I spent $50 on the ego aio at the brick and mortar store and got one online for $20! Just curious why it's more than double the price

Its called overhead.

Commercial rent
Electricity
Employees
Etc.

Online a single seller can set up an impressive website store the gear in a spare bedroom, and grow his or her business as needs arrive.

I make and sell alcohol stoves out of aluminium cans. I have owners of my stoves in 42 of the 50 states, and 20 foreign countries.

I have more than 5,000 stoves out there in operation. I still build my alcohol stoves at the desk, and have them on four pasteboard boxes two at each end of the desk.

I don't have to pay $2000+ rent monthly, commercial rate for electricity. There is one employee. ME.

When you buy online there are only three things that matters.

1. A good price
2. Actually receiving the item in a timely manner.
3. Be professional and take care of custoners when an issue arrives.

Overhead is an excuse.
While there is obviously a difference in operating costs, doubling or tripling the msrp of a product is either pure profit grabbing, or the sign of a poor business model.
The cost of doing business is tax deductible. Rent, electricity, advertising, etc...
Many business fail to realize that you cant incur expenses (especially overhead costs) that you cant cover, while staying competitive in the marketplace.
This is one reason most small bsuinesses fail.

B&M's know that and take advantage of it . They love the uneducated consumer , they know newbies do not know prices of things yet & are very unlikely to have done research because they don't even know what to research .

While there is some overhead, it is nothing compared to the markup of B&M's. Capitalism 101, a product is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. This comes about because they can get away with it. The crazy thing is mods/equipment are not their money grabbers but they still cash grab wherever they can. Juice that is the real joke especially when you are looking at some that charge nearly $1/ml when it should be a couple of cents per ml. You would think sell the gear at a small markup 10-20% is reasonable for being locally carried in a store, then that creates the demand for the over priced juice that most B&M's house brands are recipes pulled from the internet. It is why i buy exclusively online and diy everything. You want a real good laugh look at the price of cotton in a B&M talk about face palming yourself.

I would suspect New/Newer people are the main business for a lot of these shops until people find how easy it is to make juices and find equipment online and build their own coils etc (disclaimer: nicotine needs to be respected even though it is easy to handle)

Juice prices are beyond insane you are right , juice is the most profitable thing there is in the e cig industry , thats why there are so many juice company's .

DIY is the ONLY way to go.

Dont buy cotton at a vape shop!
You can get 100 balls of organic cotton for $.99 pretty much anywhere.

Or....
I use rayon. Also called cellucotton.
Works better than cotton. No wierd taste
I bought a 9$ box at Sallys beauty supply that will last two lifetimes.

All their consumables are ridiculously priced, everything that NEEDS to be replaced/used up is over priced, cotton, coil heads, juice, even their diy supplies. The big driving force for the FDA is the ridiculous markup on Juice and the Demand out there, they want a cut.

Don't u have to worry about bleached cotton?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes. Check my link it is great stuff used by many. Organic Unbleached Japanese Cotton. You can use it however you like. I personally cut into 1/4 strips and peel just the outside layer off long way with the fibers. But if you go to a vape shop they charge like 5+ for 3 pads where you can get 300 for 5 bucks seems a bit silly. I offered some buddies once to sell them my bag of cotton for 500 as they were uninformed they felt silly. 300 is weird guess i have no idea how many are actually in it.

Nope.
Used store brand organic cotton for years.

Cellulose is IMHO a far superior wicking material.
And its $9 for 500yards of the stuff.

I personally avoid "japanese organic" anything.
Lol.
I seem to recall a Nuclear reactor that melted down there and is still leaching radioactive contaminants into the groundwater, and air.
The Japanese ministry of health wont even give a straight answer about contamination.

To each their own.
