation that requires use of more than half a brain cell.
