Hi there,

I just started vaping last week after smoking analogs for close to 25 years (Marlboro lights). After falling victim to a serious e-cig scam (don't ask, should have done my research), I decided to order starter kits from Vapor 4 Life and Eversmoke.

Only V4L arrived so far, and while I opted for what I hoped would be tabacco taste, I feel like I'm getting this subtle, yet terrible sweet side taste, that after having vaped for a few days, now actually makes me nauseous just smelling the atomizer sitting next to me :-(

I love the throat hit of what I ordered and wanted to achieve a somewhat traditional tabacco flavor, as I don't think I'll ever be a fan of fruity flavors. I really don't know what to do, I was so excited to finally kick the analog habbit, but this is not going well so far. Hopefully Eversmoke will be better....

At least both have a 30 money back guarantee, and from the looks right now I may have to send at least V4L back.

Any tips for a newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
Pete

Hi welcome to ecf. I don't know what's not making you feel well. But if you would like tips on none cigalike devices I would be really glad to help. Like better battery life and longer lasting devices that hold more juice. I can't help with tobacco juice really because I do straight fruit or mixs of fruit. I do recommend one vendor because I tried a good menthol tobacco juice from them but unsure on straight tobacco. Hope you have a great day.

The thing about kits with prefilled cartomizers is you have zero control of what ratio of pg to vg eliquid you are vaping.

If I were you I'd get my money back from the kit vendor and use it to purchase a Joyetech Twist kit, or a Vision Spinner kit. Some of these include a blank clearomizer (empty) ...then u can purchase a small bottle of eliquid.....70% pg 30% vg is what many of us started on. You can also choose how many MG of nicotine is in the bottle of eliquid. Fill the empty clearomizer up with your eliquid yourself. Its cheaper then buying prefilled cartomizers in the long run and you have more control over exactly what you are vaping.

http://www.vapow.com/Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Starter_Kit_Black_p/jy-skb.htm

5 blank cartomizers are in this kit......google "Condom Fill" method for cartomizers, this will show u how to fill them.

COuple of things are possible.

If you are using prefilled cartos there is no telling how long they have sat on a shelf or really what quality of juice they were filled with.

You might be one of the people who is sensitive to PG and need to go to a more VG or all VG based juice. You can't do that with prefilled. So maybe pick up some empty cartos and some VG juice and see if that helps.

It might just flat be the flavor not agreeing with you. Out of the 9 flavors I have tried I have one I can't stand and makes me a tad queasy.

It is also possible the Nic content in what you are vaping is too high. I bought 12mg nic when I started and was getting a head rush with every toke. I cut down to 6 and am a happy camper. I smoked ultra lights fyi.

I've had one juice that was so awful the smell made me sick to my stomach, so you're not alone. I don't care for fruity flavors either, I was a menthol smoker so I tend to go for the mint/menthol flavors personally. You won't find a cigarette flavor but there's some less sweet options out there. Vermillion River's Kentucky Premium Blend is good, I prefer the Kentucky Vanilla personally (I give that flavor to every first-timer that tries my Ecig, it seems like a pretty all-around acceptable flavor). They have some other "tobacco" blends that I haven't tried yet. Some other options are 555, various "Tab" flavors, and RY4s. I liked all of those flavors in Puresmoker's old Cash line. 555 was nutty, Cash-Tab was similar to 555 but less...nutty, RY4 was a blend of caramel and vanilla. I haven't found versions I've liked as much as CASH's but they're definitely good options if you're looking to avoid fruity or super sweet flavors.

Most prefilled cartos use PEG (as opposed to PG or VG) and this doesn't always agree with everyone.

I started with V4L and back when I was still into filling cartos I felt their blank cartos were some of the best. As for the tobacco flavored juice...I have yet to find one that tastes anything at all like a real cigarette. It's possible one is out there but I have yet to discover it.

So...get some blank cartos and a couple bottles of juice. I really liked their coffee and thier tobacco menthol flavors (but again...they didn't actually taste like tobacco). That should help until you're ready to move on to better gear.

This is all great advice. Don't give up, it takes time to get your gear and juices dialed in. I was off/on analogs for a few weeks before I found the right combo to quit entirely. I too started off wanting the tobacco flavors but ended up loving the caramel/coffee stuff. (Personally I love Virgin Vapors).

Here's what I would do. Set your cigarette money aside as your new vaping budget and commit to making it work for 2 months. Get your battery situation sorted out- 510's are tiny but lose their charge in 30 min., you can go up in size from there until you find the right size vs. battery life for you. Then get a few select top end devices- Vivi Novas are rock solid dependable and easy to maintain; a plain carto is simple and foolproof; and there's some good advice above on some stuff I haven't tried.

Also order a few sample packs from the better vendors. My faves are Virgin Vapes and Heather's Heavenly Vapes. Try them out.

Vaping will not immediately replace your cigarettes. It's different and you're breaking a nasty addiction. Your mind will trick you into thinking vaping sucks to get you back to cigarettes. Make a decision to really give this a shot. Alternate a cigarette with vaping for a bit, get used to the gear and find a juice you like. Then figure out a quit date to give up cigs entirely.

I vaped and smoked for a couple years and it was not until I found that special combination of mod/flavor/mix that i finally had the tool necessary to put down my analogs. I am 7 days smoke free now and glad I did not give up.

Get a eGo twist or Vision spinner. Pick up a carto tank like SmokTech offers and then go over to a place that sells many juices in different PG/VG combos and pick up 5 flavors (get a fruity one you never know what you may like to vape)

You will never find one that taste like smoking. After a good full vape of something that makes you smile you will not want that taste either :)

Good Luck!

That happened to me when I first started. For me it was VG juice out and to this day I can't tolerate it.

I'd find yourself a juice source that has something different from whatever your using now (ie. If it's pg based find something with VG or vice versa). Try out sample packs until you find something you like. Or you can check out places suggested here. Someone's post helped me find a good online store for juices and I'm really happy with their products.

I understand what the Op is saying to a T.
There are juices I have bought on high recommendation that almost make me gag.
Sweet tobaccos are something I cannot stand. unfortunately I never see< an mildly sweet Bla Bla in the advertizing.
I have zeroed to 1 tobacco and rarely use it. Backwoods Backo and it needs to steep for a few weeks to mellow.

Funny thing is, I have found I enjoy most other sweet e-liquids. Fruits/desserts and a few drink types. Especially variations of coffees.

It is just so odd that I ran across this post and this thread. I was just about to post a help question myself about this.
After starting on Blu-Cigs, I went over to an ego kit and ordered a bunch of sample flavors.
As a former PAD smoker, I started with 12 mg on all my samples. The thing is, 12 mg is apparently knocking my socks off, with a head rush, slight dizziness, a buzz, and a HORRIBLE after-taste in my mouth after every sample, no matter what delivery system.

For the veterans out there, does it sound then like 12 mg is too much? I have been lightening up on my draw / inhale, and I am feeling better------not so light-headed.
Do you folks recommend going to 6 mg???

Also, flavors. I was initially drawn to the more savory, dessert-like flavors. I found several to be "sickeningly sweet", to the point that I couldn't tolerate even the smell of them very well. I put them away for a while and I found that I could eventually try them again with better results. Much like regular food, there are certain combinations that one can or can't tolerate very well.

I wouldn't say sick, but there were many flavors that were repulsive to me. Some tobaccos (555 comes to mind) can be pretty sweet to many. I was a lot like you...always trying new tobacco flavors...I've got a cabinet full of them. After 2 or 3 months, no tobacco tasted good. Now all I use are fruit type flavors. The search for the right juice can be (at least it was for me) the most daunting part of switching from cigarettes. Good luck.

Really near the mexican border.
1st welcome to ECF.
I HAD a problem similar to this when I started vaping. I found that I get physically ill from PG. I bought a bunch of pre filled cartos and would get nauseous a lot. I finally went and bought several juice samples from several different vendors. The ones with more VG made me feel better.
I know some people that VG makes them ill so its better to sample sample.. If it turns out to be PG, I can give you a list of vendors that cater to very low or no PG.
So get yourself some empty cartos and fill them yourself and get s ample packs.
If you need help with vendors, just pm me and I will help you find the right thing for you.

I also have encountered tobac liqs that made me angry. its the artificial flavors, yes almost all are artificial, not steeped tobacco which would qualify as organic if the tobacco was organic. The Dean from Fuzion comes to mind. smelled like leather seat conditioner, vinyl, and maybe those plastic shower curtains. aaaaaa stunk up the whole cabinet. another is Indigo calypso omg but their Eastwood and Kickback and Capt Rons were fine, lovely actually. Sample packs are economical, if you hate it, its just $4 instead of $15+

Have not tried real tobacco steeped juice like i see at Vaperite

One other thing that might be adding to it. THis is hard to say without being gross so forgive me for this.

One of the things that happened to me with switching was an overabundance of toxic snot running down the back of my throat into my gut making me sick to my stomach. It took about a week to clear out. I actually saw my doctor about it things were so bad. She just told me lots of water to dilute it and crackers when it gets really bad. It has to run its course and the gunk from the stinkies goes out of my system.

I have had better luck with NET e-liquids when it comes to avoiding sweet tastes. I have a friend that can't stand vaping anything even slightly sweet. He finds RY4 and 555 (DKTab) to be disgustingly sweet, and those are at the bottom end of sweetness compared to most. The downside to NET e-liquids is that they need weeks of steeping before they taste the way they are supposed to. If you have the time, this forum is overflowing with information that can help you, and assuming you are only getting sick from the sweet smelling liquids you should find an alternative pretty easily. Good luck, and remember to check the coupons section before you make your orders.
