Why It's Hard For Some and Easy For Other's

I would like to hear some idea's as to why people think its easy for some to transition to vaping but others find it difficult.
From my first puff 9 day's ago I instantly knew I would never smoke again.
I took a drag on a disposable e-cig of poor quality in comparison to what I now know to be available, and I was fully satisfied.
Since then, I honestly can say I haven't once had the desire to have an analogue.
Reading on this forum, I can see that some people really struggle and I can't fathom it. I know were all different but, to me, I cant tell what the difference is, except for the fact that vaper tastes really nice to me.
Is it that some people enjoy the taste of cancer sticks? I started as a kid to impress people, but I never once thought to myself, mmmmmnnn this tastes great.
:confused::confused::confused:

Hey there! Welcome & congrats on switching! Sometimes I think people haven't found the right device, juice, or the right level of nic to curb their cravings until the worst ones pass. It wasn't hard for me but there were a couple of habits that were difficult like my morning coffee cigarette or the one after dinner. But the first day I'd dropped significantly from more than a pack a day to 5 that day & I knew then that I could do it! It took a couple of days & 24mg of nic instead of the regular 18mg but I got past them!

I think your spot on, I tried those cheap disposable cigs from the gas station. Made me smoke more... Tried these bad boys on 24mg and have not touched one since. I'm a little over a week off of them and never made this this far with anything else...

All the benefits of quitting without actually quitting! I love it:laugh:
I never actually wanted to quit though, as you said, I always missed the therapy of nursing the morning cobwebs away with a cuppa coffee and a ciggy.

Vaping is so much more enjoyable than smoking I cant even describe. If some scientist come's out with some scientific facts that vaping is actually worse than smoking, then I know it will definitely be harder for me to stop vaping than smoking

As you can see, there are a number of different reasons why some people have a more difficult time switching than others. Another reason to add to the list are the alkaloids in tobacco that act as MAOIs. It wasn't until the last year or two that WTA juice was available, and a vaper just has to experiment with each switching factor before they know whether they are going to need it or not.

I think it also depends on what people are addicted to. Some people might be addicted to the nicotine and others my need the oral fixation. I know that my friend can go days without an analog, but will have one in certain social situations, so switching to mostly vape to him might be easy, because he's after the oral fixation more than anything. People are so different so it might be harder for someone to switch if the vape flavor isnt quite right or the throat hit isnt there.... Some are lucky to find something that works right off the bat and others may have to experiment with different things. Some folks are more patient than others and on and on and on. A hard question to answer simply.

I find it bewildering that people still say I have "quit", when really they have just switched to vapour delivery.
I haven't had an analogue for 9 days but I haven't quit the addiction. I just satisfy the addiction in a healthier way.

And by the way DarkHood, good job on showing the super easy DIY Method.
I read it earlier. going to try it after I figure out what flavour I want to produce in bulk.

I don't think any of us have said we quit the nicotine addiction. We DO say we quit smoking however. Personally, the only time I smoke now is if I'm on fire. :D

I still feel like a smoker personally and have expressed this view here many times - ppl don't take too kindly to it lol. When I say quit I mean I quit smoking cigarettes, I agree w/ you. Thx btw, read my last post in that thread tho - ecx might be watering down flavors...

I would like to hear some idea's as to why people think its easy for some to transition to vaping but others find it difficult.

Addiction is complex. I used to think the addiction in smoking was pretty straight forward: nicotine. What I've learned around here makes me think it's much more complicated. With me, I do think it's mostly the nicotine. For a couple of reasons. One is that my longest periods of being quit have been with nicotine gum. I was far more able to handle quitting long as I was getting the nicotine. With vaping, I find it fills more than just that "slot" I guess you could say? It's also the tastes and "experience" and ritual and such. So this transition was much, much easier. What cravings I get for regular cigs are very, very mild. Easily ignored if I'm busy.

But as I write this post, I catch myself thinking fondly of that "rush" from a cigarette. Especially such as that first one in the morning. I'm very much aware of the whole nicotine/dopamine thing. It's a very, very nice feeling. I like it very much. Too much.

Vaping, the absorption is somewhat slower. For a while, I'd start the day with a cig then I could "coast" for hours and hours with vaping. It's like I needed a quick "fix" of nicotine then could maintain the nicotine level with vaping. It was a while before that first cig of the day thing died.

I can't say I'm totally quit just yet. I dropped from one and a half upward to two packs a day to, oh, three to six cigs a day maybe at the start (which startled me... no, shocked me). Then it drifted down to two or three a day. Then one or two. This past week, fell to one every other day.

And the funny thing is, I stopped liking smoking a while back. It began to taste harsh and wasn't pleasant. This past week, it's been horrible tasting and gave me a (mild) headache.

But I still remember that nicotine rush fondly.

It's hard to say really. There seems to be so much going on in smoking and the addiction, it seems to vary greatly from person to person. I may be one of the few true "nicotine addicts" around ECF. :)

I do love those dopamines. :)
