Holy smokes, or vapor....

I posted this last night, thinking hopefully by now someone would have taken the time to help - but 6 pages of help, WTH!!! Thank you guys so much, this is way helpful info. I've done some more reading here, tips on how to vape (who would have thought I'd have to learn smoking again ;-) I also dug some more into all of the abbreviations used here.......

It's a bit better with changed technique, with the Vapor 4 Life turns out priming helps, at least me. It doesn't make be sick anymore, but still doesn't taste much better. I think it's incredible how many that initially went with tobacco style carts changed to fruity flavors etc. I guess I may have to try that soon.

Intrestingly if I don't inhale it tastes 10 times better, what is wrong with that? Maybe I shouldn't have bought the 36 strength? I'm really hoping i will get used to this, right now I'm still smoking analogs during the day. In the evening my wife lets me have "quality computer time", that's when I need it the most.

Thanks again everyone, I'm sure I'll have more questions soon!!! - What a great support forum

Cheers,
Pete

holy vaping bats batman; 36MG. ok i smoked on the average 2.5 pad up to 3.5 pad of doral and palmal menthol and 36 is just slighly too high for me. I went down to 24mg until my doc saud 18mg (he noticed my blood pressure was increased).

even when my previous quit using nicotrol inhalers and the patch I didn't have that much. I don't know who would need that much unless they didn't have time to vape and could only get one or two hits per hour or two.

get some 0 nic juice and mix it (50/50 at least). that will make it about 18mg which for you may still be on the high side but better than 36mg.

get a nice lanyard and use the e-cig through the day instead of the cancer sticks and trust me you will start feeling better.

yes the head rush/dizziness is usually associated with a too high of nicotine but not always the case. If you do the research you will find this is caused by the brain getting a small amount of oxygen than it normally was getting. Nicotine attaches to the red blood cells blocking the oxygen so in response the head rush/dizziness. Now nicotine can also cause this on it's own but is also associated with blood pressure increase, dots of light in your vision, and a headache.

this is one reason to consult your doctor about it. The same reaction has been seen in some people from the PG, same reaction for those people with a fog machine in a club or concert.

it can also be a symptom when using some types of e-cigs/pv units because it produces more vapor (pg/vg) going in the lungs. Because it weighs more than oxygen, it blocks the oxygen from reaching your blood and therefore your brain causing the head rush/dizziness.

that is the reason I say consult a doctor and try to find a person or group close by.

that is also the reason I stated to change the technique you use also. then check the pg mix.

good luck and keep vaping

Thanks again for your generous advice gj, again, very much appreciated. I believe I am making some progress:

1.) A have adjusted my inhaling technique to take a lot LESS of a 'hit' for now. This is really working well, especially on the more savory flavored juices. I can actually taste them now.
2.) Partially inhaling, and exhaling the rest
3.) I am starting at the lowest twist voltage settings. Less vapor, a cooler vape, and again, I can actually taste the juices.
4.) I am not at all worried anymore about producing the ton of vapor produced in all the reviews (like a fog machine), and most concerned with controlling the flavor and nicotine hit. Lightly vaping a delicious pear juice right now, on the lowest setting, that has caused me some problems recently. Tastes delicious, but with a pretty nasty metallic after-taste. (Too bad. this stuff is delicious on the inhale, but a metal, medicinal after-taste....)
I also have a small batch of low nic / high VG samples coming.

Again, thanks all for the great advice.....

Hi there,

...

Only V4L arrived so far, and while I opted for what I hoped would be tabacco taste, I feel like I'm getting this subtle, yet terrible sweet side taste, that after having vaped for a few days, now actually makes me nauseous just smelling the atomizer sitting next to me :-(

I love the throat hit of what I ordered and wanted to achieve a somewhat traditional tabacco flavor, as I don't think I'll ever be a fan of fruity flavors. I really don't know what to do, I was so excited to finally kick the analog habbit, but this is not going well so far. Hopefully Eversmoke will be better....

...

totally, totally get you on the nauseous feeling from even the smell of the thing... except 3 flavors at the shop they all gave me that queasy feeling, but i kinda expected that to happen with all the sweet flavors.. and a lot, if not most tend to be.. I tried vanilla herbals a few years back .. and barely got through a cig before i got nauseous and realized that would not work for me.. but then vanilla hazelnut coffee does that to me too.. ( i have no problem with the smell of vanilla or hazelnut individually) it's that sickly sweet smell that does it.

i was lucky i found a relatively dry tabacoish/cig like flavor that worked for me at the store since almost none of the others would have..

no there is no flavor of smoking cigarette out there... so everyone keeps saying... and i haven't found one.. but then all our cigarettes tasted different anyways.. i smoked ultra lights.. that most of my friends said tasted like air to them, to me they tasted fine.. i could have a Marlboro lights here and there if i ran out but generally the smell was overpowering for me...

these days i add a few drops of dragon fruit or green apple liquid to my tabacoish/cig flavor to add a bit of, well i would say, 'freshness'. Can't vape the dragon fruit on its own beyond 2-3 puffs. And even though i haven't vaped for long (a month) i still can't do the fruity flavors for more then a few drags, and the sweet, caramely flavors still make me nauseous. (i'm lucky i have a friend who loves this stuff so a) i get to test his and decide if i like and b)he likes all this sweet stuff i don't so it has where to go when i get it and it's not working)

I haven't tried the V4L or the everlast so really cant compare flavors.. but i did find that the Bull Smoke Refined Blend carts work for me. Since from what i can see of the V4L and everlast those are 808 thread batteries so the carts from Bull Smoke will work. It's 12.95 for a box of 5 carts, yeah there is a volume discount but try with one box. It's the driest, least sweet flavor i found..

And this might sound crazy but it works for me.. Since prefilled carts usually dry out way before the flavor runs out (at least for me) i refill mine.. with a blank flavor liquid... i mix mine at 70/30 PG/VG and i have a few different nic levels ... for the i need a 'normal' hit situations... or i'm chain vaping and need lower nic.. I get about a 90-95% flavor for the first refill.. and then somewhat lower after.. But as with any cart there is no reason why this one is not refillable till its finished.. so i just kept going with the blank liquid and discovered that while by the 4-5th refill the original flavor was mostly gone but that i liked the blank. The VG gives it just a bit of taste so you don't feel like you are vaping totally no flavor but it's very light. I have a few friends that liked it too and now pick up a bottle of blank for either just vaping or diluting too strong flavors.

As for this:
..
I just started vaping last week after smoking analogs for close to 25 years (Marlboro lights)...

Holy smokes, or vapor....

Interestingly if I don't inhale it tastes 10 times better, what is wrong with that? Maybe I shouldn't have bought the 36 strength? I'm really hoping i will get used to this, right now I'm still smoking analogs during the day. In the evening my wife lets me have "quality computer time", that's when I need it the most.
...

I'd say 36mg was way high...

If you do the math..

Malboro Lights - 0.5mg per cigarette

if you smoked PAD that is 0.5mg x 20cig - 10mg per pack

what you got it 36mg per 1ml of liquid ... rough calculation is that 1ml is 1 cartridge refill = 1 pack of cigarettes

(i know it;'s not exact on the 1ml - 1 refill =1 pack but roughly - i find it's less then a pack about 12-13 times x 11 drags per time so about 2/3 of a pack)

but for simplicity lets say 1ml - 1 pack ..

what you got at 36 ml is a pack that is 3.6 times stronger then you normally smoke and honestly if you are like me and chain vape in front of the comp you are vaping way more then you smoke(d)..

an overdose of nicotine is more likely to get you dizzy than nauseous, and i do think it's the flavor reaction you are having since you are reacting to the smell as well.. but it could be contributing to the overall...

regardless to the nausea its too high a concentration. 36mg - for a smoker of unfiltered Camels or something ok...

a smoker of Malboro Light i'd say 12-18mg.

I hope this helps

2006? This is not true, unless you lived in China and had access. Not many did.

No need to exaggerate here. Europe had availability before the USA did...and that was not in 2006.

You are trying too hard to impress.

Don't have a horse in this race but it's just bad form to jump on someone before checking your facts.

According to an NBC article

"First marketed overseas in 2002, e-cigarettes didn't become easily available in the U.S. until late 2006. Now, the industry has grown from the thousands of users in 2006 to several million worldwide. Analysts estimate sales could double to $1 billion in 2013. Some companies have even started running TV commercials."

and there are multiple other references if you just google e-cigarette and 2006. Blu ecig seems to be the first or one of the first sellers in the US in 2006.

Congrats on your attemt to get off cigs and start vaping. I smoked two packs a day for 30 years and actually quit smoking by accident. I love vaping. I started with a 900mah ego passthrough battery (2) and 3 ce4 clearomizers. I loved the juice i started on but now vape about 6 flavors through out the day. I just keep expanding my flavor and device list. I was in love with the idea of saving money by quitting smoking but now have accepted that i have the vape bug. God I pray you get bit and stay off the stinkies!! :)

You guys are the best, thanks for the continued encouragement!!

So I found this store that's within 20 mins of where I live (Groove-E-Juice) and got me an eGo CE5. They let me sample almost every juice they have, and evidently I hate tobacco juices........never thought that was possible.

I got me some fruity ones (24mg) and I am HOOKED!!! This is so delicious, I can't wait to put this clearomizer to the test tonight - the test being how well will it work with a few drinks ;-) I'm not even a whole day smoke free, but I now feel like this may work.

I'll report back, thanks again to everyone!

Cheers,
Pete

awesome! glad you found some flavors that you like. I personally don't like tobacco juices either.
the other thing that might have made you sick is too much pg or vg
I have to vape juices with a high vg content because pg makes me irritable and dehydrated.
another thing that might make you sick is too high mg's of nicotine.
I tried 18 mg and it made me light-headed/dizzy/jittery, like I drank too much coffee
so I went down to 12 mg and have been there ever since.
thinking of lowering it gradually though

best of luck!

Totally my story! Thank God I started on the Ego-C clearomizers after a few weeks with cigg look a likes.
FYI I have cartos with 36mg, here's why. For instance, I'm flying to China in a few months. 13+ hours on one plane, I will be stealth vaping. I can take a small hit or two and be good for over an hour. In fact when I testified before the Senate here in California on the e-cig situation I did the same thing. Take a hit, count to 5, blow the tiny amount of vapor into my sleeve.

My doctor had upped my antidepressant med around the same time I started vaping and I was blaming the vape, for my dizzy spells, turns out it was a side effect of the meds. Also it made me less hungry so I wasn't eating right AND got dehydrated from vaping. THEN I was working in my garden and standing up too fast after being lazy for months. So it turned out to be a combination of things I hadn't considered. I LOVE fruits with mint.
Good luck

actually the mall kiosks started here in Tx around 2004. I did not start with these mainly because of the cost. I do believe it was a european company but not sure. The small startup was about $100 and the largest setup was almost $250. The cost to get more cartomizers or cartridges (not sure which) were also very costly. It was in 2006 that I went online and ordered from an online company. These were very horrible tasting and discovered the cost to keep with the cartridges (three piece unit - battery, atomizer and cartridge) was going to be very expensive also. I later tried again in 2008 with another type and these did not produce hardly any vapor, flavor and no throat hit. I don't remember exactly when it was but I found this forum and joined and was hooked on the KGO. I am not showing this date on this username/profile because I stopped coming into the forum and giving up trying to keep up with juice and new supplies with a very very limited budget - it was cheaper to keep smoking. I rejoined the forum with a new username because I could not remember my old one (look at my first post).

Just because you got a forbes article does not mean anything that you have all the facts. You come in and without offering any advice or contributing to the many good advising people in here; you come in and claim that I am being untruthful. That is what in many other forums would be called a troll. You may have some good information to post but instead you make yourself seem bigger by posting a forbes article link and insulting a person. Before you make a statement against a person, you may want to have ALL the facts. ABC, NBC and several others have shown news stories about e-cigs in 2006.

Now, for many years, I had a lot of business contacts in China. I did a lot of importing as a side business. I did not see China having e-cigs until about 2009 but this does not mean that they did not have them prior. While most people may not have had business with European countries is also very idiotic; in the late 1990's was the international boom created by the Internet. Many people began doing business with overseas businesses. In 2000, the Internet opened up a lot more business internationaly and many people had Internet connection at that time. Look up in your forbes articles about the 1990's "dot com" problems. This was not just in the United States but in many of the countries that allowed their people to be connecting to the Internet.

The 36mg strength can be diluted by adding 0mg PG/VG. So you can vape that bottle and don't get sick. Too high nicotine level will be harmful. Even though you may not be knowledgeable enough to DIY, just leave that bottle in the shelf somewhere and then when you are comfortable enough, just buy some pure PG/VG and mix into it to get the correct NIC mg content.

I believe that 36mg is very strong indeed, some places that sells e-juice only offer up to 24mg.

Welcome to ECF. You came to the right place for answers, but when it comes to taste it's all subjective. One of my buddy's favorite all-day vapes made me sick. Couldn't even stand to be in the same room with it, literally. Funny thing is, there are plenty of other juices we both like. Don't give up. Over time, you'll find many you like and some you can't stand. I think most of us have a box or shelf of reject juices.

Congrats. Glad you found a local store where you could taste the e-juices they had and find those that you liked and those you didn't. It is funny, I do remember reading in my old account that many people prefer the fruit flavors after tasting the tobacco flavors and not being satisfied. Don't remember exactly what it said because it was so long ago (at least seems like it for me). It is always better when the store is local and you are able to taste the flavors before buying. Even the 24mg nic strength does seem a little high for you but if you are doing ok then that is good.

Look forward to reading a post giving advice to somebody here on the forum. It is always a great thing.
