For me - only Kayfuns and Taifuns. I have tried subohming on other tanks, found it is awful (too warm, ratio satisfaction/juice consumption is below ground level).

However I am a direct to lung vaper, I like long draws, usually 10 seconds. So for me Kayfun 5 is the best now. I never was convinced Kayfun Lite is a good tank (to fill it you need to unscrew a tiny screw on its bottom), but others (old school?) love it.

kfun was my first serious rta, had many clones, 12 or so.
If you want DL vape, try the monster base at Fasttech. Compares favorably with any of todays modern rtas.
The v3 mini clone ss316 at Angelcigs is steller DL performer, Open the airflow.TOP FILL too.
Kfuns are single coil, should be used at about .8 to 1.2 ohm builds.
Beginner? Hardly..
Beginner? Absolutely. Thousands of how to videos out there, thousands of replacement parts, Hundreds of clone options. Ease of use. I would definitely say Kayfun is a great starter.

A beginner couldn't explore ALL the possibilities offered by the Kfun.
To me begginer gear is something you outgrow. A Kfun is a timeless, evolving atomizer.
You grow with it, not out of it..

I agree. Kayfuns have good flavor

Kayfuns work.

Kayfuns are easy to build

Kayfuns are versatile

Plenty spare parts, and you can keep one going almost FOREVER.

And to me, it is a distant memory, a beginner rta. Something that helped me figure out what i truly wanted out of a vaporizer. I liked the engineering behind the kayfun there were some flaws. For the most part it was solid it showed me the possibilities. To me the griffin is just a larger perfected version of the kayfun v4 obvious differences but the core aspects are there. Top filling, Juice control, air flow, great wicking. I still take long draws, maybe not quite as long as on the kayfun but i dont need to now. Like i said that is my opinion. the kayfun played a pivotal role in my vaping youth, in the sea of options out there it was a great starting point.

nicely put

You're correct, the screw/fill is very dated but boy was that version great for modding the airflow, especially the v2
I'd love to get the KF5...perhaps Santa??

@Grego25 - Might want to check out this one that's on sale for only $7.00! I've gotten several from them (at a higher price), and I just learned how to build coils on them in the last month or so. So the deck definitely isn't too tiny even for a beginner to learn on! I've also bought a bunch of the bases, the acrylic bell caps, the chimney bases, etc. to make even more of the little "shorty" ones. Love them, too!

Make sure to check out what comes with it, too, in the box!

I have 4 Kayfun lites clones (V1 and V2) in use right now. IMO the best MTL tank ever made. Once you get the wicking right they just never leak. More for flavor than big clouds, but they are not a slouch when in comes to vapor production. Unfortunately, these early versions are hard to find now-a-days but many were sold in the last year for big discounts.

i had a kayfun... it was better than what i had prior but nothing compared to what i have now... i want to say kayfun was my first rebuildable. of course i had to also purchase the peek insulator for higher temp and wider bore air flow, even then it is nothing compared to my griffin's (22,25,25+) I suppose its not a bad starter tank.

Exclusively MTL except the K5.

They are very well constructed. Top materials and impeccable fit/finish IME.

Also, replacement parts are available almost everywhere.... glass, o-rings, insulators, bell caps, chimneys... you name it.

Great vape but MTL mainly with a tight draw.

Downside? Fairly small build deck and PITA bottom filling (on most models). And expensive.

For me - only Kayfuns and Taifuns. I have tried subohming on other tanks, found it is awful (too warm, ratio satisfaction/juice consumption is below ground level).

1) Lol  'nothing compared to what i have now'
A griffin???

Btw, I have the griffin. I love a kfun so the griffin is useless.
I tried it once, buried it in the box and i hope ill never see it again.

2) I have never, ever filled by unscrewing that screw.
Step 1 - Hold the little air hole with your finger
Step 2 - unscrew the top cap
Step 3 - fill it up
I exclusively use 2 tanks kfun lite & phenomenon. Both authentic.

3) agree to an extent, but imo the 4 & 5s are the worst kfuns going. I obviously bought a real 5.
Terrible decision :(

Sorry if ppl have said about the screw. I just skimmed it.
Watch busardo or someone who knows a little.

Different strokes for different folks. Pretty simple it was my opinion.
I am a DL always have been, which is likely why i MOVED ON, past the kayfuns.

Kayfuns are garbage by comparison to my griffins in my opinion. Again that is my opinion.

the 4 had some decent aspects i was looking for. I dont want to have to do something silly to fill it up. Turn the juice off close the air flow fill er up and be done. I fill up a lot in the dark all i want to pay attention to is the level in the tank nothing else. Kayfun doesnt hold a candle to my griffins in vapor production and i even managed to put dual coils in my kayfun at one time.

Your right, horses for courses and all that...

But cmon, moved on? You sure about that.
I think you meant that you have changed your opinion?

But a kayfun light to an indiscernible sub tank that i can pick up for £22 with only 3.5 ml and dual posts.

Again, moving on? Fair enough

Like you said though, each to his own.

Moved on yes, beyond moved on. I didnt go from the kayfun to the giffin i moved on from tank to tank that had the aspects i liked in the kayfun until i heard a voice, it was as if god was speaking to me and told me to find the griffin. Now the Griffin is timeless, masterpiece, forever tank. I still own my kayfuns but i havent used them in years

Maybe we'll speak in a while and see if you still stand by that.

And He is responsible for a lot. Now He has cast the griffin down upon you.

But you are right in that it is your opinion. We'll have to agree to disagree in this case.

There will be no end to this argument and I'm going to sleep now. 03:20 over here. Goodnight.

Good luck with your timeless masterpiece.

I cannot possibly think of anything else i would want out of a tank. The Kayfun i always wanted more... Griffin 22 was good griffin 25 was better Griffin 25+ is flawless. the only real difference between the 3 is wicking.

i had the Kayfun V4 it was ok, the clones would be the obvious choice as a starter not payin for the original. I also had a few steamcraves those were better than the kayfuns ive had quite a few and cannot recall especially the ones not worth mentioning. Starter because they are not huge builds which require more coil more power more clouds. Starter because of the tighter draw on them.
"Starter"? Nonsense. Kayfuns are an excellent MTL tank where a tighter draw is preferred by many. Bigger coils more power and air and big clouds aren't a progression, they are just a choice for those who like direct to lung vaping. Two different things.

$19.90 SXK Kayfun V5 Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 5ml / 316 stainless steel / 22mm diameter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I'd recommend the Kayfun v5 clone linked above.
  • Top fill
  • Juice flow control
  • Air flow control
  • Inexpensive
people like the KF series as they are usually reliable, leak free and flavorful atomizers. Spare parts can be found just about everywhere.
I have the SXK Kayfun Mini, it's an airier draw than I like, when I get a chance I'm going to modify it for a tighter draw. In all other respects it's a fine well made tank!
