Why is my Avatar so small?

Currently I uploaded my avatar at 150 X 178 pixles, but it shows up very small when viewing it in the forums. How should I upload it so that it appears bigger as my avatar?

I have been playing around with the pixel size quite a bit, right now it's at 150 X 178 pixles. I'm confused, help me out ;D

Are uploading it to this site or another third-party file-sharing site? If the former, try uploading to imageshack or photobucket.

Yes, I was uploading it stright from my computer. I will try to upload from Imageshack and see if that works.

Update: tried to upload it from imageshack and it says the "remote file is too large" is that referring to the size (pixels) of the image or the ammount of space it takes up? Should I try to convert it to .jpg?

Update one more time: I converted the image to .jpg, still says the image is too large.

How big is the file? There are limits to both the image size (in pixels) and the file size (in Kb)

In .jpg format, I resized the file to about 100 x 100 pixles. The file size is 7.23 KB.

haha I just read where is says: "Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 150 by 150 pixels or 5.0 KB (whichever is smaller)."

Is there any other way to reduce the file size further?

Without seeing the image I'm not sure which reduction technique will yield the best results. Have you adjusted the "quality" level when saving as a jpg? Also, depending upon the image a gif might be a smaller/larger file size.

I know the maximum size of your avatar is dependent on the number of posts you have and/or how long you have been a member. Then, if you are a "Supporting Member" the maximum size gets even larger.

Actually, the first part of your statement is incorrect. Length of membership on the forum or your post count do not affect your avatar size. Supporting members get a little larger avatar.
