My Dad had a '68 Nova II.....NO AUTOMATIC HERE!!!:D
It's what my brother and I learned to drive on.....Dad's credo:
"If you can't drive a STANDARD....you CAN'T DRIVE!!";)
Ummmmm......we DROVE!!!!
Still prefer it to auto......problem is, all the OTHER features I like in a car are ONLY available w/automatic transmissions....
There's still hope.....my new Volvo has an 8-speed that you can "work" through.....FUN's back in driving!!:)
Still no real CLUTCH, though.......:(
Happy Driving (and vaping) Trails!

I saw on the news that a man who was 57 got a 57 Chevy for his birthday from his son! I tried to remind my sons that I was born in 57, I am 57 and my favorite car of all times is a 57 Chevy!!!!!! Love those fins! Unfortunately they can't afford my dream car. So maybe a 64 Nova when I turn 64!!!!! That would be GROOVY!

I prefer a standard (have a 1987 standard tranny wagon) but will have to give it up as the MS makes my clutch leg a very bad companion.

I have always ever owned Volvos since my first car a 1972 volvo two door sedan. The steering wheel was massive, it was like driving a bus! And as in Boston bigger car and/or older car wins right-away I went anywhere I wanted and people just got out of the way of the bright yellow steel beasty. :headbang:

This is a picture of said volvo but it isn't mine because mine looked A LOT worse...

I am fortunate to have multiple vehicles and a large garage. I also rent a pair of spots in the hospital parking garage a half block away down the street. The pickup and our Durango R/T pretty much live down there. My wife drives a Mini Cooper S that doesn't take up much room in the main garage. I do not block people in as I am .... when it comes to bumper scratches and will often pass up parking spots because of it. Parking tickets? I don't do parking tickets!! They are $70 bucks a pop now minimum! ( the ba$tard$)

Great boat! My first NEW car was a 77 Monte Carlo, black on black and I was soooo incredibly kewl! Hahaha. But I learned to drive a stick in a Studebaker Hawk so if we're talking old.... (My dad collected classic and antique cars and all we had was Studebakers for a time. I'm not REALLY that old. LOL).

What great memories! We had a 77 Pontiac Grand Prix -- same exact body style, just a different name. Hubs ordered it directly from the factory and it took SIX MONTHS to finally come in, but MAN it was a great car! It had T-TOPS (remember those? Ours leaked like a sieve!) It RAN OUT OF GAS leaving the dealership when we picked it up, LOL! We brought our baby daughter home from the hospital in '77 in that car, then sold it a few years later to my younger brother. It was built like a tank and probably weighed more than TWO cars do today. It wasn't a stick, but I did learn to drive one from my daddy - he was a long distance trucker and believed everyone had to know how to drive a stick. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane!

My Pop was in the car business and always had multiple vehicles. It defiantly rubbed off on me as I started working around dealerships when I was 13 sweeping the floors and stocking the shelves. I was a little peckerhead back then and he put me to work after school to keep me out of trouble. He had Study's (Larks and Hawks) over the years but never an Avanti. I replaced the head gaskets on one once though many years ago. With that Paxton supercharger, those things were quite capable of hauling the mail. Simply a stunning and amazing vehicle. What's funny for me now is, I cant even stand the smell of the service area in any dealership today.

It's the fumes from that $*&$! UNLEADED GASOLINE!!
Tetraethyl LEAD!!! Now......THERE was a gas additive you could TRUST!!:D
Hell....even the cheapest gas was around 100 octane!!
Engine "knock"???? NO WAY!!!:)
I can remember seeing Sunoco 260 Blend at a station back in the early '60s..... 41 CENTS/gal.!!
And I thought.....Who in their right mind would pay THAT MUCH for a gallon of gas????!!
Give me Jack Benny's Maxwell any day!!!;)
Happy (vaping) Trails!

So true!! I would take $20 out of the bank and it would get me a full tank of leaded gas, four packs of cigarets, lunch and dinner and drinks. Now I buy a half tank of gas and am thrilled it it is only $30!!
